If 4-2-3-1 will be the go to formation like today I think Barkley gets the starting spot at first with Mount being a sub. Frank's made it pretty clear that everyone has the opportunity to earn their spot regardless of age or name. I'd say Pulisic has to start because he's 100x better than Willian or Pedro at crossing the ball in and taking corners.

With any luck the wingers will be pulisic and CHO and we can fire one or both of Pedro and Willian in to the Sun.

They could both start theoretically with Pulisic on the wings and Mount in the center but I don't think Mount is ready to start atm. It will be Pulisic and Willian on the wings and a solid midfielder like Barkley in the center with Kante and Lil Jorge in a double pivot.

Is he gonna be starting Tammy Abraham up top then? Giroud doesn't seem suited to be a poacher and Abraham had good scoring numbers in the Championship, but I'm not sure how good he is by Premier League standards

No clue right now, Lampard has been giving everyone minutes, the striker position is the most up in the air for Chelsea. Tammy feels like the best choice considering and he wore the number 9 today which felt like a big nod.

Is he any good? I haven't really watched for a couple of years. What ever happened to Kante? He used to be really good.

Kanté is still one of the best midfielders in the world. Kovacic is always neat and tidy on the ball but doesn't provide much end product. Little involvement in goals and is an absolutely horrible shot.

yeah, like the hue said he doesn't do a lot in attack, but then again he rarely is involved in attacking moves, he usually sits back. he is a solid presence in the midfield though, good at moving the ball forward and passing and can make tackles. I think it's a make or break season for him since he's had the le prospect man tag for awhile, but he is good.

Thanks. Last question. What about Ross Barkley? I read a few comments some months ago that he wasn't doing so well at Chelsea. I really liked him at Everton a few years back. Seems like Chelsea have a lot of good midfielders. Too many actually.

Nobody really covered themselves in too much glory last season, I reckon he'll be a lot better playing further up the pitch in a 4-2-3-1. The midfielders didn't have a lot of options playing in a 4-3-3 last season, it was basically pass it to Hazard and hope he creates a goal.

Technically, Pulisic can play the central 10 role but he's much better on the wings where he can distribute crosses.
