The individual competition in Zakopane is about to start at 13:00 CET. After yesterday's competition which was a bit surprisingly won by a Ryoyu-less Japan, Dawid Kubacki is the clear favourite for today's individual competition, with Klimov, Stoch, Forfang, Johansson, Sato, Nakamura, Geiger and Peier also in the battle for the podium. The weather is not perfect in Zakopane, but let us hope they can still jump today.
In the trial round, Kamil Stoch crushed the field, although he had ideal conditions which quickly became worse after his jump among the early jumpers. Klimov was best of the rest ahead of Kubacki and Johansson, who won last week and is still in very good shape. What made me glad, personally, was Schlierenzauer continuing his good jumps from yesterday and last week. It is a joy to see him smile again after his jumps - let us hope he can still compete at the top come wintertime!
Koudelka will get back into his old form in winter, r-right?
Joshua Parker
I fear his problem is the lack of good coaching and long-term planning. I fear that as of now, he will get some top5-10 results next winter and that is it...
James Bailey
Clemens Leitner has been quite a pleasant surprise today - decent technique and really stable.
What a nice effort from Forfang. Just what I expected from hin in the first round...
Lol, I remember a similar video with Mateja's jumps. The days before Stoch were a bit tragicomic for Polish jumpers not named Malysz - now if only Rutkowski had lived to his potential...
Eli Parker
Zzzzzzzz, my favorite part of ski jumping
Samuel Hughes
>they are currently considering cutting off the 2nd series because of the wind
Isaiah Edwards
Damn, Zniszczol clearly missed the takeoff there.
Kayden Kelly
Really beautiful jump from Peier! I love his style, very classic.
Anthony Murphy
Oh yes, Dawid the man. Still not perfect, but a nice jump.
Caleb Russell
Japan is absolutely based. Even without Ryoyu Will they go back to glory like in 90s? Because if they wont who will.
Zachary Wood
Great effort from Kamil, shame about Wolny. He really does need to develop a bit mentally, but I'm sure he can do it in the upcoming seasons.
Decent jump from Sato, but not enough. Yes, double win for Poland! Great that we still got a good competition in the end.
Gabriel Collins
I think they will - The Kobayashis, Sato and Nakamura have way too much potential for them not to. The domestic competition right now is huge in Japan, which breeds success. I fully believe they will be on the podium in the upcoming world championships and olympics. Domination? We will see, maybe not yet in the couple of years when Poland still has the old gang around and Norway is doing quite well. After that? I believe it well be Germany versus Japan.
