the CL has enough shit teams in it as it is
I'd double the winnings and scale down to 16 teams,
next they should pull a Copa America and invite teams from outside of Europe
>England has 16 teams
>Portugal four with the last two having to go through play-offs
It should be
- One club from each league in UEFA qualifies
> No seedings
>Knock out fixtures over two legs from beginning to final.
Sadly, zoomers have ruined football.
Why only one club per league when you can have a single fixture knockout with all teams in europe.
Can we just merge La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1 into one big European league already?
that would be mutt-tier shit garbage and boring to watch
This. Shit quality doesn't matter (cups are supposed to be shit). What matters is not allowing the big teams to dominate.
>a cup competition with nearly 1000 clubs competing...
You absolute madman, that would be impossible to organi-
>...just like the FA Cup
Oh!
One step closer towards World League.
BASED (unironically)
And what language should the players speak? English?
No thank you.
based , you tell those anglo
>What matters is not allowing the big teams to dominate.
>Real Madrid vs. Malmo FF final
>Real Madrid vs. Club Brugge
>Real Madrid vs. Lech Poznan
>Real Madrid vs. Red Star Belgrade
>Real Madrid vs. CSKA Sofia
>Real Madrid vs. Brondby
guess who would win lol
Good for you mate, keep all of that outside interference away from the Uber Eats™ Ligue 1
With final in Beijing at 11 AM UTC
Or it could lead to more kino shitpost games like Legia Warsaw v Borussia Dortmund in CL few years ago
The Madrid vs Warsaw game was Kino, slightly less so due to the fact is was played behind closed doors
Assuming a very generous 95% chance of Real winning each of those fixtures there's a 43% chance they'd lose one of them, which in a knockout competition would be enough, in a group stage, it wouldn't, hence them being utterly tedious.
>And what language should the players speak? English?
No, Arabic.
then why that's written in french?
makes me think m8
Depends, what countries would the extra teams come from? Would it be midtable shit from the same 4 leagues or actual champion teams?
It should be 16
Clubs should be replaced by regional franchises, like Super Rugby
It would be teams that didn't qualify but that TV companies and Asian plastics like
That is a stupid American system.
It would allow teams that don't deserve to be in CL to participate. If anything international football tournaments should cut number of teams, regardless is the tournament for club teams or national teams. Number of teams in European Championship tournament should be cut back to 8 teams like it was until 90's. Champions League should be cut to 16 teams. World cup should be reduced to 24 teams.
With champions league they also should make teams pay for participating and all prize money should be given to the winner, no participation prizes for losers.
>next they should pull a Copa America and invite teams from outside of Europe
Absolutely disgusting.
>super rugby
>american
your stupidity and obsession are boundless.
Awful post
>With champions league they also should make teams pay for participating and all prize money should be given to the winner, no participation prizes for losers.
YES
LET'S MAKE WEAKER CLUBS EVEN WEAKER
Choke on a dick.
>he thinks this is realistic
Wew.

That would drastically reduce interest in the sport outside of a select few countries. Now I'm sure you want to be an elitist about it, but FIFA has always been for spreading the sport to as many countries as possible. This mindset is why countries like Denmark and Greece can win the European Championships. Cricket is going the way you suggested, and the ICC is already receiving flak for cutting the Cricket World Cup from 14 to 10 teams.
>With champions league they also should make teams pay for participating
Enjoy every single team outside of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United pulling out of the CL every year. The rich will constantly get richer. But if that's what you want than you are probably a UEFA exec or something.
>48 teams
>having to suffer through countless APOEL shithole vs Lokomotiv irrelevant matches
fuck
they're only doing this because the top 6 teams in England complaining about 2 of them missing out every year.
You're not European, you're not entitled to an opinion on European competitions.
Here, I fixed the Champions League.
Total teams:
before
>47 + 32 = 79
now
>128
Number of matches total
before
>91 + 125 = 216
now
>253
same number of rounds as now from group stage onwards
no qualifiers taking up half of the summer breaks for worse clubs
no bitching about the number of allocated spots
no pointless group stage that only exists to have guaranteed 6 matches for the big teams and to give them a room for error
>expand until the whole tournament is meaning less and dead
Late Roman decadence
you're thinking short term
currently no sugar daddy billionaire wants to invest in 3rd tier leagues because teams from those countries have to go through several qualifying rounds
He said the regional franchise system is american.
It's as Australian as it is American.
It's Irish if you think about it, doesn't Ireland have one team per county?
You mean one team per province.
Those are only irrelevant when you know Real and Liverpool will be top 2 in their group.
you get a cl spot
you get a cl spot
everybody gets a cl spot
>That would drastically reduce interest in the sport outside of a select few countries. Denmark won their their European championship when tournament had 8 teams.
>The rich will constantly get richer.
It has been that way for long time. One of main causes are European tournaments constantly becoming longer affairs. The money involved in CL and other international games does that to all national leagues in Europe.
>EPL gets 10 spots
>everton still lose in qualifying
i like it
Any actual changes would likely benefit the big clubs who constantly pester the UEFA for a more predictable income. Lower income can be lethal in this insane transfer market. So expect something like factoring of past CL performances on a club level so that clubs can be shit in the league for a season without losing precious money.
>when tournament had 8 teams.
Yeah, up from 4 teams
> So expect something like factoring of past CL performances on a club level so that clubs can be shit in the league for a season without losing precious money.
unironically based, its bullshit that english sides can lose qualification so easily, spurs and liverpool should be in the next 3 years regardless for constituting a final
might as well allow everyone from every league
In the long term, we'll get something like in basketball where there's a Euroleague consisting of permanent members and some invitees and a parallel structure of national leagues. Unless the transfer bubble collapses, but I don't see that happening soon.
>Half the first round will take place in the balkans.
If you thought baku was bad, imagine it 50 times over.
>consisting of permanent members
its what they already wanted to do but all major clubs said fuck that to the UEFA board
that's Gaelic football and county is representative level. There's club championship too.
Because UEFA doesn't pay enough yet.
It's much like the FA Cup has irrelevant matches. That's what a cup is. And it's worth it to stop the big boys getting in every season. RM and Barca getting a huge advantage of the rest of their league by qualifying every time.
If we want good games in the CL, what we should do is make sure every champion getting in is of a good level. The way to do this is to merge a bunch of teams in Europe to give teams financial power. If we had only 16 leagues, we could have a very strong European competition with just the champions.
when the balcans and soviets started to divide, what shouldve been done is introduce more preliminery rounds for the shitters and then there couldve been nearly 10 leagues with an actual shot at the trophy like it always was, instead of just 4, at most
why
It's already hard enough for them
That's why you need to have regional leagues e.g. Netherlands and Belgium. The powers that be are never going to be happy with having to play crap teams so what we have to do is boost the qualifiers from smaller nations.
Ideally, we want a united Europe that has similar levels of prosperity from West to East so that can have 16 leagues of around the same size and quality. We need a European solution to a European problem.
The biggest losers have been larger clubs from smaller countries, such as Brugge, Celtic, Bucharest, Red Star Belgrade etc.
When there was little in the way of TV money, these clubs could compete on the basis of being able to develop or attract reasonable quality talent. Unless you are from one of 5 leagues, you now have no chance, and the system is designed to not only perpetuate it, but to accelarate it.
