It would be an excellent roster 20 years ago, but smallball is king now. Horford's knee is likely going to be a problem as well- he missed a decent chunk of time last year. Embiid'll probably miss some as well.

They may be better than most of the east, but that's not saying a whole lot. I still wouldn't rule out a dark horse contender depending on how other teams' chemistry and trade deadline moves workout.

The spacing isn't perfect and of course they have injury issues and whatever other things. But it's not like everyone can only play in the paint.

Are they the best shooting team in the nba. Obviously not. But people acting like there will be ten guys in the paint are deluded, basically every player on the roster is a competent shooter outside of Simmons, and the roster is stacked with defensive beasts. You sound like the guys who tried to defend the Lakers last year. Shooting wins games. Defense is important, but scoring is the key. The sixers have too many slashers and not enough shooters, plain and simple. Having Simmons on the floor basically makes it 4 on 5 when they're on offense. Packing the paint will actually be extremely effective against them because half of their backcourt is totally incapable of scoring beyond 5 feet from the rim.

Brett brown is good enough of a coach to 1) continue to man manage the guys on the roster (his most important job) 2) adjust the gameplan to maximise how each guys skillset fits with the others. This won't be like if Lebron went to Philly instead of LA. Now that would have been an actual disaster. There aren't many flaws with this team and the rest is so good that they are almost irrelevant. Packing the paint won't work that well because leaving Horford, Richardson, Harris, even Embiid wide open is a good way to get blown out.

Remember Simmons only needs to be able to hit 33% of threes when they disrespect him on the perimeter by 10+ feet for that to be a losing move. He's not that far away from being able to do that especially now that he has a license to shoot.

Siakam is such an interesting player. You can tell he's both raw and skilled at the same time if that makes sense, with a surprisingly high basketball IQ for someone so new to the game.

Simmons seems more like Westbrook to me. I'm sure he'll develop a decent jumpshot in time(as both players seem at least competently skilled at everything on the court) but not sure if it will ever become a strength of his, just like Westbrook

I pretty much agree, however Simmons with a bit of shooting is like young LeBron. Westbrook is.... Westbrook. Great player but the size difference is key. Ppl forget if Lebron when he was first on the cavs made a three he would usually proceed to chuck five more and go like 1-6 pretty often. Simmons could do that, maybe not quite as well, but he chooses not to and thats why his jumpshot is such a big talking point. Thinking about it more it would be more effective to get adecent freethrow. He avoids driving and looking for fouls if he misses foul shots pretty often.
