Predictions for 2021 regs. Who will boss it? Will Merc remain dominant? Will Ferrari finally get their shit together? Will Honda retain their upward trajectory and thus allow Red Bull to leapfrog both of them? Will McLaren surprise everyone and make a massive leap? Will Renault somehow harness the power of French autism and not do shit for once?
Is there a healthier German dish than an artiCHOKE and potato
Jayden Davis
Renault stay shitters Honda wins lmao Mercedes wins lmao still going, too Ferrari occasional win, championship challengers Williams back in the midfield Toro Rosso best of the rest (best includes McLel now) Alfa close second best of the rest lmao Racing Point Haas still mid of midfield New team will enter
Jose Wright
I'm definitely seeing a more even grid even if we don't see it yet, 2020 will already be a season that in a couple ways will define how the teams start out honda have merc's former engine guy so I assume they'll be on the top and you know how newey is, he's probably already figuring out loopholes mercedes are and will be the team to beat ferrari have a bad aero concept but apart from that if they can catch a lucky wave they can cruise with the other 2 or stay where they are now mclaren could massively improve and maybe alfa could catch up too reno is a question mark, a fish out of water the rest will just cope I guess
I can agree with most of that apart from the Williams bit. I bet they'll remain shit until they go bankrupt. Unless some rich person or company buys them.
Ferrari They're the only big team to have Ground Effect experience McLel might actually come back since they have Ground Effect experience as well Dunno about Willams though since they have that experience too but doesn't have enough money to do shit

Shit opinion. Last ground effect cars were so long ago that anyone who thinks Ferrari and Williams have an advantage simply by being around back then is retarded
Parker Morgan
>experience Ground effect was last used 40 years ago, so most of the people who worked on it will now be long gone. And even if there are a couple of dinosaurs in the management of these teams who remember working on ground effect as junior 20-year-old whippersnappers, I doubt their knowledge of primitive techniques will be relevant anymore to modern practices, like using CFD and whatever.
Charles Ross
Assuming the engine changes are only minor and there is no budget cap, this is my order:
>Merc and Red Bull Merc will hire approximately 5000 aero engineers to start running simulations the second the regulations are announced. Even if the concept is bad the car will still be good. Red Bull has Newey so of course the aero and chassis will be figured out. Honda will go all out for the new regulations. >Ferrari and Mclaren Both will shift focus to the 2021 regs ASAP but even Ferrari doesn't have Merc's blank check, Mclaren even less so. Mclaren makes up the deficit to Ferrari with their personnel. >Renault Ricci is further exposed as an Alonso tier decision maker as Renault starts their car earlier than anyone else, but are hamstrung by a small budget and end up fifth. >Alfa Romeo Privateer with probably the most investment, so they end up the highest. May be hamstrung if they get too caught up in their 2020 season (because Gimi) and start work on the 2021 car too late. >Williams Williams has the knowledge, but every day they delay the 2021 regs is worse for them. The 2014 car was good because Williams completely abandoned their 2013 and maybe even 2012 car to work on it. The longer the regs are delayed, the less advantage. Also, there are several other teams this time who will probably tank their 2020 seasons to focus on 2021, so I think they will get stuck in the midfield. >Haas There is 0 reason for Haas to be good. >Racing Point Stroll and son will seethe if they don't perform better next year. Watch them go all in on 2020, while the rest of the midfield focuses on 2021, convincing themselves they have made huge progress over the course of the season. Then they show up at testing 1/2 second off the field, having started work on the car 4 months ago.
If the budget cap is implemented, I expect more or less the same order, just smaller gaps. It will probably take 5 years before the budget cap is actually sorted out, another 5 for actual parity.
Jaxon Bell
There is nothing more that I want right now than to fucking die
What are blueprints and schematics for 100 dollars Alex?
Colton Mitchell
My only contrary prediction would be that Ferrari tanks their 2020 car to focus on 2021 and it pays huge dividends. I have a feeling this is why Vettel hasn't left yet. I think they are all in on the new regulations.
I agree with your viewpoint but you don't have to be such a cunt about it.
I just don't think it will be relevant. The aerodynamicists in the team now, the vast majority of whom won't have been working 40 years ago, will probably know more about ground effect now than people did back then. The techniques these days are so advanced. I would imagine that if you know about aerodynamics then you know everything you need to know about ground effect. Plus, the new regulations make the exploitation of ground effect slightly different. Skirts are not going to be used as they originally were in the late 70s. So I just don't think the designs back then will be relevant to the new regulations, given how much technology has progressed, how far our technologies for designing cars (like CFD) have progressed, etc.
Jaxson Martin
Are you serious?
The only shit they are gonna learn from a 1982 drawing is the same kind of shit you can learn from an mid level aero-engineering textbook, because that's what those ground effect cars were designed off of.
Even the backmarker 2021 cars will have hundreds, if not thousands of hours of CFD simulations just to optimize the aero.
Julian Hernandez
So what are the chances that Ferrari are going to join WEC with the new 2020 regs?

I predict Mercedes F1 will dominant for a full 10-seasons straight will RBH with occasional win. Ferrari will only win Monza as token victory.

>budget cap There is going to be a budget cap though, they've already agreed on $175 million for the year per team. However, this crucially doesn't include things like engine development (or any engine costs at all), nor salaries of the drivers, nor salaries of the top three paid executives, nor marketing costs, and I think I read somewhere it doesn't include hospitality either. So basically there will still be a lot of opportunity for the top teams to completely outspend their rivals. But there is a budget cap, as flawed as it may be.
>Merc will hire approximately 5000 aero engineers Well they can't seeing as their current chassis workforce is around 900, and both they and Ferrari have said they might have to even lay people off due to the incoming budget cap.
>Honda will go all out for the new regulations Apparently the only engine changes for 2021 are a higher rev limit, no MGU-H, and a more powerful MGU-K. So it's not a massive change. But I suppose it is still a change so yeah, maybe.
>even Ferrari doesn't have Merc's blank check I've read that Ferrari actually spent more money last year than Mercedes. They get more money from FOM than anyone else so it makes sense.
>Ricci is further exposed as an Alonso tier decision maker I think everyone knew that as soon as he announced his move.
>The 2014 car was good because Williams completely abandoned their 2013 It was good because it had a Merc engine, at a time when the Merc engine was significantly more powerful than the other engines. Although I guess they did manage to comprehensively beat McLaren running the same engine, so yeah they must have done something right with the chassis I guess.

Even if someone was 30 years old then they would have only been 5 when Senna died. So to have seen them race then you'd have to be like 35 at least, and even someone who was 35 would have been 10 when Senna died, and 10 is quite young - probably too young to make good judgements about who was/wasn't a good driver. And actually obviously you'd need Prost around to make the comparison, so this hypothetical 35 year old would have only been 9 when Prost and Senna raced in the same year. But really to compare them you'd need to have watched their time together as teammates at McLaren, which would require you to be even older.
>even older Oh no, even older than 35??? Who could possibly be THAT old?
It's also really sad that they never recorded F1 races before 1995. There's just no way those poor 25-year-olds or younger (which is pretty much everyone alive) will now ever be able to see those races.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Raidillon, is in fact, Eau Rouge/Raidillon, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Le Raidillon de l’Eau Rouge.
Raidillon is not a turn unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning turn system made useful by the Eau ouge, the old main straight and vital turn components comprising a full turn system as defined by FIA.
Many Formula One drivers drive on a modified version of the Le Raidillon de l’Eau Rouge system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Le Raidillon de l’Eau Rouge which is widely driven today is often called “Raidillon”, and many of the drivers and media pundits are not aware that it is basically the Eau Rouge system, developed by the Spa Francorchamps circuit. There really is a Raidillon, and these people are driving on it, but it is just a part of the system they drive through.
Raidillon is the left hander; the turn in the system that allows the machine’s acceleration to the Kemmel straight. Raidillon is an essential part of the turn system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete turn system. Raidillon is normally used in combination with the Eau Rouge: the whole system is basically Eau Rouge with Raidillon added, or Eau Rouge/Raidillon. All those who talk about so-called “Raidillon” are really talking about Le Raidillon de l’Eau Rouge.

Predictions for 2021 >Mercedes To remain the team to beat, at least for 2021 if not the following years. Who knows how many staff they have to lay off or hide from the FIA but they'll be on top no matter what. >Red Bull Will make a big step forward since Newey's the one who's been pioneering the recent floor-generated downforce renaissance over the last few years, if staff have to be "laid off" several will probably find their way to Toro Rosso, this budget cap will probably favor sister teams quite heavily. >Ferrari Will be good if still not championship winning, they just don't seem to have what it takes to win consistently. Sacking Benis was a terrible idea since he was spot on with the "winning habit" statements he made all the time, and I don't think Binotto really gets that; he wants to win by making the faster car. Similar to Toro Rosso, Alfa Romeo will probably benefit massively from the budget cap, with Ferrari sequestering engineering talent over there for some sneaky collaborative fuckery. >Mclaren and Renault Both teams have a chance to get a leg up early with the budget cap. It won't affect their 2021 cars so much since the cap won't come into effect until 2021, once the cars are already designed, but operationally both these teams are pretty close to the $175 million a year budget already, and having that hard limit could tempt investors into covering the gap to the top three teams. As long as the engine partnership bears fruit and remains collaborative, they could have the organizational advantage without having to reshuffle or downsize for the new regs. >Racing Stroll Depends on if daddy Stroll can find the money to meet the budget cap. Probably a bottom three team for 2021, might improve later. >Williams They need a big cash injection and they need it in February of next year. If they don't get more money they're fucked. They can't afford not to develop for 2020 which will hurt them for 2021.
James Evans
>a higher rev limit, no MGU-H, and a more powerful MGU-K wrong wrong and probably wrong The engine regs aren't changing much if at all except for a proposed higher fuel flow limit to encourage higher RPMs, since the current cars redline much lower than the 15k rpm limit imposed by the rules (this will hurt Honda since they rev higher than anyone else currently).
I've posted here some weeks ago about 2 groups who were initially interested but gave up when the rule decision was delayed. One of them was linked to Manor and the other I don't remember
Ah I think you're right, my mistake, I had been reading some sketchy website saying the stuff about removing the MGU-H, but apparently it's undecided and the current manufacturers actually want to keep the MGU-H because they've spent so much money developing it.
I guess this would support the point I was making further though. If there's not much change then there might not be much opportunity for Honda to attack these new regs and try and find advantages where other manufacturers don't. But who knows, if they increase spending maybe they will just improve performance anyway.
Grayson Myers

They were gonna remove the MGU-H but once Aston and Porsche decided they didn't want to enter F1 the decision was reversed. It's extremely unlikely any actual engine changes will happen other than those based around the sound of them. Honda's best bet is for Newey meme aero magic to carry them until they reach parity with Ferrari and Mercedes.

>They were gonna remove the MGU-H but once Aston and Porsche decided they didn't want to enter F1 the decision was reversed Yeah that's what I read although I think it's still not finalised; I think the only part of the 2021 regs that are settled upon is the budget cap, because the smaller teams made that a condition of agreeing to postpone the rest of the regulations.

So they will probably go with F3/20. At which point there is a full on fucking war between Tatuus and Dallara.
Also just to be clear Dallara's official naming structure for the new FIA F2 and F3 cars is the F2 2018 & F3 2019. You don't shorten it..

>michelin willing to make 13s for this but not F1 mob of cunts

Probably to do with the Mong crash. Trying to keep the car behind from hitting the hard gearbox/engine and instead slowing down in the crumple zone.
Also this chassis is going to be built to F1 2018 safety standards because that means they can use better materials and keep it as light as the old F3 chassis. Which means it's going to be more advanced than the current FIA F3 chassis.
God I fucking hate the FIA for fucking with F3 so fucking much. This is so annoying to talk about.
Andrew Long
I can't find a proper pic of an F3/17 but it doesn't seems to stick out so much, plus I remember the back light being triangular shaped and not rectangular That might be part of the kit mentioned by as new F3/19 do have the back penis
It’s an air restrictor to keep the engines even. IIRC it is mounted off to the side because when you put the engine in the optimal position to lower the COG it forces the intake manifold off on an angle.

You are fucking idiot.
Thomas Collins
Since we are talking about f3 cars, for me its the mygale m10 f3 :D
The FIA F3 regulations specify an air restrictor all the way up until 2018. Only the 2019 cars seem to abandon the air restrictor.
For the F3 International cars this is because the new cars are derived straight from V6 engined GP3s of last year.
For regional series like F3 Asia, the rules have been explicitly rewritten to specify that air must flow through the roll hoop so that they all look the same
Thats not what I said though. I didn't say he is a really nice guy because I don't think he is, he is just more fake and tryhard than he is a genuine asshole.

>sub-saharan n*ggers >kenya color me surprised, purely economic reasons nothing to do with iq
Hunter Edwards
If buttass and ghastly were teammates, who'd be more off the pace compared to the other over the season?
Ryder Ross
Bottas is an absolute fucking joke. He has won five races in three season drivier BY FAR the best car on the grid. He is literally worse than Barichello or any wingman ever in the history of the sport
Blake Collins
Wolff said they'd announce whether or not they'd sack buttass this month. And also buttass has said he's making backup plans in case he gets sacked. I'm thinking it's a done deal he's out of Mercedes next season.
he literally did nto win a single race last year in a car a second+ a lap faster than everybody else, he may be at this point close to the worst driver on the entire grid
you put some shitter like Grosjean in that car and he wins races, maybe only Giovinazzi is worse
Jackson Bennett
Gio at least had the excuse that he’s been out the game a while. He does okay in races but really does need to get closer to Kimi’s times in qualy post break. I thought he did a pretty good job in the conditions in Hockenheim though...unlike a certain someone.
I reckon sports gambling is fine if you know what you're doing. Some people are professional gamblers, they make their living from it.
Gambling in a casino on roulette, yeah that's fucking stupid because it's pure chance. But sports betting, if you're smart and very knowledgeable, you can make some money. Of course you will lose money too because anything can happen in sport, but if you're pretty good, you should hopefully turn a profit. Hopefully.
I haven't bet for a long time, years at this point, but I think if you're smart you can make money out of it.
Jason Edwards
I think they'll keep bottas because he's capable of finishing second(behind hammy) in the merc and he does what he's told
Alexander Bailey
To be fair the Ferrari was a good car last season, they just fucked up with strategy a lot of the time. Also Valtteri did okay, a couple of poles, quite a few fastest laps. But yeah it obviously wasn't hugely successful.
I think Bottas can be a good driver, on a good day. I think he's just allowing himself to get frustrated and that's why he's not getting the best performances out of himself. Maybe he should go see a sports psychologist like Nico recommended, instead of dismissing it and believing that the way he's currently working is the only way to get success.
>he is just more fake and tryhard than he is a genuine asshole. Why can't he be equal amounts of both? The fact that he doesn't seem to get along with many other drivers and that the mood at every single podium or press conference he doesn't attent is noticably lighter and happier tells me that he's extremely unlikable. Whether he is slightly more fake than he is an arse, or whether it's the other way around ... honestly, I don't think there's a way to properly gauge that.
For the team, though, the most important thing is maximising points. They don't care if Ham wins the championship, or Rosberg, or Bottas, or Ocon - as long as it's their driver. Maybe they'll feel that Ocon is the better driver to achieve this, who knows.
Ayden Perry
But they do care who wins it, after a certain point, as shown by the it's for the championship radio messaged from toto to bottas. Bottass is well capable of bringing home enough points to secure the WCC for merc as well
>But they do care who wins it, after a certain point No, they don't. If they get to a point in the season where only one driver has a realistic chance of winning the WDC, and a rival is severely threatening their title bid, then sure they may well support their best-placed driver, as many teams have done. But at the beginning of every season, it is open for each driver to try and stamp their mark. Nico was not told to let Hamilton win the championship in 2016. They were allowed to fight for the championship.
Ryder Campbell
juliano looks like a dweeb
Jacob Roberts
I love that you went to make that image, keshy
Owen Torres
Sure but I'm stubborn and I believe that merc favours ham, and if anybody tries to make him look bad they'll get the boot. It raises the question, why did Rossberg leave after winning the wdc.
Lucas Gonzalez
>vettee back to rbr >ferrari doubles down on rookies because of muh strattegi and bumps mick up that would truly be the most interesting timeline
Camden Nelson
ummm thats actually radillon :^)
Caleb Diaz
I thought it was worth it. I don't know what "keshy" means by the way.
Ryder Myers
>I thought it was worth it. And you call others "seething"?
>“There was always somebody making a gun or a rocket projectile somewhere. We [the Formula 1 team] were at Langley Road, which was about a quarter of a mile up the hill from Hollyfield Road, where the main Cooper headquarters were. Noddy Grohmann had a three-inch diameter tube which we converted into a mortar. “We used to try and hit the design office, which was on the top floor of the Cooper building, by aiming swedes at it. We would phone Eddie Stait who was in the office, to say ‘We’re aiming one now’ and he would give us feedback such as ‘Well, it fell short and it’s too far to the left.’

2020 >Vettee to RBR with amd amx >Red Bull now have two tire management gods >queue instant anglo media saying red bull have got on top of their tires and are the favorites for the title >Bottas to Ferrari >Ferrari now have two fast qualifiers but race chokers >Ocon IN 2021 >amx to Merc >Albon to Red Bull >Hamilton retires, Russell replaces him

based "still hasn't learnt ronfacepalm.png" poster
They don't favour anybody until it's late into a season and their WDC chances are being threatened, at which point they might feel that they have to support one particular driver over another in order to secure the championship. >why did Rossberg leave after winning the wdc You think he lied about his reasons for leaving? Is there any evidence of this whatsoever?
Nathan Baker
Well I guess that's how engineers live
Xavier Ross
>SEETHING this much just because a british driver is winning Lmao, sad.
>SEETHING this much just because other people are making posts that make you butthurt Lmao, sad.
Fug yeah, WRC marshal list is here, and I'm there again. Only problem is it's going to be VERY tiring since we will do SSS, Ula and Datça stages. Friday is going to be hell since we only have about 2 hours to sleep in between stages
>Some arse. Gimi on the first time he saw Minttu (The Unknown Kimi Raikkonen, Hotakainen, 2018)
Robert Fisher
Dunno, depends what you mean. If you mean a woman who has a controlling stake in a team, then I guess Claire Williams, or even Monisha Kaltenborn, although obviously she isn't at Sauber anymore.
Or if you mean just someone with the same sort of softly-spoken personality and mannerisms of Delia Smith, then Lee McKenzie is perhaps the best analogue I can think of.
Why is it shaking so much? Don't Sky know how to take static shots?
Grayson Jackson
we're doing it again, lads
Ayden Ross
>sky is a person
Aiden Gonzalez
Thought the same but if it's from a notebook the cameraguy has a shoulder cam, not really the steadiest of the rigs out there
Thomas Torres
What is the higher %? Ferrari fuck ups per race or Morecambe's loss rate?
Jackson Gutierrez
No, retard. Sky are multiple persons, which is why I used a plural. Ever considered studying your own language to a level where you could call yourself proficient in it?
Eli Lopez
So multiple people were filming that scene?
Blake Rivera
get a room you two
David Lopez
yes
Hunter Barnes
When I was a kid, I always thought they were saying "one Pablo Montoya". Am I the only one/Juan?
Alexander Perry
Multiple people are holding the camera? lol

dubs and hamilton and leclerc crash into each other and retire in front of the orange army grandstand in spa
Dylan Taylor
yes
Logan Clark
>orange army cringe
Cooper Bell
>Multiple people are holding the camera? lol No one should be holding the camera, idiot. That's what the problem is here. The one at fault is not the cameraman, but the production crew as a whole, most importantly the producing director. And now stop being retarded.
David Stewart
How do you film an autistic man getting lost in the pitlane with a static camera? Retard
Jose Hernandez
Yeah, but that's just a fragment from ted's notebook. Pete the cameraman always carries the camera on his shoulder. No gimbal, to tripod.
Parker Lewis
dubs and Hamilton crashes into Verstappen, killing him, while Leclerc manages to crash right into the middle of the "orange army grandstand" in Spa
Ian Baker
>Hamilel seething at Bossberg's troll op
What's this aboot?
Robert Parker
You now remember this soft shit ran away from the dubs demanding he play a tune using a chugged beer bottle in his arse. With this being the requested tune. Sad really. youtube.com/watch?v=qgiBkydMW8k
>No gimbal, to tripod. Well, yeah. That's the problem when you want to do a shot like that, and why you'd bring something like that along. It's not as if they couldn't take 10 more minutes for that shot.
Lincoln Collins
>arguing about fucking camera angles Who would be autistic enough to bring this up? Oh yes, a kraut.
digits and Verstappen suffers a career ending injury while simultaneously being exposed in doing so in Spa
Daniel Thomas
They couldn't, they were live on air.
Nolan Thomas
Who won practice today?
Jackson Barnes
Are you fucking retarded? Cameraman saw the guy walking around and pointed his camera at him. It takes the guy 11 seconds to walk across frame, how far do you think he would've come in 10 minutes?
Christian Hughes
Dog got on track
Jose Flores
>calls everyone retarded while being completely retarded
Is Simon in Germany already?
Nicholas Morris
Germany is correct. They should just have the camera on a monopod. You can still carry it around but you can take a nice stable shot.
They have tried to set up an artsy shot but the shaking ruins it.
Gabriel Martin
love some extreme autism in my /f1/
Liam Roberts
Can anyone even remember even what was the incident between the Australian & the onions here?
post the webm of the lads with a hose trying to spray water on ted
Wyatt Collins
only if you post the webm of your Marta licking my bum
Jaxon Flores
Well ... okay, I didn't think they were. That's fair. But they shouldn't have done a staged shot like this then. That's not something you do on live TV.
>Rosberg: "F1 drivers physically peak at 30-32, after that they lose speed but experience more than makes up for it" >Hammo: "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I DON'T CARE WHAT OTHERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT ME I'M GOD STILL I RISE DON'T LET ANYBODY PUT YOU DOWN"

Why do they all look so apathetic? What happened to those children?
Aaron Allen
Rosberg seethingly was saying he thinks Max is better because Lewis is too old. So Lewis just correctly pointed out that Rosberg never had the success that Lewis did.
