Because unlike the other teams, Mercedes actually improved every aspect of their car. They have the best chassis, best engine, best cornering speed, most downforce etc. While all the other teams are STILL figuring this stuff out, Mercedes is miles ahead. They didn't even bring updates to France and still dominated because their car is that much better. Not only the car is better though, they have the best team too. It all works smooth like a machine and everyone has a job and you never see Mercedes panicking in the garage. Ferrari is riddled with chaos, and RedBull have a dog of a chassis this year, combine that with an engine deficit and you have the current state of F1.
