Asia =/= china
I don't know that much about martial arts, but I'm pretty sure muay thai is quite effective in case of real fights.
so is judo
so is full contact karate
the olympics ruined those sports
This, also judo, kyokushin karate and tae kwon do.
they do but most people learn the sport version of them rather than the versions created to fuck people up
They do but you don't hear about it because their underlying ethical values praise modesty and respect instead of showmanship and unneeded conflict and that ends up translating to the techniques
This and also people tend to equate the style with the people it originated. Asians are too weak to beat other races so these styles get shit on now
They can help, but people overestimate their effectiveness compared to other factors like size and weight. They train against equal skilled/sized opponents that they can prepare for, but in real life they get zonked by a surprised sucker punch from a big guy, or just grappled to the ground before their training can be any useful.
for the same reason knives don't work in a gun fight
kinda true, the best practitioners are always white, black or latino. However, all that shit is nullified if a strong dude bumrushes you with actual wrestling knowledge.
Can we consider jujutsu asian if the most effective one is brazillian jujutsu btw?
Cringe
I can smell your unwashed kid sized kimono from all the way here
They all are about rituals and shit. Asians can’t fight except for some Turkic branches, I wasn’t intimidated in the slightest when I hopped bars in Phuket-town without paying.
What is that reaction time? Embarassing opponent.
Literally the only asian martial art that doesnt work in real fights is kung fu, which is basically dancing around. The rest work pretty well
BJJ was essentially established and developed early on by Japanese immigrants in Brazil, so I'd say so
Brazilian jiu-jitsu was created by the Gracies
Lack of resisting partners to train, not training full contact or functional/pratical movrs. Otherwise you are just LARPing as Bruce Lee.
Cringe.
They're more about discipline and self control than actual combat.
That shaolin stuff was only for basic self-defense and strengthen their Buddhist faith.
They are still just praying monks in the end.
Real way to fight is to use any strategy and tactics possible to win.
That's why ambush and long-distance fighting has evolved as clearly superior.
>Asian martial arts
with or without weapons?
lmao my tai chi would ruin anybody in a fight bro. my kata is sick bro none of yous would stand a chance id kick all your asses come try me brah.
Because my gun will prevail over any puny ching chong martial arts.
*Cage fights
Not even memeing
Only the Chinese shit and aikido, don't lump the legit Thai / Japanese / Korean martial arts in there with them. Pretty much everyone in the UFC studies some form of asian martial art to round themselves out, whether it's judo, karate, muay thai, ju jutsu, tae kwon do, etc.
They do if you're close enough youtube.com
Silat unironically would be pretty effective
>tae kwon do
Blocking punches and kicks only works for so long. Eventually you need to throw a punch.
