Oh shit I'ma get a buncha shit for this one!
Pink Floyd- Dark Side Of The Moon
Kurt Vonnegut- Slaughterhouse-Five
kurt vonnegut is the shittiest postmodernist unless you really stretch it and include zadie smith
Honestly, I really didn't care how deep it was or anything. Thought it was a fun book with wacky shit.
yes and he's the shittiest at doing that. If on a winter's night a traveler blows S5 out of the water.
I also like the book, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, if you want a better book to analyze.
Selling England by the Pound and Slaughterhouse Five
I don't care if you're a pleb I'm telling you that kurt vonnegut is the worst postmodern writer
Honestly, I just don't have much time to read books anymore, Ill add "If on a winter's night" to my list. Thanks for that, even if I know you are completely shitting on my taste haha.
I read it in middle school and thought the way the narrative worked was cool but I dont think i really understood it. It was fun for me to try to figure if vonnegut was just talking about bullshit or actually trying to say something
the main character had PTSD but that excuse doesn't make up for the ending when the evil darwinian doctor wanted the plane crash war hero to just die for being weak and nice nurses just wanted everyone to live :) and when he breaks the fourth wall to tell you maybe you should consider the symbolism of the two maternity ward doctors who chose not to have children walking around bombed out dresden. Holy hackjob.
I hadn't heard of this but it sounds really cool, thanks for posting this
Oh half of that book is MAJOR bullshit, and I actually really liked the book. The main part of it is just WAR BAD, DESDEN AHhHhH!
The main part that I liked about that book, is that literally someone can just skip over one line, and miss a main complainant of the story. If I recall the line with his wife dying wasn't even a sentence long,
yeah but wasn't the plot being completely nonsensical the point of it, I haven't read the book in a few years
Yes, Man literally got kidnapped by aliens, and afterwards he goes to a porn shop and he is like...ah nice porn. so it goes. etc.
that part is because he has PTSD. There were no aliens and he didn't fuck a pornstar with his enormous cock in a star trek zoo
It's super fucking long but infinite jest's entire "actual plot" is told this way. Most of the book follows around characters but the main overarching narrative and specifically how it went down you've really got to be paying attention.
Man, I need to read more books, my girlfriend got me the full hitchhikers guide to the galaxy for Christmas, and im still on the first book.
those books are fucking hilarious, maybe the funniest I've read. Confederacy of Dunces and Gulliver are also really funny. Some of Tommy Ps stuff is really funny too but most of it isn't put the book down and laugh funny. Idk though media makes me laugh/cry very easily.
Nice that's good, I've got a few other books too, including Dune, Akira, Do androids dream of electric sheep, Sandman.
good man. Are you kind of young? Don't be afraid of classic books and big postmodern tomes like gaddis or pynchon. It doesn't matter if you don't understand everything immediately or at all. People have this idea that "the classics" are stuffy and boring and it's just not true. Don Quixote is a slapstick comedy with poop jokes.
thomas pynchon - v
Yeah Im only in college, don't really get much time to read much shit. Oh I read some Don Quixote, shit was great, needed to read more. Hey I'm not the only one who thinks to kill a mocking bird is way overrated right? That was a major snorefest.
first year of college btw. I'm only 22, and as a kid I didn't read much, and I highly regret it.
No you're not. It was held artificially in high regard because of the bleeding heart subject matter and there only being about five female authors anyone can name in all of history
Cool man, do you have discord? I think we should talk about books more, when I actually get around to reading them haha.
I don't but Yea Forums exists. You'll have to deal with a little more gatekeeping than you're getting from me but it won't be too bad
Alrighty, yeah you're right, anyways thanks man. Ill see ya laters
peace man just stand your own when you use the board don't let them hivemind meme you

You're perfectly content to stand in the lobby of greatness but haven't mustered the enthusiasm to buy a ticket.
You're an incredibly white atheist but you've read the Qu'ran because you think it'll make you interesting and open minded.
Your imagination left when the rest of you died inside.
I have nothing derogatory to say about you. Just damn good taste, son.
You have sincerely used the phrase "I'm not racist, but..."
You're a flippity gombo spletch
You're indecisive
You get impatient when people talk about things that aren't directly related to you or your hobbies
You are like President Millard Fillmore; boring but benign.
You make smoking pot a part of your identity and wouldn't smoke if you couldn't be smug about it.
You place an arbitrary value on how 'mature' any given work is.
Missed you two.
You're a cheeky alcoholic extrovert whose friends are brief and in a turbulent state of revolution.
Closet homosexual who crosses the street when they see latinos or blacks coming towards them.
The only part you got right was the alcoholic part
Led Zeppelin and Moby Dick
That could have applied to a lot of these, myself included. I guess I should post mine too, huh?
