BREAKING: Richie Porte has survived stage 9. Now we all wait how he manages to fuck up this year. The chances of this are 100%, since >Tejay has already been BTFO we know all is normal in the universe. Daryl Impey won the breakaway stage yesterday, after a sprint a deux with Tiesj Benoot. So this is the power of white South Africans. Today is a deceptively tough day, so it could go to a breakaway again. Or, again, if the breakaway group is not strong it will be a sprint, which is probably what will happen.
Can we have a comfier thread today, boys? Stage 9 was awful to read through.
Also, how about posting some webms of the race? Yesterday there were like
Michael Garcia
>During the 1955 Tour de France, in the thirteenth stage to Albi, De Groot was initially dropped by the peloton, and had problems with the heat. When he passed a field with cabbage, he took two leaves and put them in his neck and on his head, to protect him from the sun. He regained his strength, and was able to get back to the peloton. The peloton was also suffering from the heat, and De Groot decided to go for his chance, and escaped from the peloton. Nobody answered his attack, so he went solo. After some time, he was told his advantage was "treize minutes" (thirteen minutes), but De Groot's knowledge of the French language was not perfect, and he thought his advantage was three minutes, and he increased his speed. In the end he won the stage by more than twenty minutes
Xavier Price
>2.75 Dylan Groenewegen >3.5 Caleb Ewan Who the fuck would bet anything on those two fat manlets at those odds on a stage like this?
today will have a small breakaway that will be caught before the sprint finish Jakb will do literally nothing this stage

>Porte celebrated making it through the 170km in the Massif Central of France on social media, writing: 'stage 9 done' a posting a gif of Jack Black making a proud salute. Getting cocky, cant wait for this years divine punishment
lol imagine being mad because our lad from down the local gaff Geraint won this without even trying
I thought you were hating on me bc of my trip, not bc of my flag
hahaha
Parker Reed
Yeah, I have no problem with you guys. It's just one guy deliberate trying to provoke people with "u jelly" type comments. Just ignore him, not all the brits, and we'll have a comfy thread
Ryan Evans
Whos this guy on Eurosport?
Connor Edwards
Jacob Stalin and Matti Breschel
Jaxon Morris
No I'm not deliberately trying to provoke people, I just wanted to state that I support Ineos, and then everybody gets triggered, why is that?
No wonder suburban kids turn to drugs growing up in hellholes like that.
Levi Thompson
Yeah but the boomers love the burbs so fuck those kids.
John Mitchell
Lmao, original cockroach was used for the Brits.
t.Boomer
Henry Cruz
Because you need the draft of the guy in front of you to stay out of the wind and keep the pace. The road is not big enough for everybody to stay sheltered, and everyone getting caught by the wind gets dropped.
Yeah but the boomers are on antidepressants chased down with alcohol.
James Reed
See, this is the problem. The BOOOOposting is just a funny meme, mostly made to laugh at seething frenchies who actually BOOOO the Sky/INEOS riders. Yet you keep responding to them with cringeworthy LOL U BUTTMAD U JELLY STAY MAD HAHA as if the players aren't BOOOOing as part of the meme.
>no grass stages like Milton Keynes Grand Slam tournament
Logan Clark
Yeah, some butthurt Dane making multiple posts about how seething he is about Ineos is obviously just memeing!
Lmao, cope.
Caleb Martin
Even Bornholm is too small essentially. You'd have to use pretty much all their major roads to piece together a stage of reasonable length.
Juan Stewart
Did the boche use that in ww1 to describe the brits?
Andrew Murphy
Anyone of you have ordered something and still waiting?
Those wageslaves from the parcel services are doing a horrific job...every time. Sometimes they do not find my address and straight send back the package. I'd wish I could send my order each time to a parcel station.
Oliver Nguyen
Circuit and problem solved
Luke Rogers
I don't mind you responding to those, but please just stop being so insufferable. G is a nice lad and I'm glad he won one, but you're starting to make me regret it with your baiting.
At least let us keep our BOOOOOO-posting.
Austin Cox
nice
Caleb Rodriguez
Still waiting on my Quintana special
Thomas Brown
I guess. Kinda lame though. I did this and it's still just 150 km.
>G is a nice lad and I'm glad he won one I really like G, and this is the first time I have seen a nice thing said about him on /TdF/ ty for warming my heart.
Jonathan Cooper

Camden Nguyen
any of you lads tried this zwift thing that the tour is sponsored by on english tv? is it worth it or any good, racing cazzies online seems fun
Noah Sanchez
Do you think most people who live in these beautiful rural towns are happy?
Juan Miller
Damn, she's beautiful.
Luke Martinez
The road's at 1100m+ altitude It's flat but they're in the mountains technically, not high enough to have any incidence on the ride but thought I'd say it
Logan Baker
A few friends of mine are planning on flying off and biking round Svalbard. Should be pretty kino.
Ian Williams
>neet, complaining about wageslaves from the parcel services
Caleb Clark
To clarify, by "did this" I just mean I drew the route in Strava haha.
Mason Howard
For a stage that's likely to end in a bunch sprint, there's quite a lot of elevation meters. Pure sprinter fatsos might die today yeah.
Jeremiah Lewis
People have problems everywhere but the locals usually seemed fulfilled whenever I visit the prettiest towns, they are glad they lived there. The area they're going through is very rural but not decaying, it's a good place to live
It can be grimmer though, we have beautiful towns everywhere but some regions are hit harder by poverty and unemployment than others and the youth will want out
We were just given a 5 minute lecture on them and the danger of cheap copies. Comfy.
Carson Sullivan
That makes sense, thanks.
Angel Cook
LOL, you are a character Bernd.
Elijah Mitchell
I always have my laguiole in the pocket, some years ago I took a plane and I totally forgot it was forbidden, but the guys at the control were super nice and let me keep it. It's good to be a bouseux sometimes.
Brandon Jackson
WTF that was the castle from AoE2
Tyler Cruz
Yeah they got lots of issues about counterfeits, I wouldn't want a chink knife handle to snap in my hand and suddenly grab the blade. Apparently they've had problems protecting the brand because it's already the village name
I suppose the best place to buy one is directly at Laguiole town, then if you take care of it you'll keep it a lifetime
No problem These places are so stereotypically quaint I guess it's hard to imagine any life other than peaceful and magical there, but humans will be humans anywhere
Joseph Fisher
I am paying after all. Damn it, I have to contact that seller on ebay now.
I want my Bluetooth in ears now....tired of the cables
I've got Laguioles are home but I carry Opinels outsides, I'm less afraid to fuck it up than a Laguiole if I mess with wood outside and if I lose it any way I can get another equally reliable one for 15 euros quickly
What do you think of disc brakes, /cyc/? I see some cyclists are running them but some are not.
On the plus side, greater braking power - this might well be quicker on descents. On the down side, they're marginally heavier, also they will make wheel swaps slower (if you get a puncture etc.).
So I guess for me maybe I'd run them on a stage with lots of descending but then go for rims otherwise. Although I don't know if any teams are swapping between stages? Maybe they're either using discs all the time or not using them at all?
This is in danger of becoming one of those 'empty your pockets' autism threads where Americans would post their guns that they carry in their cargo shorts.
Noah Fisher
Can't empty my pockets I'm naked
Asher Bailey
Its the future, no way around it. The newest generationas of bikes that are designed around it are pretty cool.
Josiah Martin
Idk but know that I know that feel, not being born there either and all
>Its the future, no way around it. Why do you think that? Maybe it's just a temporary meme, like lots of things that have temporarily appeared in pro cycling and then been banned or fallen out of favour. Like different shape handlebars, different wheels, different pedals, etc.
>You could even argue that it makes them faster. Literally how? First you've got to find a wheel with the right size rotor, then you've got to get that rotor into the calliper.
Yes I mean a wheel swap on the Tour de France where they take out the punctured wheel and put in a new one. Surely getting a brake disc into a tiny calliper is more fiddly than just shoving in a wheel that uses rim brakes. I've never done it but I'd imagine it's more fiddly, maybe I'm wrong though.
Thing is, its a little hard for young people. First of all there aren't many different jobs in the region, its like you only have a reduced choice of careers. Then it gets a little boring, sure you have green spaces, you can do sports & shit but many miss the cultural stuff / events / nightlife / bars / social stuff...That you'd have in big cities.
Many move out when highschool is over, i remember meeting many many of them during my university years in paris.

Laguioles are a meme though and so is damascus steel ( ® ! lol).
I moved back to my village when i was 25. I missed it too much 2bh

Damascus steel is a meme, a fine ass Laguiole from a shop isn't. They're not worth paying 300 euros if you aren't rich but they aesthetic and practical portable food knives
Lincoln Jackson
Well, i'm not sure how it is in germany but neets are mostly gathered in cities in france. Most of rural people are pretty social.
Nolan Diaz
Better braking in all weather, can be designed without a braketrack in mind, doesnt wear out the rims. Just look at cyclocross, barely anyone uses canti brakes now.
If you have a fitting wheel ready it's not fiddly at all, imo it's easier than getting the tire past the rim brakes. You don't have to wiggle it around at all.
How do they move from the rural regions to the city, when they were NEETs to begin with? In cities, close to industrial sites, they are forced to take jobs by the gubermint.
James Turner

Isolation isn't good Pierre especially when you're young. Save that shit for when you're a pensioner. For now, get involved in life, get stuck in, get the most out of life.
Nathan Cox
Is it a former river?
Lincoln Campbell
I'll do a summary of the problem for you : I'm from a little village close to a city (Clermont-Fd). It's nice to grow up in the countryside and all but when you don't have a car yet you can't do anything but playing outside. All the stores and shops are many km away. So when you go to highschool you get used to a town's life and when you are a student, most of people get a flat in the city. There was a big rural exodus in the 60's/70's and now people who used to live in the cities want to live in a quiet place while they still work in the cities. It makes dormitory villages where there is no activity during the day because people work outside in the cities and they only come home on the evenings to sleep. I live myself in the city but I'll try to go back to my countryside as soon as I get enough money to buy/build a house.
Asher Richardson
Incredible, and it is not overrun by zoomers and muslims.
You are short on breath, take the inhaler, Froome.
Jose Jackson
Heavier maybe, but not really a problem when we have the 6.8 kg limit. I dont really think they are much less aero these days, as we see aero bikes designed only with disc brakes. They might have been less aero on the first gen disc bikes, where the discs were more or less added as an afterthought
Noah Howard
What an interesting landscape, gonna use that for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign reference.
The photos are professional enough to hide and gloss over all the defaults but still, what they showed from the helicopter was very close to the pics
Aveyron has amazing towns. Conques, Estaing, Entraygues, Najac, Cantobre, la Couvertoirade, Bozouls, Clairvaux d'Aveyron, la Bastide-Pradines, Saint-Véran... They're all out of this world in their own way
Sure but pratical portable knives abound. The fact that Laguiole brands sell you a supposed rural tradition as a luxury item, when the actual rural, traditional thing to do would be to get the cheapest good knife you can, it annoys me. Opinels are better.
Angel Morales
Who say's I'm not 43 though
Andrew Stewart
Well, like i said its not like there's many neets in rural town to begin with, that's just how rural culture in france is. People just aren't really neets.
And the very few that are usually just move up to big cities for studying ( can't study IT in fucking ceuse ) then they drop out and IDLE for a while but can live with state help such as RSA / APL...
Being a feelancer is amazing. My ex is one and she travels across / france / europe / whatever and just do some missions. Meanwhile i'm stuck here taking the metro erryday.

this kind of irony is apparent in many things. It's like people who are obsessed with svelte classic italian race bikes. But the people who actually rode and made those bikes originally wanted the lightest fastest thing possible, and would never dream of riding them now.
They're definitely the future. Braking on (carbon) rims feels like ass compared to hydraulic discs. They're slightly less aero when added as an afterthought but I'm sure the manufacturers can make them as fast or even faster when optimising forks and wheels for them.
Getting the rotor between the pads isn't an issue. And since lawyer tabs are required in forks a good through axle is faster than fiddling with a QR. Without lawyer tabs rims would be slightly faster because then it would be nothing more than removing wheel, slamming new one in and then closing the QR.
Hunter Cook
I thought only Americans say "vet".

During the 1995 Tour de France, Pantani had a level of 56% and after his accident in Milano–Torino it was 60%. Claudio Chiappucci had a hematocrit level of 35% in January 1994 to 60% in June, 1994 after he came fifth in the 1994 Giro d'Italia.

>Zannette died suddenly in January 2003 at Pordenone hospital after collapsing at his dentist's office in his hometown Sacile.[3] Investigations were started to reveal if his death was doping-related, since Zanette had been mentioned on a list of riders who had allegedly been in possession of banned drugs during the 2001 Giro d'Italia[4] where he won the 10th stage. The cause of death was later revealed as heart failure due to a probable heart disease aggravated by a neglected flu.

How do you make light sized webm videos (with such a good quality) ? I tried to convert a mp4 video I took on the stage of yesterday to webm but it's already 20mo and it makes it even heavier
-b:v is the bitrate: moar = better quality (between 1200K and 3000K is okay) -crf influences the quality too: lower is better (between 10 ~ 16 is okay for short webms)

It`s currently 10C outside. Will get down to 6C around 4am. I`m located 50 kms north of Sydney.
The actual Millau Viaduct is a great example of Anglo-French co-operation; Norman Foster, British architect, worked on it, in cooperation with French structural engineer Michel Virlogeux.
Just another example of Anglo-French prowess alongside Concorde and the Channel Tunnel. When our fantastic countries work together, we can achieve greatness.
Shame there's no bike path in the Chunnel. Make a great stage through it from England.

And another proof that we don't need EU to achieve cooperation.

Oh. Then you're right. Those guys weren't french, even thought Flanders was historically part of the french kingdom, until they started speaking french. Which is my point, france is more than a state.
I fucking love mine. Got it about half off fron a cycling store that was closing. It's great for hiking, too.

Even colder in the mountains, there`s snow down south. And when the cold southerly changes come through from down south it can get quite chilly here at nights. I`ve had frost on my windshield some mornings here.
They're becoming a lot more common. My hometown is replacing lots of intersections with roundabouts.
Xavier Parker
There is no .exe in the folder as I was searching for it. I made it with VLC but Yea Forums says the video is longer than 120 seconds while it only lasts like 5 seconds. I'll try WebMConverter and if it doesn't work I give up.

I'm not a zoomer, I'm 28. And yeah actually Britain's economy in the 1970s was doing fucking shit before we entered the European market, that's why we joined up.
Why don't you want Europe to be a superpower? It will make us all more powerful. Or do you want America and China to push us all around? Because I fucking don't.
And that's one of the things I think is stupid about Brexit. It means that Britain will have to suck up to America, who will push us around, because their population is five times the size of ours. But within the EU, Britain and France (which are each roughly equal in the sizes of our populations and economies) are second only to Germany. Britain + France together can outweigh Germany, if needed. So surely it makes sense for us to team up?
It isn't a de facto state. It is a trade union. The reason there is a parliament is so that trading standards can be passed. If we don't have common standards, we can't sell stuff to each other. Things made in Britain might not conform to French standards, for instance, without common standards.
>It isn't a de facto state. It is a trade union. The reason there is a parliament is so that trading standards can be passed. If we don't have common standards, we can't sell stuff to each other. How fucking naive are you? The EU regulates a fuck ton more than just common standards for good and trade. And the politicians in Brussels are pushing for more and more integration constantly.

I think the EU is probably the best project to maintain democracy and economic stability potentially ever. Europe was constantly warring within itself and the trade unions that preceded it and the EU itself have made that history look ridiculous from our current perspective. It's been immensely successful at that fundamental job of maintaining peace between all your countries.

>And the politicians in Brussels are pushing for more and more integration constantly. Then we should have a more democratic EU which is more responsive to the wishes and concerns of European people, I am completely in favour of that. I think European politics does need overhauling. I think it's absurd that most people don't even know who the European People's Party or the Party of European Socialists are, for example. Really the politicians have a responsibility to publicise themselves and earn a mandate.
But still, I don't think we should abolish the EU altogether. The single market benefits all of us.

Regarding disc brakes that were discussed earlier.
Disc brakes makes having multiple wheelsets also much easier. With rim brakes changing wheelsets means adjusting and possibly changing brake pads every time you change wheels. With discs you just change the wheels and go on your way.

I'm conflicted guys. Finally something interesting happens but all the good guys are losing.
I do understand some concerns of Brexiteers and I do think EU politics needs to be more responsive to concerns of Europeans (look at euroscepticism growing across the continent - AfD in Germany, Marine Le Pen in France, The League in Italy, etc.).
But yeah, ultimately, leaving the EU probably isn't the thing to do... trying to reform it, teaming up with likeminded Europeans, who clearly exist, is probably a smarter strategy.
Well I don't know life before because I was born in '91. But I've heard that the British economy in the 1970s was doing absolutely shit (three day week, etc.) before we joined the European common market.
>Do you really think you will benefit from belonging to a "superpower" ? lmao. Yes, we will. Do you think American and Chinese citizens haven't benefitted from their size and power? Because they fucking have. Americans have some of the highest wages in the entire world, and millions of Chinese people have got jobs and become richer thanks to China's growing economy and power.

China has had a massively growing middle class (which is why China has been an important market for iPhones in recent years), and poverty has been massively reduced in the last few decades. Maybe you need to accept that not everybody supports a French rider winning the Tour? Not everyone supports whichever meme rider you've chosen that you want to win the Tour? Of course I perfectly understand why French people would want a French rider to win the Tour, and the same with Dutch people wanting a Dutch rider to win the Tour, etc., which is why it's so surprising in a way that people can't handle the fact that a British person would support British riders in the Tour, and seem to get supremely butthurt by it.

Personally, I couldn't care less if a Dutchman wins the tour, but I guess that's not the point.
I think the point is more that most people are still unaccustomed to Brits being into cycling at all, much less winning. It's weird, the UK doesn't feel like a cycling country to anyone. Combine that with IneoSky living on the edge and abusing that worst and most legal of all dopings: very deep pockets. It's hard for us classic cycling countries to not feel like what your guys are doing is somehow soulless, despite the fact that we know better.
It probably also doesn't help that Lance was English speaking and was the most important figure in one of the lowest points of the sport, and now more English speakers (Kenyan? wherever Froome identifies as being from) are almost unnaturally successful. It's hard to trust perpetual winners, especially in this sport. And I even think he's kind of a likable guy. It's even more alienating that there's just another top talent to take his place.
And lastly, I don't think I've ever seen or heard an English speaker root for a non-English speaker, Eurosport is the worst at this. The balance between nationalism and love for the sport doesn't seem to be quite right.
Also, fyi, my favourite Dutch rider is Wout Poels and I think it's about time a Colombian wins the tour. So yeah..

Ethan Hill
>getting this butthurt Lmao.
>I think the point is more that most people are still unaccustomed to Brits being into cycling at all, much less winning. It's weird, the UK doesn't feel like a cycling country to anyone. Yeah that probably is it. Cycling has historically been dominated by continentals and has mostly taken place on the continent. So yeah I can see why continentals might think "these fucking Brits coming into our sport and winning". But we've been doing it for years now, and that's how it is. The best teams win at the end of the day. Britain won't always be successful (we weren't in 2014) so I'm enjoying our moment in the sun. Australia has succeeded at the Tour with Cadel Evans and so has America with Greg LeMond. Maybe continentals should accept the fact that the world is a big place and people from all across the world compete in these global events.
>Combine that with IneoSky living on the edge and abusing that worst and most legal of all dopings: very deep pockets. Nothing illegal about deep pockets. I've said it before but I'm surprised some massive French company hasn't come along and funded a team with a lot of money. Like, I dunno, Renault, or Total, or something.
>Lance Lance is a cunt and is not British so that's irrelevant to everything.
>It's hard to trust perpetual winners, especially in this sport. Yeah maybe, but I think it's money, like you say. And like I said, I'm surprised big continental companies haven't matched the same levels of investment of Sky/Ineos. I guess they have to an extent in recent years, copying things like lavish team buses and turbo trainers. But I'm surprised it hasn't been more, really.

>And lastly, I don't think I've ever seen or heard an English speaker root for a non-English speaker, Eurosport is the worst at this. The balance between nationalism and love for the sport doesn't seem to be quite right. I don't think you can seriously say that continentals are any different here mate. If there were no British riders in contention I'd probably pick other favourites, and maybe a Frenchman would do the same if there were no Frenchmen in contention. But while my countrymen are in contention, obviously I'm going to support them aren't I?
>Also, fyi, my favourite Dutch rider is Wout Poels and I think it's about time a Colombian wins the tour. Come on mate, if Poels was doing better you would obviously be supporting him wouldn't you? And don't try and tell me you weren't supporting Dumoulin last year - it would be unnatural not to. Everybody naturally supports their countrymen in this sport, it has always been that way. And in nearly every sport, of course.
Anyway, I understand where you're coming from with some of your points... obviously French people want French riders to win and I can understand them being resentful of Brits coming in, pumping a load of money in, and sort of buying success. Yeah, that is basically what Brits have done. But the French could do that too. Maybe they need to put more money in. And also me and my dad have been into cycling for years, and of course Brits never did well at the Tour at all. Now we're doing well, and like I say, I don't see why I shouldn't enjoy this while it lasts, because it won't last forever. When a Frenchman wins the Tour again, the French will of course love it.
No need to get butthurt mate.

I don't think you understand the economics. If more teams spend (much) more money it won't even the playing field. It'll drive up prices to a ridiculous level until there is no return for sponsors and investors. Yes, the sport could use more money, distributed across all teams. Unified broadcasting/sponsorship deals are what the sport needs, not guys with deep pockets. Remember what a disaster the whole Tinkoff thing was.
>Come on mate, if Poels was doing better you would obviously be supporting him wouldn't you? I literally just told you I'm supporting a rider who is a (super)domestique for a foreign team.... And no I don't care about Dumoulin, I just don't, and it isn't weird.
Also, the real reason people seem to resent your presence is your inane need to have the last word with b and pol style aggressive replies. Maybe if you just posted like a cycling fan rather than trying to defend some kind of pride or domain people would find you less annoying. Think about it.
Benjamin Gonzalez
>it's just a meme! Maybe some people mean it just as a meme, sure. But then there's other posters who are clearly legitimately butthurt about Britain.

>If more teams spend (much) more money it won't even the playing field. It'll drive up prices to a ridiculous level until there is no return for sponsors and investors. Yeah possibly. But surely French companies with deep pockets can recognise how much great PR they would get if they built a team that won the TdF again with a French rider. Whether that makes the rest of the sport suffer isn't really their concern.
>Unified broadcasting/sponsorship deals are what the sport needs Surely the sport already has unified broadcasting. Unlike e.g. La Liga where different teams have different TV contracts, right? Unless you mean the entire UCI World Tour should negotiate TV contracts instead of individual events, maybe that's what you mean?
>And no I don't care about Dumoulin Really? That is weird. Why wouldn't you support your countryman?
>your inane need to have the last word with b and pol style aggressive replies Maybe I've spent too much time on /pol/ even though I disagree with them on everything these days.
>Maybe if you just posted like a cycling fan rather than trying to defend some kind of pride or domain people would find you less annoying The thing is that you yourself have identified the issue. Continentals think that Brits don't belong in this sport. Well, we do, just as much as any other country. Just like Cadel Evans and Richie Porte belong, and just like Greg LeMond belonged. If people didn't get butthurt then I wouldn't ask them why they're butthurt, simple as that. But posting in here as a Brit it's like you've got a target on your back.
See, this is the sort of butthurt that baffles me.

TdF GC is for an all-round rider not a meme climber
Pinot should focus on the Vuelta
Austin Moore
Yeah except this TDF which is one of the lightest in ITT km's in years and has many high altitude mountain stages. Pretty much designer for Pinot and Bardet, both bad time trialists (tdf has 27 ITT km's, vuelta 36). I hope /pinot/ wins, Bardet I think has gone backwards the past years. I wouldn't mind for /pinot/ to target the Giro+Vuelta again, but it's definitely TDF > Giro > Vuelta. Vuelta field is usually guys who disappointed or DNF'd the tour de france. I don't think anyone ever targets the Vuelta at the start of the season. Although I do Love the Vuelta because every stage is hilly and even a flat stage has many uncategorized climbs. And they keep getting crazier in their choice of mountains, just trying to find the steepest parts of Spain
Henry Lee
Pinot isn't even that bad at TT desu, just inconsistent (unlike Bardet who is consistently absolutely awful at them). Occasionally he puts out a really good one.
Brayden Reed
Vuelta goes full meme on its parcours to pull more viewers, because it's less prestigious than Giro/TdF, and because Spain's countryside is just less pretty to look at than France and Italy. Not as many castles and shit to talk about.
Liam Hughes
Pinot is a guy who is desribed as a decent TT-er because he won the national championship once, and I think he also won one in the juniors? But I've never known him to ride a good ITT when it really mattered. As a /pinot/ fan it pains me to admit this
Parker Garcia
>Manager Marc Madiot, meanwhile, told Le Parisien that Pinot and his teammates had lost vital places after an error on a roundabout. "They apparently took a roundabout on a false flat on the left when they should have gone on the right. They went from 20th position to 60th and there was a split.

I feel sorry for the American riders after what Armstrong did to them. They are left out in the joy of /TdF/ Can i say this? Yes i can.
Jonathan Flores
They will always have LeMond, who was a thoroughly decent guy and a great champion.
It's a weird feeling. I miss that guy but at the same time, not at all.
At least we have Herman de schermman now, I like him.
Parker Rivera
Yes haha, they have Lemond. I just feel sorry for young American riders who wants to get into this sport. The shit they get from journalists is unfair.
Has anyone actually mapped the official routes of each stages and saved it as KML file so that you can use Google Earth to make a virtual tour of the stage?
Would be lit, or any other software that offers it?
I'd like to get more an overview of it, especially the mountain stages.
>Campagnolo >meme wheels But you can only pick one of the above user.

No idea. The wheel was straight as an arrow and the spokes were properly tensioned as far as I know. Hadn't hit any big potholes with the wheelset ever or otherwise abused it. It has seen ~20 000 km of riding though. Got out of the saddle to adjust my position slightly and just heard a loud pop. Power was around 200 W so I wasn't even sprinting or otherwise putting a lot of power through it.
Ironically enough I got a new wheelset for this summer and this was the first time out with these wheels after getting the new wheels.

Is his podcast any good? I only listen to De Rode Lantaarn, which is a great podcast, and they often refer to it because Jonne produces it
Jason Thomas
Do they get shit from journalists? Surely journalists are smart enough to know that whether you dope is dependent on how much of a cunt you are, not which country you come from. Cuntador doped. He's not American.
It's weird that the average age of this site used to be about that age, and now it's like most people on here are nearing or over 30. I guess Yea Forums just never attracted new people, it was mostly the same people who have posted here all the time.
Or maybe you'll say that it's just /cyc/ which happens to be older but I definitely think I see more older posters these days than I used to.
Colton Harris
Dunno, don't listen to podcasts. If I do something else during them, I end up missing almost everything, and if I focus on just listening to the podcast I get bored.
Joseph Campbell
Ignore the Britposting. You can do it, i believe in you
Landon Wright
>I guess Yea Forums just never attracted new people I guess this is true; Oldfags stayed at Yea Forums, some anime-something join every september, but overall the zoomer somewhere else these days (insta, some degenerate chinese smartphone apps, maybe fb) and never heard of the hacker Yea Forums.
t. guy who never heard his live commentary but watched him in de avondetappe for years.
Give it a shot, maybe. It is what I imagine to be quintessentially Dutch. I first got wind of them when they interviewed Tiesj Benoot and Oliver Naesen, now I'm a big fan. They also interviewed the likes of Fabio Jakobsen, Mike Teunissen, Seb Langeveld - really interesting interviews because they go very deep in the "process" of being a pro cyclist
There definitely are much more older posters here than 10 years ago. I guess this site is somewhat of a generational thing that is filled mostly with millennials with few boomers and zoomers mixed in. The people who came here along the way never left, as you're here forever, so the guys that were in their late teens or early 20s 10 - 15 years ago are now nearing or over 30.
There are also massive differences between boards and even threads. I'd bet that the containment boards like Yea Forums, /pol/, and Yea Forums, are mostly filled by edgy zoomers while slower more niche boards/threads have more older people.
Xavier Gutierrez
This is my problem with podcasts also. Miss everything if I have them on the background but it's too boring to listen to a podcast without doing anything else.
Dylan Morgan
You zoomer did it again! Are (You) replying to a a British flag? Fuck off.
Yeah /pol/ has definitely attracted more new people than other boards, especially around the election of Trump, so yeah I agree, but yes, I also agree that generally the age of the users has probably gone upwards over time. Maybe I'm wrong though and maybe analytics would show that I'm wrong. But yeah, it does feel like a generational thing. Especially since this site hasn't had a redesign ever and is probably just a weird old relic to many young people today.
Michael Sullivan
Thread is about to be archived. I dedicate this final post to /pinot/. May he rest well tomorrow and dominate in the high mountains
>have you seen Yea Forums lately? don't I've forgotten that place even exists desu.
>Especially since this site hasn't had a redesign ever and is probably just a weird old relic to many young people today. Yeah, but I'd also bet that the design also doesn't work for many of the boomers, especially because it works on users being anonymous. Boomers are the worst when it comes to shitposting just for the sake of increasing your post count and trying to attract a cult following around your online personality on a hobbyist forum. Eventually getting so big that they either become a moderator or get so friendly with the moderators that they're above any and all rules. After which point trying to discuss with them about anything becomes completely fucking pointless because they're always right and if you dare question their reasoning they'll start berating you and call in their personal army to harass you unless you're another boomer with a cult following in which case the discussion gets ugly but the mods do nothing because they've created untouchable monsters.
There's a reason why I come back to this shithole and it's because the other options are even worse.
Nicholas Cooper
Fuglsangs daily column in danish newspaper BT got publised.
Apparently the reason Cort did all that work up front, was a deal Cort made with Moerkoev, that if he did work in the DQ train, Fuglsang could sit on the end of it and be shielded from wind (Moerkoev is the road captain).
That however created some dissatisfaction from other riders, incl. Wellens, who started to push him over the spot - so they dropped it halfway through.
He further says their scouting party driving ahead of the peloton, had reported no danger for the rest of the stage, on wide easy roads.
He accepts responsibility for the poor positioning and the end result, and writes that from now on, he will be a tougher boss during the race, to force the team to be better at positioning.
That seems like a rather late realisation........ especially since Astana have been critiqued about this after every stage so far.
Last in the column he writes, that it is now clear he needs to start winning back time (no more defensive riding?).
yeah Yea Forums went to total shit after 2016 I mean, it was always a shithole, but before that it was at least a meme factory just constantly churning out content, and a lot of waifubait, but also having the occasional good film discussion if you knew where to look
Now, it's all just SNEED (most forced unfunny meme ever) and /pol/ shit in 98% of threads

ahh, fuck it. home office and /tdf/ it is tomorrow. haven't watched since sunday.
The distance they have to travel from stage 14 to get to stage 15 is sick, over 220 km....will arrive short of midnight, just to get a few hours of sleep to stand up early for the next mountain stage.
Cooper Morgan
> that it is now clear he needs to start winning back time (no more defensive riding?).
It would be funny if the long anticipated mountain stages will turn out to be boring because Ineos will totally control it, while the hilly stages were the ones with most action.
Kevin King
it's happening, and it's tragic, not funny
Only thing that can save us is the inevitable Thomas crash being significant enough to shake things up
Justin Gutierrez
Fuglsang, Pinot, Uran and the other pretenders should risk everything, go into the reds even with a high risk of blowing up the next stage.
