Word. I would have elaborated on my exclusion of Xhaka, but its quite obvious. He doesn't have the speed or positioning skills to be the midfield metronome for Arsenal. Today when i tuned into the Barca match I saw Xhaka completely miss two easy passes to slot through to one of the forwards during a counter attack within 10 minutes. He is not quick enough on the transition because he is built like a shithouse. He has a good pass and can punch forward vertical balls with accuracy and technique, but he is too SLOW. He does not have the IQ to quickly find a pass forward if we're transitioning forward and instead blows many potential counter attacks or fast breaks if we're playing against better sides and we have less of ball and are playing against a higher defensive line/press.
Would rather see Willock than Gwendozy because Willock has better decision making skills and physicality. Can tackle better than Gwendozy. Honestly I'd rather see Gwendo become the attacking midfielder, he has the vision and apssing to be a CAM and since he's naturally a CM/DM he'd actually track back in a system with a 4-3-3

Right now, no. I think we should transition into it as Ozil ages. Right now there aren't a huge amount of good box-to-box or deep playmakers around. We've gone back to play were central midfielders are more offensively or defensively inclined rather than balanced, while attacking midfielders are more balanced. I think Arsenal should move towards playing in that manner. Right now Arsenal don't really have the players for it though. Maybe they can risk it against shit teams or hope that Ozil just naturally transitions into a deeper role. Hopefully Willock makes it in a year or 2 because he seems that sort of player.

Sooner or later all you mutt apologists will have to come to terms with the fact that it's not our defenders who are bad but our system that favors attacking and constantly leaves our defense vulnerable, and that Mustafi is the best CB on the planet.
