Oi you brits ready for the most patrician form of sport
Oi you brits ready for the most patrician form of sport
Couldn't have picked a worse date for this if they tried. games will be on at the same time as two really good matches of the cricket world cup. I know there's a dick measuring contest between baseball and cricket but I doubt that's genuine aside from retarded pajeets. I'm fairly certain that cricket fans would be the most likely of people to at least check out what this other bat and ball sport is like, and vice versa would be true if cricket held some matches stateside. But with new zealand vs australia and england vs india going on no cricket fan will be watching baseball.
>I know there's a dick measuring contest between baseball and cricket
I have never met a baseball fan who cares about cricket or a cricket fan who cares about baseball. There's no positivity and no malice either.
> no cricket fan will be watching baseball.
That isn't the point. London is just the venue. This is just like with the NFL and NBA London games, it's a gimmick to get fans from all over Europe to fly in.
Part of why they are doing this is to try and get a new audience for baseball. In my opinion at least the best potential for that new audience is from cricket fans, who are already fans of a somewhat similar sport. But they won't be getting those fans with this timing.
and the dick measuring thing is mostly just internet shitposting probably. Hard to believe that you've never seen a baseball vs cricket argument just on Yea Forums if you've been here long at all
the rays could be moved there for a third of the season as an experiment
John Henry showing off to his globalist frens
Also I hate the massive foul territory. One of the best parts of attending a baseball game vs cricket is how close you can be to most of the action, but not in this stadium
nah we don't want that shit. art of the reason the nfl series is so popular is it's partly limited. having that many games here for baseball would be shit. not to mention you'd struggle to find somewhere to host it for long periods
the schedule and travel would make it impossible anyway
the brits would understand this game more if MLB called it a 'match' and replaced 'rivalry' with 'derby', hell, make it sound like spurs and arsenal and call it the 'northeast american derby'. huge mess up right there desu
yeah. there's been some talk of an nfl expansion team here but i'm not sure that would work and those lazy fucks only play like 5 games a year
Goddam I'm excited for morning baseball boys.
>want to "grow the game" overseas
>send teams that regularly have 4+ hour games and play slow as shit
why the fuck would any brit watch this and think "yeah this is fucking awesome"
i think they chose those two because of the rivalry, given british sports has a hardon for them. problem is the sox/yankees rivalry means literally nothing to people who don't know/care about the history of baseball
and the bigger the game is the slower they play, and this is bigger than normal, I think
I'm not big on baseball, how do teams play slower compared to others? Just like taking a long time between pitches or what?
yeah basically.
the more important the game is the slower it tends to be, playoff games are slower than regular season. no one wants to mess up so they're just more deliberate than usual, typically more liberal with pitching changes also. The new limit to mound meetings helps a bit but a pitch clock seems inevitable in the near future
Gotcha, anyway pretty sure the only people that will go to this or even know this event is happening are people that are already baseball fans.
Didnt they learn from the NFL games that nobody cares
cam on you yanks
ate boston scum
we have 5-day cricket matches, you know
not a britbong, but close enough
>cheapest tickets £120
fuck off, i thought i might turn up and see if i can fill an empty seat for cheap
they cared enough to say fuck spurs and destroy an epl pitch
Hope Boston shits on the Yankees.
hope Didi gets a nice ovation being from europe
I got some for £65 each
Attending tomorrow desu.
Cubs/Cardinals are also playing in Londonstan next summer.
I might fly over and pay you Mohammeds a visit.
Yep, all Europeans love each other. That's why the EU is so popular. Clearly he has pure European ancestry too.
>Also I hate the massive foul territory.
Also it's 380 to dead center lol
Didi is Dutch, I don't think the English like the Dutch right now or vice versa with all the Brexit stuff going on
I don't think you understand anything. We don't hate euros, we hate the EU.
I heard a lot of Dutch people bought tickets.
the Netherlands got screwed out of these games. best baseball country in Europe and a few years back they built a ballpark to MLB specifications as they were told to be able to host games and MLB ignores them and goes for the London money grab anyway.
gaps are just as far though, I read there are 4 MLB stadiums that have less outfield space overall
>a pitch clock seems inevitable in the near future
Technically there is a pitch clock. IIRC the rule is like 10 seconds max between pitches or the ump calls a ball. But I've literally never seen it enforced.
