i played in the youth academy from age 8 to 15 at a reasonably sized club here until i had to quit due to illness, but we were definitely ahead of teams of grown ups playing in the third division purely in terms of tactics and technique, only losing out on something like physicality which you have to account for a young age, with women that becomes a non-issue.
similarly right now, if the women's teams lose to FC Who u15 or Dallas u15 with numbers like 7-0 or 5-2, you can just imagine what the u15 of any worthwhile European academy is going to do to them.
Its true. I have actually watched their sport and play it myself regularly, so I know that it is laughable to compare them on skill and ability.
It is fascinating how many people, who don't know shit about the sport, have a really strong opinion about how unjust it is to the women. If you took gender out of it and compared any group, like Bus drivers and F1 drivers, you could make loads of arguments (e.g. only one is useful to public, F1 is wasteful and bad for environment, etc.), but no one does.
I guess what annoys people is that the world is full of injustice, but somehow the one's affecting women are constantly talked about and highlighted in the media, causing a massive public backlash against those eternal victims (bit like the jews really).
Plus Fun Fact: Women are not forbidden from playing in men's football league. FIFA does allow it, there just never has been a single women deemed good enough (for marketing and hype reasons, any club would love to find one that is!)
The English FA made the worlds first full time 20 team professional league. It ended up having an average attendance of 200 per game. It's now being absorbed (read, bailed out) into a different league. The world will NEVER admit that it's completely fucking unsustainable and thus will just take money out of the men's game to pay for it.
