Boys from u17 and u18 can put 10+ goals if they really try. Football is a contact sport and as such men have way too big of an advantage over women.

It's not even the contact. Male game is just that much faster, even at my eldest's level which is - coincidentally - U15. Ball and movement speed is already above what I saw at the WWC, and the women don't seem able to hit the ball as far, not even a crossfield switch.

as for the contracts, they're not asking for the same contracts as the men get from their club teams. they're claiming the contracts they agreed to with the us soccer federation, which is a non-profit organization design to organize soccer in the US and represent the country at international competitions, were discriminatory and violated the equal pay act. so they're suing for what they feel they're rightfully owed because that's what US employment law entitles them to. they're not saying female athletes should earn as much as male athletes.

They need to work on their message then because I thought they were demanding equal pay (as the men's team).

No, they're saying as employees of the USSF, which both the men and women are, they were payed unfairly based on their gender. They're not saying their opponents are as difficult to beat as the men's opponents, which is where i'm guess your "do equal work" phrase comes in. They're saying that due to the fact that they have same responsibilities as the men (training, travel, media commitments, tournaments, etc) that they should have the same base salary as the men who work for the same employer, in this case the USSF. recently, because of the bonus payout system fifa has (which is independent of the USSF) the income gap has closed for some women players vs the some women players. but that's largely due to the women going consistently deeper in tournaments. but the women aren't arguing that their income, from all sources, should be the same. they're arguing that between 2010 and 2016 (or whatever the years are, i haven't read the entirety of the actual complaint documents), they are owed money because the contracts agreed to between the parties were discriminatory according to US labor law, which an organization like the USSF is provisionally subjected to.

theres a good deal of misunderstanding around the legal case and i believe it's for 2 reasons.
1. the uswnt insists on pursing a social agenda on the treatment and pay of women at large, the world over at the same time as they have a very specific, and by most legal expert accounts, a very strong case against their own employers. this conflates these two largely separate issues.
2. people enter the debate with preconceived ideas about who is right and who is wrong based on what the think of gender norms. for example, if you have a low opinion of women, you'd say their lawsuit against the USSF is uncalled for without bothering to learn anything about the facts of the case.
