Pretty much this. Kane was a big motherfucker with a great look, great gimmick, knew how to work, no bad habits, was insanely over and it took him how long have a real top run where he had the belt? The dude wasn't a self mark and it kept him as the tippy top of the upper midcard for almost his entire career. If he had a bigger ego he would have probably been the top guy in the early 2000s when big names started leaving.
