Surely Germans must acknowledge that, for all their historical skill in statecraft and managing their own affairs, they have one of the worst records in geopolitics ever?
Aside from Bismarck, all German leaders seem to have a special talent for becoming globally despised because they don't think things through properly.
Thinking you have a special right to just take vast swathes of land and assume a position at the head of global politics without anyone else's approval is why you've historically ended up with only the shittiest of allies, up against the strongest of coalitions.

I know that, but these days nobody is srsly advocating for invasions and wars and stuff like that, but most people here are still convinced that the entire world should be more like us.

You can see it in the attitude towards the Visegrad countries, the US, Italy but also the UK where you would think the Brits live in a 3rd world country the way our media potrays you because you always refuse to listen to us and want to go your own way.

Yes, the war part is a bit outdated, but the "assume a position at the head of global politics" still stands I'd say. Pretty much the same as what you said, most Germans I've spoken to seem to think they are the only country that has a clue what they're doing, and compare their rich middle class neighbourhood to the parts of other countries so bad they make the news abroad.
Not technically Germany, but my Uncle moved to Switzerland about 30 years ago and he literally has nothing positive to say about the UK at all now and thinks the whole world should be like Switzerland. He has the same attitude towards football, my dad and I support a shit English club whilst he supports Basel, and he harps on about how our team plays negative football compared to Basel as if that's a fair comparison.
