Who knows. I wouldn't say that Movistar starved of points this much. I really think that Valverde in GT is counter-productive actor. He clearly thinks that doing domestique work is beneath him, he's not good enough for being sole captain and he's marked by peloton, so winning stages is rather hard.

I think I said this last year as well, but Portuguese does not sound like I imagine it to sound at all. It's a weird experience. Sounds more like Polish or something to me. My ear for language is clearly defective.
>top 5 is 4 w52 You weren't lying saying they are the portuguese sky.

Just nobody ever respond to him again, then he will leave eventually. I said this a million times in /TdF/ too but all the newfags there kept taking the bait. It's so tiresome.

Banned Brit here... Only one of those posts was mine and it wasn't the one which was deleted.
I'd does, user. We have tons of Ukrainians here so I actually know how they sound like. Once the volume on my car radio was low and I couldn't tell if I was listening to a ukranian or Portuguese radio. UEUEUEUEBR Portuguese sounds a lot different tho.
I'm really sad for him, he a good guy with barely any team, meanwhile w52 gets 4 in the top 5 final standings , even tho 3 of them crashed horribly. Fuck them.

How can every other country besides IT and NL even compete.
It's legitimately embarrassing. I'd been posting in GT race threads for years and they'd been comfy for years. But recently there's been an influx of precious and fragile faggots who are everything they claim to hate. They claim to hate drama yet will fall over themselves to sperg out at any britposter. The Brit doesn't even have to be there in many cases. I thought it was just a few newfags but either they've become the majority or everyone's just jumped on a hivemind bandwagon because of a pathetic need to fit in.
The best thing about it is they express their hatred for the anglo IN ENGLISH!!! These virgins couldn't come up with an alternative Lingua Franca even though it would keep out britposters because we have no need to learn your spastic gibberish.
>expecting these insecure racists to engage in conversation about cycling
/cyc/ is dead before it was even born. If a brit tries to create talking points, he'll either be ignored or sperged on. If a yuro does woman's magazine tier conversation like Remco's girlfriend, they will give it their full attention.
Whenever anybody wonders why /cyc/ failed, always remember that it was the yuros who killed it. Not the Brits.
Pathetic really since it went from literal years of /comfy/ to /pol/ in a flash thanks to few snowflake cumbubbles.
Jeez, what's the deal with all these accidents lately in road cycling lately. Crashing in wall, car and getting killed by concrete in ditches. Think I`ll drive from now on.
Elijah Hill

>the anglo cries out in pain when he shits up cyc
Sebastian Sullivan
You're doing it again. What the fuck has this got to do with cycling? Stop it.
He's not wrong though. There is like one Brit shitposter and the rest are fine. Yet half the people seethe at every single Brit post without even reading it. Just like you did in both of your posts.
I fucking hate how redditors can't understand the concept of not replying to trolls. Just fucking report their posts if they trigger you but don't reply. Giving them those precious (You)s only makes them stronger.
Benjamin Stewart
>There is like one Brit shitposter No there isn't. There is one person who points out obvious, unprovoked, anti-British bias and/or hypocrisy. But that's it. Maybe I should just stop responding to the bait that such posters post, but at times it does seem like /cyc/ has a unique hatred for Britain, so y'know, if people are going to post insults then I'll happily return the favour.
Anyway things would obviously be better without people shitting on particular nations out of the blue. Hopefully we can aspire for such standards.
>report their posts When something is plainly against the rules, yes. But sometimes it's a fine line, annoyingly. There's that big warning in the report box saying "submitting false or misclassified reports will result in a ban" so if someone has posted something stupid, but which you don't think has actually broken any rules, then surely it's less of a risk to just tell them that they're stupid, than to report it and risk getting banned for a "false report".
Chase Phillips
Fucking this.
Sagan on cannondale was the best pairing.
De marchi was based.
Moser’s Strade win was fantastic.
Elijah Barnes
You should also note that the people shitting on Sky/Ineos aren't doing it because they're British but because of how they act. It wouldn't matter where the team came from or who was riding in it they'd get the same hatred. Anyone claiming anything else is a newfag who didn't follow the sport during US Postal. Which is why most Brits think everyone has a hate boner for them instead of the team.
William Bailey
Same for quickstep, they got memed on pretty fucking hard. But again it's fragile british egos that cant handle the heat. This shit started ITT with a brit complaining about the OP and another brit crying that this general isn't the same in quality as fucking /box/ or /fs/? like who the fuck cares. fuck generals. /cyc/ comes and goes it never was a 24/7 general. And now some britfuck wants to dictate how this shit should be run? fuck him and his beady eyes

I know it's all a matter of perspective but that's what I saw. Sure he was being a bit of an autist about it but the (over)reaction was far worse. Particularly as I thought his OP was a decent effort. Frankly, it makes me reluctant to post on /cyc/ if that's how decent contributors are going to be treated.

Leo Hill
Then, please, go away and find another community. Making a decent OP is fine, being an asshole all the time and trying to dictate how the thread should be is not. It has been explained a million times that we don't care about flags, if there was another defining trait to recognize posters we would hate on that, if that person is being defensive, aggressive, humorless and generally annoying ALL THE TIME. If you cannot understand that you don't belong here.
Jaxon Edwards
/cyc/ was here long before you buddy and it shall remain here even after you leave. we're doing just fine tyvm. and don't forget /cyc/ is a raceday thread, not a general to discuss cycling.
Ian Edwards
Yes. I spit on the day that /cyc/ is up on a day that there's no race. Don't want to become like /f1/ or other generals, continuously talking about bullshit like waifus.
The only exception are rest days of GTs.
Charles Hill
All of these transparent lies, falsehoods and double standards.
>we don't care about flags Patent bullshit as evidenced by the strawpoll and Finland's comments
>trying to dictate Not the same thing as constructive criticism. Any money if another flag made those suggestions (just as Denmark was doing before France made a general), it would have been taken aboard or ignored. It wouldn't have warranted universal disdain and a ban.
>you don't belong here Now who made you dictator?
>/cyc/ was here long before you buddy and it shall remain here even after you leave. How the fuck would you know how long I've been here? Newfag.
>/cyc/ is a raceday thread, not a general to discuss cycling. Which raceday is this thread for?
Ayden Allen
Now you're being just as autistic as the Brit. Stop caring so much about "rules", I liked the idea of a general where we can have our little /cyc/ community all the time. But maybe you're right, if it only devolves in JOHNNY FOREIGNER LOLOLOL bullshit, maybe there shouldn't be one.
Angel Gomez
>newfag Your new is again showing, top jej. as for the raceday. Bincbank tour day 1 you flamer. Don't you follow cycling?
Owen Hughes
>newfags calling oldfags newfags for calling them out on their newfaggotry So it's not a round up for the EC road race?
Also, where's the Tour of Utah thread? No mention of it in the OP... If there's no outlet to speculate on Tejay's excuses then it clearly isn't /cyc/. Newfag.
Lincoln Sanders
He doesn't. He never posts about the race.
It's just you. How would you otherwise know that the "other British guy" got banned. You just got butthurt that people don't agree with you and started shitposting with dumb pictures. Now you are in your "reasonable" discussing phase again. The autism is really obvious in your posts. Nobody will ever get through to you and nobody will ever agree with you. So please, leave. This cannot be fun for you, so find something else to do.
Cameron Hall
>He never posts about the race. He's not one of the several Brits who discusses races and racers during and after the racing?
>How would you otherwise know that the "other British guy" got banned. He said so here >So please, leave. Not your call, wanker.
>This cannot be fun for you, so find something else to do. Can't imagine it's any fun for you either but I could be wrong. I'm just killing time before I meet someone. What's your excuse for trying to police /cyc/?
I really hope in a few years you "outgrow" your autism. It won't go away, but you will be able to deal with it better and be an okay functioning person. You will cringe when you think about episodes in your life like this, but to be honest, you deserve it a little bit. Mental illness is no excuse for not even trying.
This is the last thing I will ever say to you, so savor this (You), and try to set your ego aside and contemplate if there even is the slightest chance that I might be right.

>It was all an elaborate ruse! Coaxed into a snafu! >I was merely pretending to be a retard!

And now we'll have the accurate version. >a million continentals uniquely get annoyed by british posters and get supremely butthurt by us - for example, this guy bringing up the british nationality of some guy complaining about the OP when his nationality has literally NOTHING to do with it - >brits point out that /cyc/ seems to be uniquely butthurt about british riders, british fans, british cyclists >continentals simply double down more and more and more with their butthurt about british riders and fans, posting random things out of the blue about britain, how much they hate britain, how much they hate british riders, how much they hate british teams, how much they hate british fans Glad I could clear that up for you.
>This shit started ITT with a brit complaining about the OP and another brit crying that this general isn't the same in quality as fucking /box/ or /fs/ Firstly, they might be the same person. Secondly, what exactly does their flag have to do with anything? Neither of those posts mentioned nationality. And you're bringing up Britishness out of nowhere because you have a hate boner for Britain? Why is this? Just because we won a few bike races? Fucking twat.
Josiah Martin
It's funny because many people in /cyc/ seem to vigorously defend Armstrong and his cheating and they say "HURR DURR EVERYONE WAS DOING IT BACK THEN". If anyone is interested in seeing how unequal doping made everything, watch this interview of Tyler Hamilton where he says (at 5:18) how doping was supremely unequal because some people could afford more drugs, better methods of smuggling, better doctors, or they had more connections with the UCI, etc: youtube.com/watch?v=GMUXJY29Dw4&list=PLW5qT4HIAd1anZ-vOPHQGLgjEtTZqjnWI&index=8
Also the bit before that is good as well. Tyler thinks that Lance would only ever have been able to contend maybe one or two TdFs if he hadn't been doping. But really it might have been zero, because like Tyler mentions elsewhere in the video, Lance was not a climber in any way whatsoever before he started doping.
So that's one reason why the Ineos / US Postal comparison seems a bit dumb. And the other reason is that Ineos are not believed to be using banned substances like EPO or testosterone. TUEs are in the rules, and tons of riders on all the teams use TUEs. Maybe the rules are shit, fair enough, but that's not the job of the cyclists or the teams - their job is to ride within the rules. If you're a rider with a medical condition and your doctor is saying "this will clear up your symptoms, and I've already got permission from the UCI, it's completely permitted", and you're in peak form, you've been training your entire life for this, and you're finally in contention for the Tour de France, would you really say no when you're literally conforming to all of the rules of the sport? Now that TUEs have generated more controversy, maybe it would be different - although I bet tons of riders would still take the TUE (and many probably take them all the time). But when Wiggo and Froome took theirs, there was no controversy, and thus very little reason to say no.
Isaac Robinson
Also another point of disagreement is that some posters do focus on nationality, not just Ineos as a team. E.g. these posts bringing up nationality out of nowhere: Fair enough some posters won't bring up nationality, sure, but some do.
Jason Bailey
>we don't care about flags

These posts are off-topic. Please talk about cycling.
I have almost never seen ANYONE on /cyc/ defend Armstrong, they all fucking hate him. Only the occasional american. So that's starting your post off with a blatant falsehood.
You would've had a better point if you used Merckx or Anquetil.
Also, many of us DO believe that Ineos micro-dose on banned substances + get away with more shit due to having the best paid lawyers (see: getting refwheeled Mollema's time in 2016, or getting away with salbutamol while Ulissi and others got banned) + yknow, possibly using a doctor to say "uh yeah these guys have asthma" as an excuse while they don't actually have it, all stuff like that so they can use substances they otherwise couldn't.

Don't be so fucking obtuse. The point was clearly that if discussing cycling is more important to you than participating in the anti-brit circlejerk, then the ONLY post you should have responded to was the one about cycling. Instead, you needed to get worked up over a perfect stranger on the internet. So perfect that you have no idea which particular stranger. You need something to hate. You need britposters because if you didn't have us to hate, then you'll remember why you're so full of hate in the first place which returns you to the uncomfortable truth.
You Hate Yourself.
I ended up going out. Fuck knows what happened with the other Brits. What we do know is that after we left, the thread didn't transform into a /comfy/ discussion about road cycling. Shit, nobody's even mentioned tonight's Tour of Utah or tomorrow's BrinckBank stage.
The thread just died.
As much as you claim otherwise, you and all the other brit-haters don't want to discuss cycling. You want to participate in the circlejerk. All those who did want to discuss cycling, Brits and continentals alike, have seen what YOU have turned this thread into and given up on it.
Not only is he an expert on Yea Forums generals, he's also a shrink! The thread always dies after the race "oldfag'". but as the sun tomorrow brings another day of /cyc/ with or without your abhorrent posting.

>"They put an end to my career": these are the few words that Domenico Pozzovivo said in a dramatic phone call made immediately after being run over by a car to his wife Valentina. "He's in pain, he's out of danger but the situation is serious," said his wife. This morning, when he woke up, he just asked "let me go home". The athlete suffered the fracture of the tibia and the head of the orthopaedic department practiced an osteosynthesis to put back in axis the leg. The situation of the elbow, on the other hand, is more complicated, as it presents a multi-fragmented and exposed fracture. The cyclist, who has been hit frontally, is also injured in the face: some stitches have been applied to the chin. In the accident, which is being investigated by the Municipal Police of Cosenza, Pozzovivo was hit on the right side of the car and in the collision broke the windshield and the window. For this reason, the doctors intend to subject him to other investigations to verify the general conditions beyond the fractures.

Never been to the States, but from the attitudes I've seen on Yea Forums from American drivers, I would guess that European drivers are definitely more respectful towards cyclists, on average. Obviously we still have nutcases too but yeah. I've cycled on busy roads for years and I've never really had any serious problems. The last "altercation" I had was a couple weeks ago when some pensioner in his shitbox beeped and waved his hand at me because I cycled through a red light, lol.

In Italy is very bad, there's like a cycling related death every 37 hours. Other countries are suppose to be better though to the point some people go to Swiss to do cycling.
Juan Richardson
Pretty good here. I've had like two narrow passes this year and I've got 10 000 km on a bike so far this year. Most of the verbal abuse comes from 15 - 17 yo guys on mopeds and even younger kids on bikes when they yell at me to go to the MUP.
Also ridden on Mallorca and that's even better but I'm not sure if it's a fair comparison since bike tourism is so massive there.
Austin Baker
pretty decent here, only had 2 incidents in over 10years of road cycling, 10k kms per year.
Blake Brown
Drivers in Switzerland have always been insanely nice whenever I was cycling there, always giving way more space than necessary and generally being very relaxed and seemingly never in a hurry when they wanted to pass me on climbs. They even signalled me to go past them on descents when I was faster. I dont understand why its completely different in countries like France and Italy, but it really is a massive difference. There do seem to be way less cyclists in Switzerland than in Italy or France, so maybe its simply that the Swiss dont get annoyed by them as much.
Brayden Sanchez
Partly I'm not surprised because Italians are a passionate bunch who like honking their horns and getting pissed off. But partly I am a bit surprised because Italy has such a strong cycling heritage that I would have thought perhaps the public would be quite understanding of cyclists, but maybe not.
MUP?
French and Italian people are maybe more passionate and loud than Swiss people are, who tend to be more meticulous and reserved. Probably.

Multi use path, a combined bike/walking path separated from the car lanes, we have shit tons of them here. Technically we have to use them when available but I usually don't outside of commutes because it's safer to ride on the road when you're going fast. Drivers here are really bad about ignoring the MUP traffic entirely when they should yield to it. Much more visible on the road as drivers expect there to be traffic and will look. Also some of the intersection design is criminally bad when it comes to MUPs since they often have completely blind intersections with roads thanks to all kinds of hedges and other visual obstructions. Also the MUPs are full of dog walkers, kids on bikes, moms with strollers, etc which makes riding at any reasonable speed pretty dangerous on them. My only collisions in the last 5 years have been on MUPs because some retarded kid though it would be a good idea to do a U turn suddenly without any prior indication or looking bad to see if anyone is coming. Luckily from pretty low speeds and I was alert both times so almost managed to stop before hitting them so no people or bikes were harmed in either case.
>tallest climb: 17 m Surely this will kill the sprinters.
But it has a meme ramp finish
Nolan Butler
Ah right okay. Yeah we have paths like that, where they turn the pavement (sidewalk) into a dual-purpose bike and pedestrian path. But I don't use them most of the time because they're shit. Like you say, pedestrians can be unpredictable and it can be dangerous for that reason. Also, look at pic related - it's a dual-purpose bike and pedestrian path (you can see the segregating white line, and the small blue signs show a bike and a pedestrian), but when you get to the bit where that side street joins the main road, you have to stop and look and give way to traffic on the side street. So paths like this are totally useless for cyclists, which is why I use the main road. Not to mention dropped kerbs for driveways that you get on a pavement, and other furniture like lamp posts and bus stops that you have to navigate around.
Thankfully cycle paths are not compulsory over here. Obviously I use them when they're flat and free of street furniture, e.g. if it's a bus/cycle lane. But I don't use them if they're on the pavement with pedestrians. That's pretty ridiculous that you have to use them.
He won two stages there last year, so yeah. In his current form he could probably aim for GC too.

Isaac Wood
In the sense of being considered the GOAT? Then that would be Merckx even though Merckx was a doping cunt and everybody should forget that this twat even existed.
Or in the sense of being a talented manlet? Then probably Nairo Quintana.
He won a stage both this year and last year. He is not as washed up as the memes suggest but he will never win a GT again.
Sebastian Allen
Froome last won the Tour at the age of 32, so Quintana still has three more tries before he's older than that. Sure Quintana is maybe not as strong as Froome and also doesn't have the benefit of the best-funded team, but who knows, unexpected things can happen.
Mason Cox
The difference is that Quintana is a climber manlet who can't TT to save his life. Much harder to win for that type of rider as your team can't just drag you up the mountains but you've got to win it in the mountains.
>we still get the same cute trivago girl after all these years >she's now pregnant fucking hell lads, I just want to watch some road racing, not fell like shit
The Tour of Utah? Haven't been watching it to be honest. Miles are British, though. >The mile is an English unit of length of linear measure equal to 5,280 feet, or 1,760 yards, and standardised as exactly 1,609.344 metres by international agreement in 1959.
David Ortiz
Miles are American. The British are irrelevant since the 19th century. Cultural victory.
Elijah Butler
Sorry Soren but they're British. The Americans decided to use them just like they use our language. But the language is still British, or specifically English, which is why it's called English.
You shouldn't let our country ruffle your feathers so much, we can't be that maddening.
How he do it, bros? I watched him kinda closely today and he has some crazy good reading of the race. Like, he knows when to go along with attacks and when to ignore it and let other people do the job of reeling them back. It's not just superb physical form.

>The mile is an English unit of length of linear measure equal to 5,280 feet, or 1,760 yards, and standardised as exactly 1,609.344 metres by international agreement in 1959.

NOS should make Stef Clement a permanent commentator. Actually gives some good/controversial info. Boomers should make way for the new.

Wtf? I was just showing my support to mighty JUMBO VISMA team, why are you guys always racist against anything Dutch. Everybody was always so angry during the Tour when WE won all those stages LOL!!!! You are all just jealous because we are superior to every other country. Every time I say something about a Dutch rider you show your hate against us. It's getting ridiculous, why is everybody always SEETHING against me.
Did you know Michael Boogerd never tested positive in his life once? That means he is INNOCENT. You guys are all a bunch of hypocrites. I never hear complaining about Hippolyte Aucouturier, even though he took a shortcut by train during the 1904 Tour! He should be forgotten from history and stripped of everything, yet he is always talked about here and adored. And now I say something positive about OUR team and I get attacked for NO REASON AT ALL. I just support my country and nothing else. And no, you cannot see my Antwan Tolhoek tattoo, that is reserved for the ladies ;). If I ever meet a nice vegan girl who loves me, I will definitely not allow her son to visit this racist, misogynist place.
Pic related, remember that we are the best!!! Jantje Buitenlander just cannot handle it LOL

what the fuck Mareczko is trying to achieve with this form? He's not Ewan, I don't think that this trick with super low position works as good for taller riders.
>comparing a known doper to someone who has never been implicated in doping whatsoever because you are THIS mad about our success and your failure >emulating other people's posts because you are THIS jealous of the success of other posters' nations while your nation loses >getting THIS buttmad just because some posters on a fucking taiwanese sock puppet forum pointed out that their country's cyclists are successful, while yours are not Is it possible to be more pathetic than this? Because I honestly don't believe it is. Now go and enjoy your failures, I bet you relish them.
And the continentals like you literally STILL cannot stop getting mad just because British cyclists exist and just because British posters post in a cycling thread. What is this continental pathology that makes you all so supremely mad at the fact that one single country takes part in this sport? Maybe it is just the jealousy of success but if that's really the reason then it's a bit sad, isn't it?
I'm pretty happy actually mate, we've won quite a few GTs in the last few years. Might be the end of an era now with Froomey's accident but it was good while it lasted.
