Would soccer be improved if
1. There was no offsides rule
2. There was a backcourt violation rule
3. Unlimited substitutions
4. The clock actually counted down and stopped when out of play.
5. Ejections for diving and feigning injury
Would this make the sport tolerable?
Would soccer be improved if
The only thing that would improve football is banning Americans from playing or talking about it.
We already have this. It's called basketball.
>tf
>tp
EVERY fucking time
inb4 this obvious low-effort bait thread gets 200 replies
1. no
2. no
3. no
4. really doesn't change much
5. diving can already lead to yellow cards, rest of what people call diving is too difficult to judge objectively
no, but this would
1. only fouls inside the gk area are awarded a penalty and yellow card minimum for any infraction
2. any foul inside big area but outside gk area = free kick within half circle with limited wall rules, taker picks the spot
3. third foul inside big area = penalty from then on
>offsides
>tfw can tell the op is american without opening the thread
:)
This sounds based. We should implement these rules!
When the first post is also the best post.
Nothing can improve this shit sport.
Euros, pls no bull us. You see, we suck at the sport and we don’t really know what to do to start actually being good. So put yourselves in our shoes. You would probably, in an act of desperation, change the rules to make it more understandable.
Please don’t be mad at us for trying to Americanize the sport so that we may better understand what’s happening on the field. I know we suck but we’re out of ideas bros
Reddit.
What? Is that your preferred website or something?
Checked. It’s probably his base
>please big strong europeans PLEASE accept me
Lose weight
1. Offsides actually helps the game's entertainment value. Without it, soccer would just be hoofing the ball back and forth like a giant volleyball match.
2. Would only force players to make bad passes and turn the ball over
3. Would remove a ton of interesting strategy from the game for little to no improvement in game quality
4. Would be nice but is cosmetic
5. Are already a thing
>Ejections for diving and feigning injury
Would this make the sport tolerable?
They should start with the NBA first
Only thing that needs to change is that throw-ins should be kick-ins. It makes more sense and should lead to more goals.
You should never watch or talk about anything related to football ever again, stick to w*men's soccer.
Murican, eh? It shows.
Fuck off
>There was no offsides rule
please tell me how this would improve anything
i think the referee shold say why they made that decision when they use var like in the NFL
Agreed. Also the ability to decline free throws and awarding points if fouled on a shot attempt.
Like that idea. Should be added as an option.
Fast breaks more scores.
>more scores
it would reduce attacking build ups to just lobbing the ball. not all sports need to have double digit goals
Coupled with a turnover for back court violation, the lack of an offsides penalty would mean that fast break attempts could result. This gives the offense less field to cover. Volleying would be contained.
I’d like to see a test game under these rules.
Interesting tweek , should be done.
No
No
No, but a fourth sub in extra time should be implemented as a standard
Wouldn't change much, might be a slight improvement
Retroactive fines and suspensions are a better route, but this would be a small change since in 99% of cases there is some contact to the player who goes down.
Why is more scoring in soccer a bad thing?
>americans are against offside so the game is more entertaining and offensive
>they don't understand offside is exactly for that
>otherwise everyone stands with 11 in their own side,so you can't eat counters
1. shit
2. shit
3. might be good but refs would do a garbage job keeping it 11 per side
4. maybe, but then again officials will fuck it up
5. is desperately needed
How does hockey not have this problem?
the whole premise of it is shit. it's a sport that completely focuses on legs and not arms. its doomed to be shit no matter what you do
Should we add a no pass for the mid court line? Ie can’t pass the ball past the mid court line. Must be ran past.
that was not my point you dumb fuck. the point was that it would make the game less exciting by reducing the amount of viable attacking play strategies. it would just be long balls and zero build up. which would be boring to watch
You sound fat
only 1/4 of our major sports has double digits scoring a side though though. our football has scoring variation to differentiate the type of scores. hockey is about double what soccer is, and baseball is below double digits scoring too and a lot of those scores come in batches of more than 1 at a time
if americans loved muh scoring arena football wouldn't be a complete fringe sport most people don't know still exist.
The sport is already boring.
>implying that was my point
well making even more boring would not fix it
Arena football failed due to it attempting to be a minor league for the real thing. It had good attendance, but the high scores were from having the defense’s hands tied.
I guess limited subs with 4 timeouts per half? You can sub and resub during a timeout?
1. indoor soccer has no off side [sic], it just leads to idiots cherry picking
2. hockey is just fine with "backcourt" passing
3. unlimited subs wouldn't be a bad upgrade, but subs slow down the game more than passing the ball backwards
4. they tried the countdown clock in american leagues, with the stopping it during scores and out of balance, it messed with the flow of the game since they used it to throw in commercials
5. there are rules in place to get carded for diving. sometimes they are hurt (or just wind knocked out), and the pain does go away fairly quickly, so just because they get up doesn't mean they weren't hurt
What the fuck does backcourt violation mean? That sounds like a meme made up to make fun of american sports
They need to make the field smaller so there's more action and easier scoring opportunities
When you "accidentally" start going in the wrong door
once you get past the center line you can't go back towards your own goal with the ball. it forces you to attack to some degree. think this is the most obvious sensible thing without really doing anything to harm the game
I can't believe the amount of trash being posted right now. Americans are doing it just for the laughs, right? Like some sort of parody
>can't defend his trash sport intellectually
>reverts to emotional attacks
it's a gay ass sport for poorshit low iq shitskins and countries that don't like team sports. england might be the only exception and they started the damn thing
What if, get this:
We have football matches but instead of footballers playing, hear me out, we have minge eaters play instead!
that's why indoor soccer is superior
The point of this thread is to just shit on soccer.
>Hur dur soccer would be better if it was basketball
Your opinion is trash and nobody cares if you don't like soccer
based
>should lead to more goals.
how tho
>low iq shitskins
why don't americans like it then?
>its another exciting 0-0
This. The only entertaining soccer I've ever watched was the Philly Kixx indoor team when I was younger
says the european bumpkin oilniggers. literally the beverly hillbillies of europe
This is one of the things that bothers me about soccer.
Hockey handball and basketball are just soccer with different rules and court sizes.
England also has rugby, but it doesn’t get the eyes it deserves.
plus its a much bigger field of play so it's much less intrusive to strategy. it's basically just don't kick the ball around a mile from anything and waste time
God damn! Another tie.
Instead of a shootout, they should remove a player from each side every five minutes into ot
The lack of last second finish drama hurts soccer.
and cricket, that was part of my point
Cricket makes baseball look fast. And I’ve never quite understood the rules.
I agree with all of these except the no offsides. The game would devolve into pass-to-the-pacey-nog
I guess there might be a point to this, but wouldn’t defensive specialist start evolving their skill sets? And would teams really go to a full press formation or a full defense formation?
Interesting ideas.
Based
Same way corners lead to goals
I actually like this suggestion
Fpbp
because ice hockey has offsides too
This is true, but hockey changed their rules so they could have more scores
ways to objectively improve soccer
>redcard flopping theatrics(neymar)
>stop extra time when it hits the actual alloted time, not +7 minutes ending at 58:16
>yellow card time wasting during substitutions
>scantily clad cheerleaders
>salary cap
Hmmmmm
why do americans care so much about diving?
Because, sports are about warfare not acting hurt.
Watch any Pele era matches.
"soccer" is okay as it is, without any fat "people" being part of it
you may go back to niggercollide now, cuck
>Please don’t be mad at us for trying to Americanize the sport
We already know how well that went.
en.wikipedia.org
youtube.com
why is the grass in front of the net is different color?
You can kick the ball further than you can throw it
>6 sentences all say the same thing.
why did you need to repeat yourself so many times? ever written an essay?
>Implying we do anyway
Hockey style subs would be better
They waste so much time making subs
>2. hockey is just fine with "backcourt" passing
well hockey has a concept of zones. back passing is ok in your defensive zone as a way to start an attacking play. it is rarely done as it is dangerous in the neutral zone, and is considered an extremely sloppy play if the puck is not kept in the offensive zone.
>ahmed's banter
Score 1 goal in first five minutes. Play the next 89 minutes in a trap, wasting time at every moment by diving, slow walking, and complaining.
Muh beautiful sport lol. It’s a game for 8 year old girls to play
>t it doesn’t get the eyes it deserves.
it does
