On the other hand, if he played in the modern NBA Jordan would probably be insane, especially as he learned to become a better shooter as his career progressed.

That's the entire reason why it's tricky to compare elite players across eras. You can say that modern players do certain things better, but that's just because the league has evolved to put emphasis on those things and away from the things that the old legends did well. There's no real reason that an elite basketball player couldn't adapt his skills to any given time period.

It's like how Kareem only ever took one three-pointer in his entire career. You can say he wouldn't fit in in this current era, but is that true? He WAS an awfully good shooter. If you dropped him into 2019 there's no reason he couldn't chuck threes with the best of them, probably better than a lot of players. It's even more true for Jordan, who actually WAS a great 3-point shooter. Jordan would be insane in the modern NBA.
