Yonago Higashi are from the small rural prefecture of Tottori in the western part of Honshu. They are a traditional public school power who have not been successful in recent years but did make Spring Koshien this year, so they are experiencing a renaissance.
Chiben Wakayama are a private school from the Kansai prefecture of Wakayama and are a mainstay of Koshien, having attended Summer Koshien 23 times and Spring Koshien 12 times. Their heyday was in the 90s when they won Spring Koshien in 1994 and two Summer Koshien within four years (1997,2000). You may remember them from their epic choke in the first round to surprise quarter-finalists Ohmi as well as their earlier choke this year at Spring Koshien. Surprisingly for such a storied team, they have very little successful NPB alumni. The only of note is Haruki Nishikawa (Outfielder for the Fighters).
Meitoku Gijiku are a private school from Kochi on the island of Shikoku. They are probably the most successful team from Shikoku, having won summer koshien in 2002, and reached summer koshien semi finals in 2012 and 2016.
Toin (not to be confused with Osaka Toin) are a private school who will represent the prefecture of Oita in Kyushu. They represented Oita last year as well but that was their first appearance in 28 years. Very much a team on the resurgence.
Maebashi Ikuei are a private school from the rural prefecture of Gunma north of Tokyo. This is their fourth straight appearance at Koshien. They famously won 2013 Koshien in their first ever Summer Koshien appearance, where their second-year ace Kona Takahashi (current Lions starter) threw 4 out of 5 complete games to lead his team to victory.
Kokugakuin Kugayama are a university-affiliated privateschool from the traditional powerhouse region of West Tokyo. They have a little baseball history, but have not qualified for summer koshien since 1991. (They attended spring koshien in 2011).
Tsuruga Kehi are a private school from the prefecture of Fukui in central Honshu. Theywon 2015 Spring Koshien and this will be their 4th qualification in the past 6 years. They have numerous famous alumni including Akihiro Higashide (Former Carp Infielder) Tetsuya Utsumi (Former Giants and now Lions pitcher) Masataka Yoshida (Buffaloes star outfielder)
Tomishima are a public school from the prefecture of Miyazaki in Kyushu. They are riding on a good generation of players as their only previous appearance was in 2018 spring koshien (where they lost their only game)
There aren't any actual Japs that post on here, only autistic weebs - there's no need for you to post in Japanese.
Thanks.
Kayden Fisher
>south africa
also there is some japs that posts sometimes here
Bentley Cox
>7-1
Alexander Ramirez
see also i post the JP names beacuse the graphics are in Japanese, so i want people know who team is who
Zachary Johnson
>south africa thinks their opinion is worth something
Oliver Nguyen
ah thanks, shit bracket but its something i guess
Carter Phillips
All right I'm home from work what did I miss.
Jace Martinez
i guess ikuei aussie bro will make one when he get free of work, he said that would work today
Hudson Perry
nothing yet, first game and Reverse Carp is pretending that plays good
Gabriel Carter
yeah its fine for now but the formatting is poor for the later bracket portion nothing much really. carpu almost choked it away but now they are comfortable
Lincoln Powell
desu bracket only makes sense from round 2 since its actual round of 32
this one is more like cutting phase to fit 49 onto 32
you gotta go for it, youll regret it its been a while for me but each commercial i see reminds me of how delicious my mouth burns after digging right in. the cravings are real.
Blake Morris
preview of current game about to start
Jason Price
not slow mo but what an sexy throw to shutout the runner
honestly koshien threads are probably are one of the last impressions of the old internet. Just a small group of anons in a thread
Grayson Thomas
the japs that show up on thread are so random yo
they just post something then fade way lmao
it depends, some come from local schools some really make lookings
Camden Adams
I wonder if the Maebashi oendan has to play some Touch and H2 songs because Adachi-sama is from Gunma.
Julian Gonzalez
It's different. The pace of play is much faster/better than mlb. There's tradition, hustle, raw emotion, spectacle.
It's like if March Madness and the LLWS had a baby, basically.
And I'm a sucker for anything with a bracket.
William Adams
that makes me smile and kinda sad at same time but its too true and deep
Mason Martinez
>sucker for anything with a bracket you would like the fact that almost all jap tournaments are like this lol
i think that execpt the pro baseball/soccer leagues have an tournament system like this
Luis Hill
this song that they are playing now isnt from an anime/game?
Evan Morgan
That's the only reason I watched the soccer world cup. Or drag racing. Hoping to make it to glorious Nippon someday for takoyaki and yakyuu. Maybe some noodles out of a little plastic batting helmet, idk.
Joseph Richardson
I think they're playing Green Day atm.
Levi Taylor
i meant the another team, i will tell again if they play again
Colton Richardson
its tied bois
Brandon White
oh no gunma bros...
Daniel Walker
jesus that kid is huge
Liam Cooper
this game seems to be an dramatic game, maybe full with runs
Bruh you nearly got picked the first time, that should've been enough of a warning
Ryan Lee
Passed out last night
Is it me, or has it been pretty chalk so far? Last year was my first time watching, and I wasn't really emotionally invested until Kanano beat Ohmi in the Elite 8.
How common are Cinderella teams advancing at Koshien?
Jaxon Gomez
You usually get one every 5 years or so making the final. They're not that common although you usually get one cinderella team make the quarters most years. Ones of the top of my head recently are -Saga Kita (2007) (The ultimate cinderella story, public school who didn't win a game the previous year( -Maebashi Ikuei (2013) (No-name small private school from Gunma who win off the back of their second-year ace Kona Takahashi) -Kanaashi Nogyo (2018) (Kanano from last year with Yoshida).
Michael Wright
On a side note, it's intriguing that many of the traditional powerhouses failed to make it this year like Osaka Toin (Osaka), Yokohama (Kanagawa), Ryukokudai Heian(Kyoto), Tenri(Nara), Hotoku Gakuen(Hyogo), Koryo(Hiroshima), Konan(Okinawa), Hokkai(Hokkaido).
David Thomas
Thanks, Ozbro. I guess I was spoiled last year, although a run to the quarters would be more than enough for me, sempai
Charles White
aas i told, first round wasnt good this year
Joshua Stewart
The senbatsu winner also failed to qualify
Kayden Wilson
damn I recognize a few of those from last year, kinda a bummer but it's still gonna be interesting otherwise. At least i saw ohmi in it again this year so I'm excited to watch them
Alexander Gonzalez
Also Nichidai-San, Waseda from West Tokyo and Nisho and Teikyo from East Tokyo.
Makes what Kugayama did last night all the more impressive imo.
Hunter Ward
The Tokyo Big 6 had an really bad season on high school this year
Hanamaki Higashi are a private school from the northern prefecture of Iwate. Although they recruit almost exclusively from the local region, Hanamaki Higashi have produced both Shohei Ohtani and Yusei Kikuchi. Yusei Kikuchi became a household name in particular after his school's performances in 2009, where they reached the Spring final and the Summer semi-finals.
Naruto are a public school from Tokushima on the island of Shikoku and they are a recent Koshien fixture, having reached the semis of 2013 and 2016 Summer Koshien.
Iiyama are a public school from Nagano (a mountainous prefecture famous for hosting the 1998 winter olympics). Iiyama have never qualified for Koshien and up until the qualifying tournament , hadn't won a game since last year. In a story reminiscent of friday night lights, Iiyama is a small 20,000 people farmtown, with just the one high school.
Sendai Ikuei are a koshien powerhouse from Miyagi prefecture in northern Japan. Their school just happens to be walking distance from the stadium of the Rakuten Eagles and as such, they have some history of sending players to the Eagles. They reached the 2015 Koshien final but have never won Koshien. The star player for that 2015 team is current Marines infielder Taiga Hirasawa.
Narashino are a public school from the Kanto prefecture of Chiba (which borders Tokyo from the east). They are a semi-regular attendant of Koshien, winning Summer Koshien twice in 1967 and 1975. They were the finalists for Spring Koshien this year (where they lost to Toho who have not qualified for this year's summer koshien). Their most famous alumni are Masayuki Kakefu ("Mr Tiger", Hanshin Tigers legend) Kazuya Fukuura (Long-time Marines infielder, recently reached 2000 hits in npb)
Okinawa Shogaku are commonly known as Okisho and come from the island of Okinawa. They have traditionally dominated Okinawa in conjunction with Konan HS, and won Spring Koshien in 1999 and 2008.
Takamatsu Shogyo are a traditional public school powerhouse from Kagawa prefecture on the island of Shikoku. They did reach Spring Koshien this year (where they made the second round) but despite their historical prowess (reached 9 spring/summer koshien finals), they haven't attended summer koshien since 1996.
Tsuruoka Higashi are a private school from Yamagata prefecture in Northern Japan. This is their fourth appearance since 2011, but they have never made it past the third round in their previous Koshien appearances.
i am getting ready for the naruto memes if they ended making an upset winning the ohtani/kikuchi school
Owen Martinez
what you mean?
Ian Ortiz
>Iiyama have never qualified for Koshien and up until the qualifying tournament , hadn't won a game since last year. Say what now?!? They were 0 for 2019 and just got hot during qualifiers?!?
Liam King
That game can either turn out fantastic or terrible.
Ikuei might score 20 if they keep their foot on the gas.
Cameron Brown
based, do you are liking the athimosphere? what you think about the beer girls?
Ryder Morgan
How recently have you had takoyaki
Anthony Scott
Did you go to the museum?
Evan Young
museum is nice, but is better visit during non-game days or when Tigers are playing (beacuse they give free shirts if you are going to see the game)
Dylan Johnson
lmao they are playing that funny song?
Austin Thomas
btw what is the name of song? i forget the name
Caleb Nguyen
how much Takoyaki have you consumed?
Jose Gomez
11yama donmai donmai it's only 8 runs to win this now. i believe. >fills out captcha *9 runs
Jason Reyes
charge the mound
Owen Collins
*10 as long as they dont get another run i belive 11yama can pull this off.
Gavin Turner
Atmosphere is insane. Bands are WAY louder in person, the bass drums hit hard. The student sections get going the minute it starts and don't stop till it's over, no matter the score. I only wish I went last year when Konan and Osaka Going were there, they had sick bands just from the streams. It's rough for the beer girls because it's so hot and they're going up and down nonstop. They switched out between games but you could see them drenched in sweat.
I actually haven't had any since my first day Sunday in Dotonbori. I really like it and it's cool that they're slinging that stuff basically everywhere in this region.
It's legal and encouraged to charge the mound if the pitcher doesn't take his cap off after a hbp
Grayson Jones
*13 F
Juan Lewis
O H M I H M I
Anthony Scott
how many for a called game?
James Bell
I fucked up the pic but yeah I went to the museum. I went at the end of the last game that day because it was closing and didn't want to miss it, but then I ended up missing the extra innings so I was kinda upset.
I went there in 2017, but back then the outfield was still free. How long is the line these days? (That was the main reason why i went outfield cause the lines were so long.
Oliver Smith
Plus you could just hop out during breaks and walk across to the shopping centre across the street and buy food and booze (which they never confisticated when you went in!)
Ryder Thompson
Never forget that iiyama scored first and lead this game
lmao 仙台育英 is already top 1 on japanese twitter (the only country where twitter isnt radioactive toxic)
Thomas Allen
THIS PLEASES ME
Jace Bell
someone on niconicodouga bet 33-4
Ian Young
Although they are my team, this isn't a particularly vintage Sendai Ikuei team. (There's no real draft prospects here) I think it's more a sign of how mediocre Iiyama are (Nagano is quite a weak prefecture generally)
Who is Niigata Prefecture's representative? I'd say I have a soft spot for them solely because back when i was in high School I got to study in Japan over the summer for a Month I stayed on Sado Island which is considered in Niigata so I guess I'll root for someone from Niigata
Sebastian Roberts
Hmmm Yamanashi Gakuin scored 24 point in this year's spring Koshien. 15+ run isn't that uncommon in Koshien
Ayden Flores
Nihon Bunri
Ayden Cruz
Nippon Bunri are a private school who are a regular recent fixture at Koshien. Not the most romantic team but on the other hand, you'll probably get at least two games to support them.
Takamatsu Shogyo Batting Lineup 8-Higura (CF) 6-Otsuka (SS) 4-Taniguchi (2B) 7-Kishimoto (LF) 2-Abe (C) 9-Asano (RF) 15-Kasai (1B) 1-Kagawa (P) 5-Ishimaru (3B) Takamatsu Shogyo are a traditional public school powerhouse from Kagawa prefecture on the island of Shikoku. They did reach Spring Koshien this year (where they made the second round) but despite their historical prowess (reached 9 spring/summer koshien finals), they haven't attended summer koshien since 1996.
Jaxson Jones
6-Kouno (SS) 9-Takehana (RF) 8-Yamashita (CF) 2-Ooi (C) 7-Maruyama (LF) 3-Mori(1B) 4-Yamaji (2B) 5-Takarada(3B) 11-Kageyama (P) Tsuruoka Higashi are a private school from Yamagata prefecture in Northern Japan. This is their fourth appearance since 2011, but they have never made it past the third round in their previous Koshien appearances.
Did you talked with the players? how they feel play basedball?
Carson Kelly
Nah, just walked past while I was on my way to Eagles stadium. They were doing some pe thing in the evening. I did walk past the baseball diamond though.
Ethan Williams
shame, you could talk to director and make them Down Under During Koshien just for keks
Is there a way to get rid of the game score in the links in the full games section?
Liam Allen
goddamn it I forgot this year I can’t believe I missed 3 days
Jordan Wright
Bump 4 start
Jordan Johnson
>3 pitches in before the siren finished hayai

They reached the final in 2009 as well as the quarters in 2014 Baystars relief pitcher Satoshi Iizuka is their most famous alumni.
David Torres
Kanto Daiichi (East Tokyo) Batting Lineup 8-Okubo (CF) 4-Muraoka (2B) 7-Hirakawa(LF) 3-Hiraizumi (1B) 2-Noguchi (C) 6-Shibutani (SS) 17-Shigemasa (RF) 15-Hatsutani (3B) 1-Tsuchiya (P) Kanto Daiichi are a private school from East Tokyo (which has traditionally been the weaker Tokyo region). They are a relatively recent Koshien fixture who famously made the 2015 Summer semis with Louis Okoye (Half-black Eagles Outfielder).
Andrew Diaz
B U N T E D
Andrew Anderson
imagine how demoralizing it must be as a pitcher to give up 2 singles to 2 bunts on your first 2 pitches of the game. absolute madmen.
Joseph Thomas
now he's walking them. demoralization is effective.
Kumamoto Kogyo (Kumamoto) Batting Lineup 4-Tanaka (2B) 6-Yoshiyama(SS) 9-Ono (RF) 7-Uchida (LF) 5-Mori (3B) 2-Aoyama (C) 3-Yamaguchi (1B) 10-Minomo (P) 13-Egawa (CF) Kumamoto Kogyo are a public school from Kumamoto (Kyushu) and are one of the few traditional powerhouse public schools, who famously lost a very close Koshien final in 1996 They have numerous alumni including Masahiro Araki (Longtime Dragons infielder) Tomohiro Maeda (Carp legend)
Easton Fisher

This is their fourth straight qualification for Summer Koshien although they have only won one game in their previous three qualifications.
Ryan Parker
Haha, time for bunts
Benjamin Hill
what the fuck was that
Zachary Davis
Finally got home from work BS. Time for comfy Koshien.
Nomura (9-RF for Yamanashi Gakuin, just got walked and has a hit already) is the player to watch today. 2 HR in Spring Koshien this year and a HR last year as well. Has also hit two 430feet home runs earlier this year in the same game. Possible draftee for this year's draft.
Okayama Gakugeikan (Okayama) Batting Lineup 9-Yoshida-(RF) 7-Kinjoh -(LF) 6-Chinen (SS) 4-Osafune (2B) 3-Niwa(P) 5-Iwahata (3B) 15-Takeshita (1B) 8-Naka (CF) 2-Mizokami (C) Okayama Gakugeikan are from the western prefecture of Okayama. They have little historical koshien tradition, as their last visit (in 2015) was their first summer koshien visit.
Daniel Gomez
>everyone does this ace of diamond joke did Nishiura make it in this year?
Hiroshima Shogyo are a traditional public school powerhouse, winning Koshien 6 times (their last in 1988) but have not attended Koshien since 2004. Their most famous recent player is Hawks star Yuki Yanagita.
what the hell happened? i turned my head for a couple seconds
Jack Green
What did I miss bros, I was taking a big one.
John Murphy
i think pitcher took one off the dome? idk thats what im understanding from the twitter feed on the side from the chrome translate. maybe highlights later?
Adam Williams
it seems that the bat hit the pitcher face
here is an over-dramatic videogame representation of what probablly happened (until i get the webm)
aand an shiamo one (this band also made the song of nootbook ad that shows almost every time between innings) youtube.com/watch?v=zhCtzmDWsN0
Caleb Morgan
which ones have you heard this game?
Michael Richardson
Yesterday they had pretty fly for a white guy! Also, this song (Tenri Fanfare named after the school which first performed it) is the most famous song which bands usually play after a hit.
Joseph Harris
they tend to use the TV themes too but this year i only heared they use the Asahi one once
Mason Cox
Some teams also use this meme song sometimes. (It's an old 80s song which is also really famous in Hong Kong and Korea) youtube.com/watch?v=l-wcsyXWKyw
Most of them are pretty generic songs. It really depends on each band. But they do tend to play the same songs like We Will Rock You and Popeye the Sailorman.
Connor Myers
Last year i remember hearing the 4th movement of dvorak's 5tu symphony, so there's that if you wanna add it
Charles Lee
Someones that i had forgot the name but i found again
This game is pretty close for having you pitcher taken out early
David Thomas
Koshien is pretty cool
Brandon Campbell
what you liked the most?
Lincoln Powell
i havent watched any yet but i plan to tomorrow with some beer around this time after my mlb games are over with. I chilled in here last summer with you dudes and enjoyed vibes
Easton Hughes

Camden Sanchez

Fun fact: All open stadiums of NPB recive the National Championship as qualy or as the final tournament (Koshien is also the Hanshin Tigers home stadium, Meiji gets the tokyo finals, Hotto Motto get the Kobe finals, Yokohama recive Kangawa Finals and Rakuten Life and Marines stadium also get local finals)
Zachary Taylor
i forgot Mazda Zoom Zoom stadium in hiroshima
Carter Lewis

Jaxon Rivera
Very good games today. No blowouts and a walk-off homerun.
Colton Stewart
Man that was some at bat with a rollercoaster of emotions. The crowd reactions were great. So fucking close
