Did the Lakers just get fleeced

They are literally getting a HoF player.

>Lonzo
Addition by subtraction

No. Getting a young superstar for some busts and draft picks is always the right move.

OP is being sarcastical. AD + LeBron - anyone named Ball = Title

Ball is better than Davies though

Yes, according to Yea Forums

Now that they're Pelicans, Ingram and Ball are god-tier young talents and not busts.

0/10

work on your bait. it's embarrassing

> Ball, Ingram

Garbage.

So it's 3 first round picks and Hart for AD.

If AD leaves in a year, yes they absolutely did. If he stays, then only maybe.

It's a good compliment to Lebron, it's not enough to make them Champions but they'll have a strong playoff performance for once. If they can attract some FA's who just want to be with Lebron that could matter.

Zion will leave to a better team to get his ring.

Most likely includes a guarantee Davis signs an extension

Yes. Mortgaging their future for a non-leader in AD, playing alongside an over-the-hill and overrated LeBeta who’s already halfway out the door. This will go down as a historic mistake

Literally not possible

Lelkers are the new Knicks. Shades of the Anthony deal, but I guess they have an old LeBrick. One deep playoff run then 10+ years of irrelevancy.

the best thing the lakers got out of this trade is the subtraction of lavar ball from lakers media

They get 2 championships out of this MINIMUM.

Remember how long it took for guys like Curry, Harden, and Westbrook to okay at the level they're playing at today

Lmao the delusion

Every Knicksfag had the same mentality. The Lakers are so fundamentally broken from the top down that no level of star power can fix them.

>Lonzo
>Ingram
>Hart
>2019 4th overall pick
>2021 first round pick
>2023 first round pick

Honestly, I don't think any of these assets really turn into anything that comes close to what AD is. It sounds like they gave up a lot but written down like this it is all just kind of meh stuff outside that 4th pick maybe turning into something surprising.

Women should not be allowed to talk about men’s sports

What is AD? An injury prone whiner who has never played a full season in his career?

This is the guy that's supposed to be a cornerstone of the Lakers franchise now?

was just gonna say that if they traded GMs it might be a fair deal. The Lakers are all fucked up and AD isn't gonna help

How can the Pelicans guarantee AD will sign a contract extension?

People still thought Melo was good when he went to NY. Davis has already shown he can carry a weak team to the playoffs.

no. keeping kuzma was big for them, he's the best offensive player of their young guys. ingram has blood clot issues and has underachieved, and lonzo can't shoot + has a media circus around him. lakers getting AD plus still having the cap space for a 3rd max player is huge for them, especially with GSW being hurt.

They pinky promised.

>advanced past the first round once in 7 years
>HoF player
Lmao

Knicks fans said this about Carmelo 8 years ago.

Lmfao in what world is he a hall of famer

>two all stars
>best bench players gone
>Aging LeBron
>injury prone big-man
They’ll make it to the 2nd round and get bounced out by Denver or Portland

Attached: 202615E6-F5D3-4C30-A361-EEF22029DC33.jpg (384x313, 12K)

that entirely depends on who else they sign, if they get a good 3rd star then sure. if they overpay for butler or tobias harris or vucevic or something, nope

If Zion stays and they manage to flip some of these assets into picking up a good jumper the Pelicans might end up having a better long run than the Lakers

>he thinks making the playoffs in a league where 16/30 teams make it is an achievement

>post yfw lelkers get swept in 5 in the first round vs based beard

He's a 26 year old legit franchise player. He's worth more than everything the Lakers gave up. Lonzo is hurt all the time, Ingram contract is almost up and he will want a lot of money and hasn't proven anything yet and has blood clots, Hart is a bench player, 4th pick might be good, but the other 2 first round picks won't turn into anything. Rarely do picks outside the lottery turn into anything more than okay role players, especially picks below 20.

lakers gave up way too much lmao. their team is AD + Bron + a bunch of bums

People acting like some vet mins and a few key role players wont make Lakers a championship team. From memory Kuzma had the best 3pt% of all the youngins (not much of an achievement) so I'm gad they kept him.

i mean, that's the most reasonable take i've seen.

Wouldn't they better off getting a starter caliber PG and a good 3+D wing instead of a 3rd max player?

He has the capability to be one. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional.

they already have kuzma and lebron at the wings, they could max kemba to give them a solid PG

there is now no basketball reason for Kawhi to ever pick the Clips over the Lakers this summer. Will sleep peacefully knowing that. Kawhi, AD, Lebron would be the best big three of alllllll time.

and melo will go to the hall of fame

They can't afford a max deal. Kawhi is likely a Clipper on this condition.

Hmmmmmmmm

Name one (1) team that can stop my Lakies next year.

how does this affect BBB?

you know he was lmaoing when he typed that out and hit send the madman

i would be really pissed off because it'd be an amazing once-in-a-lifetime team in a dumpster fire franchise i hate

Why not just wait until next year when he's a free agent?

Kawhi about to end the Lakers franchise too now

LMAO

Everyone in the West sans Memphis, Minnesota, Phoenix, and Sacramento

Isn't he a free agent next season?

Pelicans will have more wins than the Lakers.

If trading Lonzo results in a Laker championship before LeBron gets old, then it obviously will be worth it. But I doubt that will happen. I say Laker fans will ultimately regret trading Lonzo Ball.

AD wanted out

Even Sacramento could win a game or two

But why did the Lakers fleece themselves if Davis is gonna be a UDFA next season? Why not just wait it out and stock up on as much draft talent as possible?

>Comparing LeBron to 40 year old Steve Nash

laker haters delusional, they clearly won this trade
especially by keeping kuzma

if boston did their deal with tatum, they would have been fleeced

Lebron is getting older and the Pelicans doesn't want to lose him for nothing, and thanks to Davis' agent Rich Paul it seems that AD will re-sign with the Lakers

Davis can opt-out from the last year of the contract after next season and become an unrestricted free agent (and secure a bigger bag)

lebron is kobe in this scenario you mouthbreathing cromag

PELS GOT BALL ZION AND 3 1sts...

Toronto

Bucks

Sixers

Rockets

Nuggets

Portland

Clippers with Kawhi

>i mean

Attached: reddit.jpg (489x367, 56K)

She’s right though

should've gotten Kuzma and Lonzo

She’s objectively right

The pelicans got fleeced. They basically gave away Davis for free

Literally most teams in both conferences

They legit only need to worry about 2 teams in the league, and they are all in the West. Denver and Portland.

If they fall, its an easy ring for LA.

They really should have kept Ingram and traded Kuzmeme.

>portland
meme team
i'm not scared of a team that starts evan turner or maurice harkless. lebron will school them.

>lol
>LOL
>maybe
>LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
>maybe
>LOOOOOL
>implying Kawhi is leaving

Draft picks don't matter when you're a contender.

>all this anti-Laker chatter from leafs

And we were all rooting for you against the (((Memeiors))) too. Shame
It's OK though. The Lakers won't be everyone's favorite team. We understand. Everything happens for a reason.

yikes

IT KEEPS HAPPENING

Attached: lalkers.jpg (600x374, 208K)

Pretty much this. When I hear about a "budding superstar" on a team like the Hawks, Pelicans, Suns, etc shit team, I just ignore. Media manufactured hype for someone that hasn't done shit. Davis has won one (1) playoff series

Bucks, Raptors, 76ers are all head and shoulders above any chumps in the w*st

this will go down as worse then the billy king trade. mortgaged your future for the next ten years just so Lebron has a shot (not even a guaranteed shot) to win for one year before he's washed.

Yes they can. They just have to pay everyone else peanuts

Not how it works. Try again.

Eh, if Davis sticks around afterwards and is still Davis (muh 8 seed at best) that alone makes it better. The Nets had absolutely nothing going for them for a decade, including all the guys they traded for

Lebron is 35 too old. This may have worked a few years ago. They will get to the second round of the playoffs.

He is old and can't shoot. Very bad combo. SAD!

it's a good deal for both teams, especially since boston wouldn't give up tatum

Zion doesn’t have to sign his rookie contract with them right?

here is your you...chock on it

Why doesn't this nigga just shave his eyebrow?

>Ball has played 50 games in two seasons >Ingram has blood clots
>Hart just had knee surgery
>2 of the 3 picks will be at the back end of the 1st round

Attached: 1530174397949.jpg (900x574, 86K)

>laker fans are now calling their assets trash after saying they were overpaying for ad yesterday

She is categorically right on all accounts

No, because if healthy lebron and Davis could quite possibly win a title. You take that chance every time.

no but the formerly Hornets won this, what a reorientation

Lakers have to win a championship with AD

How does LaVar feel about his son in Nerlens

>LeBron finally has someone to catch alley-oops for the first fucking time in his career
This'll be a fun season

Thats the point. Heat HAD to win a chip. CAVS had to win a chip... see the pattern. Chip or bust. Lebron knows that better than anyone probably

I don't think it's a terrible trade, but it's steep. Like, what the hell do you do to fill the other spots now? They need more defense, but they also need a PG, and the only superstar PGs on the market are Kemba and Kyrie, who can't defend shit. Do they get one of them, or try to go for Jimmy plus a cheap PG, like Beverley/Rubio?

No
But if anthony tears his achilles then yes

Players will come to la and fill out the roster on discount contracts, happens all the time.

Getting the superstar is the hard part. Ring-chasing veterans like Ray Allen, Mike Miller, and Korver are easy to find and will likely take paycuts for a chance to be on a winning team

They'll pay a bunch of journeymen 500 bucks and a gift card to red lobster to fill out the ranks

Damn. New Orleans should have asked for the Staples Center as well.

She's not wrong. Lakers have garbage front office, garbage GM, and soon, a garbage coach.
While AD is better than Nash and Howard (Nash was at the tail end of his career, Howard is a shitclown), him and James are gonna get 0 help.

Well, yeah, but the kind of team they want to be will be determined by the third superstar they get.
I just worry that Kemba/Random veteran/Bron/Kuz/AD won't stop anybody on defense in the playoffs.

>2 of the 3 picks will be at the back end of the 1st round
No, they will be lottery picks

They don't need a third superstar. They need 3 good role players.

What good PGs are even out there that can complement James/Davis?

Rondo

He's already on the Lakers. He's always injured and isn't as good as he used to be.

The 2021 and 2023 picks can be swapped out until 2025.

Once the Lakers are bottom tier garbage, the Pelicans can swap out their 1st round positions.

They hold the Lakers draft in their hands for the next seven years. If the Lakers get the first pick or second or third... the Pelicans can swap positions with that pick if they want.

The 2021 and 2023 are swap options that do not have to be exercised on those years.

the lakers will pick up one more FA and go to the Finals next season.

Warriors will be without KD
Rockets always choke
That leaves LeBron and co. Easy trip to the Finals

Can NBA players go back to school after they declare for the draft? I know they can't in football, but they can in baseball.

You can go back to school or join another league

Patrick Beverly can work out if he decides to change teams or the Clippers don't resign him. Kemba Walker can also work if they decide to spend more money since he's a scoring guard but he'd have to basically be like Kyrie was in Cleveland. Guards like Rondo are actually the worst since he's useless on offense without being a passer and his defense is long gone. The whole team is basically just LeBron and AD right now so they have a lot of room to sign players.

Does the drafting team retain your rights beyond the next year's draft?

>Does the drafting team retain your rights beyond the next year's draft?
Explain what you mean by this
You could decide to just fuck off if don't like your drafts prospects, people though zion would do this and go back to duke when the pels got the number 1 pick instead of a big market like the knicks are the lakers

it's a reasonable and responsible take. not fun, not "hot", and not a suck-up to the executives. ramona is a journalist/reporter, not a hot-take merchant.

I mean if the player goes to another league and then wants to come back to the NBA, does the team that drafted him still retain his rights or does that expire by the time the next draft rolls around?

I hate 90% of commentator bitches, but as an LA native I have massive respect for Ramona. And as a Lakers fan, I hate to admit it, but she’s right. It seemed like Dwight was a sure thing to resign back in the day.....and even if we kept him, he would’ve had all those injury problems resurface

yes, players often go to europe for a few years while the drafting team retains their nba rights.

LeBron is still a very good defender when he tries. He just sometimes coasts in the regular season, like literally everyone else. Also he'll will have it much easier on defense with a rim protector like AD(which he's never really had in his career).
I prefer Kyrie, but if he has too much pride to come join LeBron again Kemba is a solid defender as well.

bucks won't keep all their free agents. shocked if the sixers do either. nobody knows what kawhi will do.

AD will get season ending injury in first game or somewhere in mid season.

I have a feeling there will be a big push for player health this season with the KD/Klay injuries and the Raptors winning it all because of their depth.

I like this post

Attached: usa_today_11688425.0.jpg (1200x800, 89K)

Kuzma was the Lakers best young player on the cheapest contract. He stays with the Lakers and somehow the Lakers fucked up the trade? I don't get it.

He’s also the oldest who’s about to hit his ceiling. Meanwhile you just shipped off two top 2 picks and future picks

They need to go get D'Lo back. Magic is the one who traded him and he's planning on leaving the Nets if Kyrie comes so it all makes sense. Unless he's super bitter about being traded I don't know why he would turn down a chance to get maxed out on an LA superteam and be the man alongside AD once LeBron retires. After that, sign D Rose to play shooting guard and call it a day.

THIS. Kuzma is best of lakers youngs.
Still, the fucking elephant in the room is the lakers non-existent front office and coaching.

On paper the lakers should have a much better defense next season, but again, it's kinda worthless when the next coach is Lue and whoever the fuck is the GM.

GM Lebron.

If we're taking from the sport side, yes. The playoffs are RIDICULOUSLY long, that there is a very strong case to be made for significantly shortening the season. But that'll never happen.
You're basically asking a bunch of hedge fund managers to throw away money. That's not gonna happen.
Remember they made a huge fucking deal when team were resting their star players like a week before playoffs, like when the standings are pretty much set. Because of all the ticket buyers and ad people were not getting Lebron playing garbage minutes in a meaningless game.
More games = more money.

Attached: 1560024829113.jpg (500x333, 24K)

Yeah they made out with keeping Kuzma. The picks are irrelevant besides the one this year since they'll make the playoffs. Ingram is good but you have to give someone up and getting rid of Ball is a relief even if he might be good.

Absolutely not. The baby Mavs will stop that from happening.

Picks can be swapped out until Le Bron is 40 or so. Not sure if he will still be playing. AD would probably need to retire since he is becoming an Odin type injury liability.

Hes gonna get a career ending injury this year. cap this.

Good move imo. Zion is their new star of the franchise. Davis nor the fans and organization wanted any part to do with each other. As a Duke fan, I hope barrett somehow ends up there, but he has the Knicks written all over him. I know they got lonzo but Colby White is good as fuck, at least he was at unc. I've heard good things about Garland too.

>winning team
theres your problem

you are not factoring in Space Jam 2: Electric Boogaloo. This will be huge for the lakers title run.

she looks like a 5 11 ugly woman who had 3000 anvil thrown on her and it squished her down to 3 foot 5.

All of them will be high lottery picks

the breakdown has begun. the problem is his gate. His legs are bowed like the azn guy who carried the fishbowl in The Prestige. IT only gets worse from here. But AD just needs a forward and a shooting guard and they will be fine...... once Treybron leaves.

chemestry does not work with stars like lebron. He needs driven scorers. who is that guy available?

>Gonna be interesting to see the details on the Picks LA just gave NOLA. From what I understand the Pelicans didn’t want Lakers FRP next year. But through pick swaps they essentially have control of the Lakers draft for the next 7 years.

OH NO NO NO

good call.

lakers rarely build through draft

The best part of the deal are the picks.

Ingram is terrible
Ball is terrible
Hart is serviceable

The Lakers make this trade 10/10 times

They'll let anyone who's ever touched a basketball on TV into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame (tm)

Lakers got LeBron, Davis, and Kuzma. Now they fill around them with complementary pieces. I'd get a backup point guard and a solid center and some shooters/defenders. Rondo and McGee coming off the bench leading the second unit would be perfect. They don't need another super star. Bench players are solid they need more of those.

that laker protest worked. power of the people remember that /nba/

>mfw LeBrony turns AD into a spot shooter like he did to Chris Bosh and Kevin Love

Pelicans got fleeced

>get Lavar circus
>Ingram will retire early
>those draft picks will be a crapshoot, unless the NBA rigs 1 or 2 for their sake like they did this draft
