That Lester's worst outing in his entire career as a Cubs (Yes, even worse than that one Pirates game). It's highly improbably that Q will replicate what Lester did. Granted during this 5 game win streak he's got going, he's been the same old Q, just been getting run support. Also, Caratini is one of the better pitch framers, so that should help out Q steal a few. (We still need electronic strike zones.)
And it's not like yesterday's game was a total bust, Underwood was lights out for his debut, the pen didn't give up a run, and we had some fun with the Davis/Schwarber battery. Apparently Maddon wanted to put Schwarber in as catcher earlier to get him some reps, but he already used up the bench to rest starters for today's game.
>A's lineup full of literal whoms some thing never change
>Underwood yea Im stoked he has found some success at the big-league level. hes been of our top pitching pitching prospects (lyl) for years now, with meh numbers at AAA (much like Alzolay)
speaking of which, anyone else stoked on Brailyn Marquez? I know he's just a 20-year old in Class A, but hes on a roll: 3-0 in his last three starts, with no runs allowed, 26 Ks, and only one hit against in 17 innings...opposing batters are 5-for-their-last-70, and he's allowed just one home run since April

>Brailyn Marquez? He's looking good, but it's only Single A, he's still got a long way to go and even if everything goes right, he could go like Alzolay. Which was a shame, his debut was great and then he just flamed out. But we can hope Alzolay gets it together.
Q has adapted. No sac advance to home off the lead off double this time A's.

>Contreras gets hurt >immediately trade for Maldonado >Willy recovers faster than expected >trade Maldonado away at the deadline >Contreras gets hurt AGAIN >claim Jonathan Lucroy
I'm pretty sure watching Caratini almost get his wrist snapped in two during that play at the plate last night just made Theo hit the panic button. Also, it's not like we have anything to lose, if Lucroy is an absolute bum, we got still got Talyor.
[W] Dominate performance by the Cubs where just about everything went right and they take the series and go 5-1 in this home stand. A's defense looked pretty sharp too, this could have been an even bigger blowout if they didn't keep their heads in the game.
Let's hope Baez is okay and we'll see what happens with Lucroy.
