Depends what you mean. The UK came into existence in 1707 with the act of Union.
The modern final protestant monarchy with the particular relatinoship it has to parliament now was formed in 1688 with the 'Glorious Revolution' where we brought protestant nobility King William from Holland to come rule us instead of Catholic King James.
The current monarch of the house of 'Windsor' (name changed in WW1) is from the house of Hannover and Saxe Coburg Gotha.

My point was that the term 'modern monarchy' could best be said to be founded in 1688; as this was when the dispute between parliament and the monarch was more or less sorted we we had a completely protestant constitutional monarchy.
