How can Rugby overtake American football if there is no obvious "NFL of Rugby"?

Only Australia and some other shithole plays rugby
still more nations interested in rugby than yank football
t. Zhang Brown from Quebec
Rugby is more global that ice hockey kek
Well there is a professional Major League Rugby in America now.
But no it'll never be bigger than NFL
Based black men dabbing on the leaf
What exactly do you mean with an NFL of rugby? There are several pro leagues around
Rugby's more of an international sport anyway.
It's like the opposite of Football. In Football, clubs >>> national teams.
In rugby, international competitions >>> club competitions
Australia, NZ, England, Wales, Scotland, France, Japan, Ireland, South Africa, Italy and Argentina are the countries where rugby has a reasonably high profile. All pretty based countries really.
It's also the national sport of Madagascar.
They have a pre-match dance and everything.
How many countries play Canadian football?
You forgot Pacific islands
Hasnt rugby been profesional for like only 30 or so years? Im guessing club competition Will gain more relevance eventually right
Professional since 1995. The domestic game does seem to be growing somewhat.
Rugby League is a thing
You forgot Georgia, Namibia, Fiji,Samoa, Tonga, Kenya...and maybe Romania
Kenya only play sevens
Canada has a team in one of our leagues
That's gay rugby
Whats the point of having a team in Canada when none of the players actually live there and have to fly to england for half their games
Just gradually change the rules of American Fagegg one by one to match Rugby's and within a decade you'll have them playing a men's sport. Rebrand it as the NRL and watch USA become a top tier Rugby nation without the bitching and protests from Fagegg fans who have been eased into the new sport.
America would destroy everyone at rugby if this happened
Wrong, they only learn how to collide in America.
Americans would destroy at rugby. They have the best athletes on the planet.
collisions win games
that's because in american football you're actually allowed to hit the other player instead of gently caressing them to the ground
>What exactly do you mean with an NFL of rugby
An obvious number 1 league in the sport that everyone who plays the sport dreams about competing in.
based retard
This
The two top tiers of international rugby are pretty much exclusively the based nations of the world, anyone who says otherwise is deluding themselves
League is nonexistent in the US, why the fuck would anyone play League here when Handegg is better in every regard
7s is the more accurate answer, it's no coincidence the US is very good at it, it rewards speed and athleticism, and any idiot who's played track or football can learn to play it in 18 months' time
*finishes in the top 3 in one season*
Based on how bad they want an NFL team, they wish it was 0.
OPENLY professional - in Union at least. There were always stories of mysterious job openings and expense accounts for certain players back in the 'amateur' days, of course that was mainly down to snobbery, I'm genuinely surprised it lasted as long as it did, considering even cricket had that 'gentlemen vs players' shit beaten out of it long ago. Can only conclude it was to do with stubbornness to Not Being Rugby League.
And blow a simple stop because you're looking to make the highlights reel instead of actually doing your damned job.
Seriously, I've played both codes of rugby and gridiron, I don't hate any of them, but it's this attitude to defending in the latter that drives me up the wall.
