It's a luxury position, plain and simple. CAMs only get value when paired with players who are able to make the correct runs all the time and finish. CAMs will generally see options that most players can't see, and thus their passing goes underutilized and they seem useless because their teammates are retarded; or in the event their teammate makes the right run, they don't finish. Tldr: CAMs are only good with elite or better attackers around them.

This. You have to be playing on an elite level of football to make good use of CAMs. If not it's like you're one man down. You're better off just getting a pacey CM.
