Key thing is not age but how many years you've played at pro level. Fabregas was 16 when he first played for Arsenal, so he had his peak earlier and started declining earlier as well. He nearly has 800 pro matches in him.

Same goes with Ricky Rubio who started as a pro at age 14, he started declining at age 28, which seems early but actually is his 14th pro season.
