And we're back. The restday was much needed, after most of /our guys/ have been BTFO by the wind. Pinot is back to being >pinot, the Fugl-o-meter is down to zero. Today will most likely be a bunch sprint, so a big opportunity for a 5th Jumbo-Visma victory.

His punishment must be more severe. Torture not of his body, but of his soul. When he has truly understood the depths of his failure, FDJ will be destroyed and when it's done and France is in tears, then he has permission to win.

Monday's finish was a slight upclimb, today is a slight descent/flat.

Viviani won't win nonetheless, because he won't win another GT stage in 2019

I have a feeling that Egan Bernal will win it all lads

Roglič signed another 3 year deal with Jumbo, thus basically ending his chances of ever going for the tour unless big Tom decides to go somewhere else, because I seriously doubt a dutch team would appoint a non Dutchman a captain when they have riders such as Kruijswijk and Dumoulin available.
I've just been looking at procyclingstas where it sasy, that big tom has contract with sunweb unitl 21'. dear danish user, any chance of shearing full roadbook ?
>what's going to be the surprise of today? Helicopter accidently crashes into sprinters and Peloton at the finish, killing riders and spectators. TDF cancelled and national week of mourning declared in France. The pilot/cameraman survive. Sagan survives too, and just wins the sprint against a shard of rotor blade.
Oliver Howard
>TDF cancelled That will never happen. They are really autistic about that.
Yesterday I went for a decent ride, done my usual route reversed, had some steep parts up to 18%, if Strava is reliable.
Registered on Strava to get myself some gradients and elevation gain data. And checked some segment times, and boy am I an under average rider, maybe even bad for a beginner. Wtf is up with the people that can easily ride at over 400 Watt for a few km?
Compare yourself to you. Get better. Ignore everyone else. Unless you're hoping to win races, it doesn't matter. Just keep improving yourself.
Henry Walker
Don't fall for the competitive cycling meme, there's people using enhancing substance on their fucking Sunday morning group rides. Just ride at your pace and enjoy your bike.
Nolan Cooper
just go on a trip to columbia where you can buy EPO in any cycle store bernd. Maybe you would stop bitching then

Does based Alaphilippe have a chance lads or will Team Evilos confirm their win soon?
Lived there for 4 years when i was a poor student at paul sabatier university Friendly people, perfect climate, hot girls, good nighlife, EVERYTHING is cheap compared to Paris or Brussels, the scenery around the city is beautiful, i loved it

Yes, that being said René is just a name whereas "Aimé" comes from the verb "aimer" and means "loved", so it's a grammatical rule to put the extra -e to get right with the feminine gender there
Cameron Campbell
Good afternoon lads, how was your morning ride? I climbed a hill. It was a very inconsistent bitch of a hill, with steep sections and flat sections thrown in at random, I hate that shit. The section in pic related was especially crap, I am 60kg and I had to pedal 290 watts to basically keep going.
Heretics calling themselves "Pure" or "Good", believed in dual principles governing the world. The good principle or God and the bad essence or Evil. Gos being only good doesn't know about evil and Evil wanted to imitate God succeeded in tempting some souls.
They were vegetarians, usually manual workers, even the nobles. They believed the body was impure and recjected sexuality. The Catholic church deemed them dangerous for this (they didn't make enough babies).
In 1208, the pope Innocent III declared a crusade against them, the Albigeois or Cathares. A few cities were sieged (including Toulouse, which was an independent county at the time) and the Inquisition went there trying to bring them back to the catholic faith.

Julian Anderson
I think that's the limiting factor in women's cycling. Otherwise they'd have longer stages. Maybe they could use a "she-wee" type device
Jack Turner
First did 2 hours of just easy spinning and then hill repeats to finish the ride. Dodging these motherfuckers half the ride.
There are a ton of mosquitoes and other flying things. They aren't really that annoying while riding though because you're moving about. Though if it's hot and you're sweating your arms and legs will be covered in both dead and living bugs after a ride. Can't ride without glasses at all because getting bugs in your eyes isn't fun. Also they litter your downtube.
>quickstep team director said that Alaphilippe can't wun TdF because he is not prepared for this kind of racing, and their goal is now only to keep yellow as long as possible becuse he also used all of his "energy". Kruijswijk is not capable of holding on Berlelnal and Thomass, frenchies Pinit and Bardet already fucked up what was possible to fuck up. Why is tour still interestung to watch from today on?

>The idea of two gods or principles, one good and the other evil, was central to Cathar beliefs. This was antithetical to the monotheistic Catholic Church, whose fundamental principle was that there was only one God, who created all things visible and invisible. Cathars believed that the good God was the God of the New Testament and the creator of the spiritual realm. They believed the evil God was the God of the Old Testament, creator of the physical world whom many Cathars, and particularly their persecutors, identified as Satan. Cathars thought human spirits were the genderless spirits of angels trapped in the material realm of the evil god, destined to be reincarnated until they achieved salvation through the consolamentum, when they could return to the benign God.
>Maybe they could use a "she-wee" type device That's still hot. I'd watch it just for these moments.

It's always like that with French athletes, "not this year". At the Olympics it's "I'm preparing for the next olympics", and when the time comes it's "Well I'm at the end of my career now, I'm here to enjoy the fun".
Easton White
What's the steepest street they've driven so far? 14%?

That varies a lot from area to area, there isn't just one type of rural village Some are basically on life support from tourism and would be ghost towns without help, and some just carry on off the radars

What's the deal with shopping? Is there a big supermarket somewhere that services a number of these little towns or what?
Matthew Russell
>>holding the yellow jersey currently >leading midrace is an achievement Do you even grasp the concept of competition ?
Jack Cruz
you don't actually watch or follow cycling, stop flaunting your ignorance and embarassing yourself lol
Jace Gonzalez
There are often smaller versions of our regular supermarkets in these places, + the independant shops left if it's not a dead town
They're a bit more expensive than large ones so I reckon some people drive to the nearest proper city supermarket for groceries
Lucas Brooks
I used to own a (small) Château in that kind of rural villages, though more to the Northeast of France. The villages are completely rural and there's one shop that's also a hotel, restaurant, bard and cigarette store, but there are giant supermarkets close by that service a couple of towns yeah. Even had a fucking McDonald's only 5 kilometers further.

I inherited it together with my brother and sister from my dad. It cost over 10k to maintain a year (extra taxes on second property thanks to Macron) and also heating it was a bitch. For the couple of weeks a year that I could spend there it wasn't worth it at all, but I do miss it.
Nah, no wind today sadly. 99% chance of mass sprint.
Josiah Clark
Looks very controllable indeed. Well lets hope for a bowlingball/big baby victory then.

Gavin King
Based retard Viviani sprinting all out for a intermediate sprint.
Adrian Nguyen
>Viviani trying his hardest in intermediate sprints
I think it was more a house near a castle or a house built on a former castle. In my village there is a kind of house like this that we call "the château" it has a big medieval tower though and I guess it was built on the place of a former little castle.
I remember a day before le tour started I posted that this was going to be /ouryear/. I got like 5 (you)'s of people calling me retarded yet now that we are here and won 3/10 stages so far, how does it make you feel Yea Forums?
If not for Rohan Dennis I would probably believe you. Dunno now, he could still win I guess.

Surprisingly, corn isn't very integrated in French cuisine
I can't think of a single proper French dish that uses corn, despite it being grown in several regions

Wout has been working too hard, guys like Dennis and Küng have not and are basically targetting this TT 100%, its their main goal in this tour. This is not the case for Wout, although I would like to be surprised.
Jonathan Brooks

>So many french riders Is the tdf a curse in disguise ? The abundance of french sponsors and team, competing in the world biggest race on french roads lined with french fans creates a ton of those useless "baroudeur" types. Wold you believe me if I told you that Yoan Offredo (n°2 on this list) is a roadside fans favourite in france ? That the media loves him because he is a "brave" baroudeur and makes good banter ? French cycling is retarded, no wonder we haven't won our national race in more than three decades.
Jeremiah Cox
Buy me some Jumbo voll melk. And their home brand chocolate bars are based too.

I bought glutten free pasta made out of corn instead of normal pasta by mistake, it doesn't taste like pasta at all and barrely has a taste

The ones made out of coral lentils are ok, if you already like this kind of lentils But it's twice the price and half as big than whole grain regular pastas so don't buy it
I had a friend who used to save images all day so that he could organise big archives of images on his computer. It was pure autism but it clearly gave him a lot of satisfaction. Are you like him?
Kayden Murphy
Woah... France is really amazing. Much better than my ugly country. Oh god how I wish I was french.
I'm like that but with pirated media I will probably never watch/read/play. God help me

Corn is based. I got loads of tin cans of sweet corn, sometimes I make corn on the cob, delicious, you can eat it raw or put it in a stew
Wyatt Sanders
For me, it's drijftenue.

I can't decide between cringe and based.
Juan Wright
Not really, it just started because there were lots of landscapes/architectures threads on /int/ when I joined They were the only ones I posted in so I saved loads of pics over time, and named them properly to post them fast
While I was looking for pics I learned a fuckton of things related to our country, especially geography-wise, so it wasn't all wasted I've also visited many of the places I post so it's kinda legit

I think these kind of laws apply to place that gather attention, like house facades in historical centers and stuff Relatively remote private properties must be yours to do as you please
Daniel Gonzalez
Could've been done a lot better and with more respect to the Château's architecture. Typical nouveau riche style pool.
Jack Rodriguez
I wonder what's the real effect of the TdF worldwide broadcasting on tourism. I know many foreign people come here to see the race and cheer for their racers, but how many foreign people actually come to visit the country because they saw it on TV and foud it nice ? I studied tourism at university and we never talked about it.
Daniel Gomez
Plenty of kms left to draw them in.
Austin Williams
It seems far enough from the house, we see the whole lot from the sky but when in front of the house you're free from the view of the pool

Gavin Bailey
it depends if the castle is classed as historical monuments or not I guess.
If there is anything classed as historical monument in your village/city you can't build whatever you want in a certain perimeter around. Same goes for castle, if they are classed and receive money from the state to preserve it, then they have to open it to visits and can't do whatever they want too.
There is a saoudian or qatari businessman/prince who bought and old castle in the south of France and built a heliport on it and an elevator inside... They do that often.
Countries with a cycling culture are being bombarded with TdF for three weeks. On radio internet end tv. It's a free commercial

There are countries where cycling is a huge sport. I think that cycling in Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands is bigger than in France itself. Those countries get bombarded with France right now. That has an effect on tourism.
Tyler Jackson
noooooo
Maybe that was his attack plan all along. Falling back, attacking and coming back to the Peleton, meaning he didn't lose any time, win!
Robert Mitchell
Signed with some french squad. F
Henry Roberts
that was weeks before tour start jfl. hes not sprinting today because the team gave cees better odds for a win, also the thing about being allowed to go for breakaways probably.

His game was always going for stage wins. This is a blessing in disguise assuming he's not too badly banged up.
Alexander White
Damn, such a shame
Luke Bennett
China does not really have a cycling culture. They relied on bikes more out of necessity because communism was so successful in making its people so rich that everyone could afford a car. Look at china now, bikes are gone because people can afford cars now. Was there ever a successful chink participating in the tour?
yeah but I'm guessing that's what the other user meant when he said we have the biggest cycling culture in the world
both
Austin Ortiz
People with tattoos ought to be shot

Chinese are the worst cyclists in the world. I live in a uni town with quite a few Chinese import students, and oh my fuck they are absolutely oblivious.
They have zero awareness of what happens around them and it's 100% impossible to read their intentions. If I could I'd banish them to only using public transport, as they're useless in a car too.
Carter Rodriguez
In the UK people either hate cyclists or are cycling zealots. Like so much here there is no middle ground.

I am a Chinese, and more often than not, I have to be extra careful here with the car drivers.
They rush in to the junctions with no foresight, had to break / swirl around quite often. Imagine riding the pedestrian way with your bike, you'd be crushed. Often something is always blocking the sight, whether it is some hedge/ parked car.

Aiden Wright
Too much mountain for based Mohoric imo.
Hudson Russell
>Looking to drop either Ewan, Viviani, Matthews or Groenewegen from my team for a GC guy. Matthews and Sagan are the best climbers. I would drop either Ewan or Viviani
Jackson Rogers
Because nobody else has an overall time better than his.
Bonifazione headbutted someone's phone and sent it flying in the sprint lmao.
Lincoln Campbell
Dont be so full of yourself, Pierre. I sense a lot of nationalist tendencies in your post. You dont want to be a nazi, do you, Pierre?
Anyway, France has amazing landscapes, that's true but honestly, every country i've been to had beautiful sceneries, i'd say our whole planet is elite landscape wise. Except for the dutch lowlands. There is no landscape at all. Just a flat line. But that in itself is so uniquely boring and shit that it is kind of elite again.
Tyler Gutierrez
You know it's true.

I prefer "Evilos", easier to say. Seriously what the fuck is up with their evil uniforms.
Jayden Green
Ciccone 12 mins down.

Do sprinters get different meals than let's say the climbers/GC riders?
Do the latter watch how the sprinters eat delicious steaks or other meat while eating salad and rice?
Kevin Brown
Bragging's ok if you aren't doing it by trash talking other places in comparison imo In the end if someone leaves this thread having corrected a couple stereotypes he had it was useful
Dont be mad, my friend. I visit your fine country every year and i behave very well and even speak a couple of words of dutch but landscape wise you are actually the worst place on earth. It's all flat and you can only see as far as the next hedge. But like i said, it is unique in its own way. I guess the weed helps to enjoy it more. Anyways, dont be mad fren, i am a refugee from /pol/ and i have troubles letting go of all the racism and hatred. I bantz for lulz

lol Based Jumbo

You're right, sometimes I wonder what are the "ugliest" countries in the world, or the ones with the less diversity. I mean, Brazil for example, what do they have besides Amazonia forest ? (I'm half ironic on this, their country is so big that they must have something else but still...)
Bentley Howard
Was there a Denmark done? Inb4 Greenland and Faeroe Islands.
Jordan Sullivan
where women blow and men chunder
Noah Powell
>landscape wise you are actually the worst place on earth
Hmm idk, the terrain is boring and you can't really escape people but it's very civilized and neat, there must be places on earth with equally boring terrain but also 3rd world
Like Bengladesh, shit's flat and wet too but it's also poor, even more overcrowded, and very hot
Camden White
rossetto literally calling de gendt a "piece of shit" and that he was "breaking his balls" on french tv kek
Joseph Morales
I think having trillions of square kilometers of rainforest is pretty l33t... Seriously, every place on earth has some nice views and landscapes, arguing which is the best is pretty stupid. Our Planet kicks ass. If only we could get ride of... You know who...
Eli Wright
I need the Instagram account of these podium slags.
Oh, if we're including civilization into it then yes of course, the netherlands move up a lot on my list. I like the dutch architecture, the small brick houses and shit. Dont kbow bout bangladesh though. It is basically a huge river delta, there must be some good views there. But again if we include civilization it would be bottom tier. I mean just look at their flag. It's literally kermit's butthole
I noticed after posting you were only talking about landscape so my bad, but after all I think the two can be linked
A poor country will have more issues with visible pollution like illegal garbage dumps, and will have shittier infrastructure (which includes seemingly natural stuff like canals) and landscaping so the overall views will be affected
Tyler Peterson
Greenlandic mountains are 6 million times more beautiful than Danish """"mountains""""
Hudson Bennett
Sneaky motherfuckers, you need to buy Red Bull because Verstappen. I go buy some Red Bull then.
Henry Allen
It kinda sucks that the Jumbo is so far away here.
AH/Lidl are so close yet Jumbo is like 15 mins bike ride.
Luke Sanders
Please don't bring up that little cunt, this is a comfy thread.
11 different winners in 11 stages until now. It happens for first time since 1996.
Jason Rodriguez
Cycling is great again.
James Collins
1996 didn't have its first repeat winner until stage 16 (Bjarne Riis, Hautacam).
Can we do it?
Kayden Russell
Someone has seen the rant of that rider against De Gendt ? that was epic.
Sebastian Clark

I miss the autistic Slovak Sagan-hater who used to go absolutely ballistic whenever Sagan was mentioned in any way.
Christopher Stewart
