Why is no one talking about the huge role that luck played in Mahomes' MVP season? There's absolutely no way he can keep throwing across his body and getting away with it.

Everyone wants to talk about le no look throw!!!! but Mahomes was feasting on the fact that defenses hadn't figured out how to stop the Air Raid yet. He tries that stuff again and he's going to throw a league-high in Pick-Sixes.

never heard of him. would he really get a contract big enough for a 4th?

Last year it was. In the past 2 decades, it has overall been the strongest division in the NFL by overall raw wins. The division isn't competitive with itself primarily because the Patriots are an anomaly and incredible outlier, but they would make any other division similarly look shitty. AFC East being weak is a myth, It is a strong division.

>East being weak is a myth, It is a strong division.
LOL ok dude. The jets were relevant for 2 seasons a decade ago. If they were a strong division they would be getting wildcard spots, not consistently picking in the top half of the draft. Nobody is buying it.

You're retarded. No matter how many times I correct retards like you and actually show you stats from the realignment/Brady era, you're still full of excuses. Wild card spots are not what determine division strength. I broke down every single division and it clearly shows that the AFC East has been one of the strongest divisions. The Patriots themselves are abnormally strong and the rest in the rest in the division are consistently competitive and strong teams that KEEP EACH OTHER out of the playoffs because they're well balanced. There's a huge history of 9/8 win teams in the division, including their 3rd and 4th place teams. The AFC East doesn't have a long history of 4-12 dumpster teams. Generally, even their worst place finishers are 6-10 or 7-9 competitive finishes.

Overall, as a total division, they are strong.

nah bro three shitty teams playing each other twice a year each and trading wins means it is not a shit division.

Then why do those three shitty teams have more raw wins than the rest of the NFL other than the NFC East?

Why don't they get wildcard spots?

because going 6-10 means you are a good team, accordingly.

The following are the win percentages of every division if you take out the percentage of the dominant team
Since realignment:
>NFCE without the Eagles: 0.497
>NFCS without the saints: 0.492
>AFCW without the Broncos: 0.475
>NFCN without the Packers: 0.453431
>AFCN without the Steelers: 0.453429
>AFCE without the Patriots: 0.444
>AFCS without the Colts: 0.441
>NFCW without the Seahawks: 0.429

As you can see, without the dominant team, the AFCE is the third weakest division, behind only the AFCS, which hasn’t sent a team to the superbowl since 2000, and the NFCW, which has 3 perennially bad teams

Attached: 8CC55499-CDF5-46D3-8098-E048DD90A369.jpg (400x242, 31K)

And this means the patriots are, by principal, the team with the third easiest road to a division win in the NFL.
But I will concede that they are much better than the Colts and Seahawks.

I just told you. Both because they often trade wins with each other and have strong intradivision balance(it's rarer in the AFC East to have dumpster teams that the two top dogs feed on to get good playoff spots), and also just some years of bad luck. For example, the 2008 Patriots, who were the only 11 win team to not get a wild card spot since realignment.

Also, you're biased as fuck and don't realize that the AFC East doesn't have that fewer wild cards in the past 20 years compared to other divisions. Yes, they have the least, but it's by literally 2 spots. The average is 8 and they have 6.

So the combination of the Patriots crushing the division(making it harder for them to get wild card spots) and them trading with the other teams in the division means they are often stuck in 7-9 win ranges that just barely keep them out of the playoffs. Whereas a division like the AFCN frequently sees the Steelers and Ravens in the playoffs because the Browns and Bengals are often dumpster fires that go 0-6 or 1-5 in division.

Except that's misleading because what is the "most dominant team" varies by a great deal. If you take the bottom 3 in the division in any given year and take their combined wins, the AFC East is the strongest. If you combine all 4 teams by wins, the AFC East is still the strongest.

For example, removing the Saints doesn't change much because the Panthers are practically equal to them in success. The same is true of the NFCE with the Giants. While you can argue that's evidence that those divisions are more balanced in general(and they are, they're the only two divisions close to/more balanced than the AFCE), the problem is that the Patriots are significantly more dominant than the Saints are in general. As well as every other team on that list. It's not that the Jets/Bills/Dolphins are a lot worse, but that they have to face the Patriots way more often.

>take the bottom 3 teams
See, this is the most misleading stat there is and it’s the reason why this shit was started in the first place.

You need to take the pcts of specific teams to be accurate. In the AFCE the bottom 3 teams are the same every year, except for that time when the patriots lost.
Last year the jaguars won the AFCS. This year they were in 4th place. Last year the Texans were in 4th place. This year they won the AFCS. This is the kind of competitiveness that is lost if you just take the bottom 3 teams.
You’re leaving out the aspect of teams getting better and worse. The colts had a dynasty in the AFCS until the Texans got good. That never happened in the AFCE, but on paper it’s still “stronger” because of the misleading statistics.

Imagine if next year the AFCE got good and the patriots lost out and went 6-10. You would never be able to tell by those statistics because they just show the bottom 3 teams and not who those teams are

>autism

N'Keal Harry finna dab on the NFL

>You need to take the pcts of specific teams to be accurate. In the AFCE the bottom 3 teams are the same every year, except for that time when the patriots lost.
>Last year the jaguars won the AFCS. This year they were in 4th place. Last year the Texans were in 4th place. This year they won the AFCS. This is the kind of competitiveness that is lost if you just take the bottom 3 teams.

But that isn't an indication of balance. That's an indication of representation and a rotation of power. There's a difference. The AFC East has the poorest representation, but it doesn't have the poorest "balance". As evidenced by the fact that despite getting 1st place in division often, the Patriots go 4-2 or 5-1 in division very, very often. They have only ever swept the division once IIRC.

So you can argue teams switch spots and whatever, but that is again just evidence that the Patriots are unusually dominant rather than the Jets/Bills/Dolphins being bad teams. It's not like losing to the Patriots is unique to them. Everyone loses to the Patriots.

You're viewing it as the Patriots not having a true rival in the division that matches them, which is true, but the larger point is that NOBODY in the entire NFL matches the Patriots or matches with them as a rival. Not one team. And the fact that the bottom 3 go even with each other is a GOOD thing. It DOES mean they're more balanced.

You're looking at it like ideal balance means two terrible teams and two playoff teams that give each other trouble, but a division isn't just the two top teams. It's all 4 of them. Having 2 awful teams hanging at the bottom doesn't make your division "better" than the one with one super dominant team and 3 average to above average teams.

Strong divisions win wildcard spots. Period. That's the entire point of having a wildcard playoff spot, a dominant team can't take a great team out of the playoffs. The jets, the dolphins and the bills have fielded 2 playoff teams in the last 10 years.

This isn’t your personal blog faggot

>You're viewing it as the Patriots not having a true rival in the division that matches them, which is true, but the larger point is that NOBODY in the entire NFL matches the Patriots or matches with them as a rival.

Attached: eli-manning.jpg (485x384, 49K)

>Strong divisions win wildcard spots. Period
No. Imbalanced divisions often give wildcard spots to the 2nd place guy in the division. Because a team that goes 3-3 against other balanced team in the divisions finishes at 9 wins where the 5-1 guys feasting on the shitty Browns finish with 10 or 11 wins.

Using wild card spots as an indication of division balance or strength is completely retarded, especially if the 1st and 2nd place guys in the division frequently benefit from feasting on shitty bottom 2 teams.

Attached: old gay.png (640x360, 383K)

Realignment is 16 years, so that's 256 games. The difference between 0.444 and 0453 is ~2.3 games over 16 seasons, or 0.14 games/season. To get even one single game/season of differential win percentage, you have to compare the NFCE/NFCS against the NFCW.

The margins in the middle are so small you might as well call them mostly equivalent.

Attached: Baltipoor1.jpg (1400x1059, 965K)

The patriots are feasting on 3 shitty teams

>The AFC East has the poorest representation, but it doesn't have the poorest "balance". As evidenced by the fact that despite getting 1st place in division often, the Patriots go 4-2 or 5-1 in division very, very often

Also the fact that there hasn't been an NFL game for 4 months and there won't be another game for 3 more months is probably a factot

>The patriots are feasting on 3 shitty teams
False.

>Citing the Pats going 5-1 as evidence that the AFCE is competitive is a joke.
Then let me cite the fact that out of all divisions, they take less wins from within their own division than pretty much any other top team you can think of. Brady losing in Miami isn't just a meme. He's 1-4 in his last 5 appearances there. They also frequently go 4-2, not 5-1. 4-2 is competitive for a #1 placed team where 4.5 wins is the norm. Considering the Patriots have almost never swept the division in 20 years despite their overall 78% winrate is actually astonishing. The Steelers and Colts, on the other hand, have done it several times more despite their significantly inferior overall winrates.

>I am only responding to your walls of text because I am drunk and enjoy the autism.
Which makes it obvious you're too stupid to truly understand anything like balance if 3 sentences is a "wall of text" to you. You're not drunk, you're just stupid. You'd be too stupid to make a good argument even if you weren't drunk.

baste

>pats feasting on weak division
dk about the math proofs all over the thread, but it’s pretty obvious just from postseason wins that the pats aren’t just doing this. I do disagree that Jets fins and bills represent formidable competition though, I’m being qualitative rather than quant here, they’re culture has always been a mess, they can’t hold onto coaches/quarterbacks. The Brady era has “feasted” on the whole fucking league by some measures.
And I fucking hate the pats

you’re both delusional. AFCE isnt exceptionally competitive like one of you argues. They also aren’t only successful due to the 6 games a year they play less than stellar teams. It might just be recent years, but don’t the dolphins have a decent record against the pats?
Anyway it doesn’t matter because 6 was Brady’s last, it was a 20 year run but I look forward to never seeing silly arguments like this again.

>you’re both delusional. AFCE isnt exceptionally competitive like one of you argues
It is competitive, it's just not competitive for the #1 spot because the Patriots shit on absolutely everyone. They would be #1 no matter what division they were in and that's the cold hard truth. The Jets, Dolphins, and Bills get an absolutely unfair rap because of their circumstances. You put those franchises in other divisions like the AFC South, NFC West, NFC East, or NFC North, and you can bet they would have made the playoffs a few more times.

I was never making the argument that they're amazing teams, just that they're both competitive with each other and in comparison to the rest of the league they're actually quite good. The circumstances behind Patriot dominance make those teams look weaker than they are and being in the same division as an abnormally, uniquely strong team like the Patriots has negatively affected all of those teams.

If the Patriots were in the AFC North instead of, say, the Ravens, the entire division would look like a complete fucking joke just like the AFC East does, and for the exact same reasons.

>Post season bye week from weak division bullying
>Their success is unexplainable!

Belichick is an amazing coach for real though. He will switch his defenses up to scheme against offenses that had trouble with specific formations and plays. While making sure his offense controls the ball with good field position.

It doesn't matter what happened the entire game, in fact it just means you could possibly run better late in the game because their run d would be more exhuasted

You at least run the ball on first down if not twice in a row if you dont lose yardage. it was retarded.

Nothing I like more than dead Jew Yorkers

after it happened i thought it was retarded but what about chris matthews getting thrown into the gameplan and getting all those catches that was genius from Seattle and just remember how they got to the goal line with a lucky circus catch

You seem to be under the impression that Roger Goodell gives a shit about evidence, finding out what exactly happened, or justice. He does not. He does what the owners tell him to do and or what will get the league good PR. The NFL has suspended and gone to court over lesser offenses with little to no evidence. Hill is going to eat a suspension its just a matter of time.

Is he a Cox/Graham babby?

They have a lot of depth at the position. Gilmore is a lockdown #1, they have J. McCourty for another year on a cheap contract. Jones is a solid #3, he could honestly be a #2 and chances are another team would overpay him to be just that. Beyond him they have a 3rd round pick from last year, and a 2nd rounder from this year. I might be leaving someone out. But with 3 good sateties + CB depth the pats have a lot of guys they can rotate for matchup reasons.

Gonna need a source on that one.

this is right it is chiefs

Have you tried going around them?

Probably Tyreek. But i wouldn't call him elite

he put an elite WR and a great WR
I assume tyreek would be the elite one, then who would be the great?

Watkins? Who is close to great when healthy, but that's like 4 games a season.

That should have been good WR and Elite WR.

Also I fucked up on the oline a bit I'm kinda drunk

Ya I meant to make Watkins good not great he'd be great if he's healthy but rn it's just good flash in pan before injury

its a joke

Hey /nfl/, word on the street is that the Buffalo Bills will win the superbowl in the 2020 season. Is this true?

They'll find a way to swindle Mark Davis out of the Raiders. He's strapped for cash and the new stadium is basically all on credit. The Fertittas will find a way to delay the stadiums completion, therefore cutting off cash flow, then either get a partial ownership or get the entire thing.

Another option is the Bills

No, the cake is just extra tasty right now

The Bills owner just purchased them relatively recently and is very attached financially to the city of Buffalo. Why would he sell?

The stadium funding issues could bring everything to a head. It's unlikely, but can't be ruled out completely.

why do that when they can wait for the move to underperform financially, Davis to go bankrut, and then buy it off BoA for pennies?

Also the Pagulas and Fertittas have mob ties, so who know what part something like that could play. Again, unlikely, but who knows how everything shakes out. St Louis out up 400m of public money and still lost a team. Buffalo probably isn't going to put up any.

They could so that too, but stepping in early gives them more of a foothold than the Raiders going up for sale and having to compete with other billionaires.

Assuming he was willing to sign a contract to do so would it be legal to keep tyreek hill in a cage during the offseason?

Assuming you're asking this question semi seriously, no. Contracts that violate US law are unenforceable. It's the same reason that places like rehab can't force you to stay even though it's often in the patient's best interest.

A cute.

Fuckin 13th amendment

nah lol

There's no chance in hell Kraft sells the Patriots. Not only is he happy owning the team, the players in the organization are very happy with him as an owner. Hell, even New England for the most part loves him because he prevented the Patriots from moving and went all in on them during a time where they sucked ass and Tom Brady wasn't a thing yet.

Kraft will own the Patriots until at least Brady and Belichick are both gone, and possibly until he dies or is at death's door.

eagles?

Steelers?

Eagles?

Did the Eagles draft a linebacker this year?

What is going on with the Cincinnati Bengals? They're not terrible, but not good either, I don't see them making the playoffs anytime soon. They haven't accumulated any draft picks, they don't have a lot of cap space, and they haven't been collecting any great rookie prospects. It seems like they should be in a rebuild, but they aren't. Its like they want to be perpetually mediocre

two actually, Joey Alfieri and T.J. Edwards

Terrible guess

Gotta be the steelers I guess

NFCE division games are always a shit show, so I would never say those results are set in stone. But trade the L against the Falcons for one of the Pats or Seahawks, and I agree with what you have. Somewhere between 10 and 13 wins (inclusive) makes sense.

>undrafted free agents getting in the season starting line up

Only team to not win the division since the realignment are the Bills, Browns and Lions. Wow. The Bills have a tiny bit of an excuse but no one else does.

Also how did the Bungles win 4 division titles? In a division that should have good teams in the Steelers and Ravens how was that many wins allowed from that trash team?

Teams with only 1 division title? Raiders and Jags.

Lets make sure to laugh at those teams once more!

My bad, I only looked at one website that said they were draft picks. I'm not all that familiar with the eagles offseason

Ironically the only 2 teams I'd be afraid to see the Bears playing in the post season is the Cowboys and Patriots.

Objective Top 32 QBs in the NFL, current list but history plays a factor.

1. Tom Brady
2. Drew Brees
3. Aaron Rodgers
4. Russell Wilson
5. Ben Roethlisberger
6. Philip Rivers
7. Matt Ryan
8. Patrick Mahomes
9. Andrew Luck
10. Cam Newton
11. Carson Wentz
12. Deshaun Watson
13. Matthew Stafford
14. Derek Carr
15. Baker Mayfield
16. Dak Prescott
17. Jared Goff
18. Kirk Cousins
19. Nick Foles
20. Jimmy Garoppolo
21. Andy Dalton
22. Mitch Trubisky
23. Lamar Jackson

25. Marcus Mariota
26. Tyrod Taylor
27. Jameis Winston

29. Josh Rosen

>green gay at 3
heebie jeebies!

>elite mahomes below Rapistburger, 28-3, playclock at 5 and le 9 kids man
You need to go back

trip up bradyknee

As a Bears fan making this list I'm glad that Rodgers being at 3 is more accepted but I still have him and Brees essentially tied, Brees' age being the main reason.

Mahomes would be number one if history didn't play a factor. Dude only played one full season.

>le one season makes you the greatest QB man

lmao try not too fall off too hard patrick

It's almost as if one season doesn't mean anything!

Tanehill deserves to be higher. He's better than Winston and Mariotta

not a bad list desu senpai

He's a backup for Mariota currently

Only due to circumstance. He's a better QB than Mariotta and will start over him this season eventually.

Wilson has not lost to the Eagles even with a roster of literal whos

>Muttholms

>cuckboys
>a threat
ahahahahahahahaha

I'd say it's due to Tannehill inefficiency as a starter now combined with potential to be injury prone.

The cowboys won a playoff game
The bears did not
Therefore

Sorry to go against the memes again but they are.

Pederson owns Nagy, but the cuckboys eking out a win over the seahawks was not impressive.
How?

>eking out a win
They dominated the whole game, the Seahawks got a lucky touchdown at the very end that made it look close.

Where's Nathan Peterman?

Arguable, I guess. Doesn't change the fact that Seattle and Dallass were the two weakest teams in the NFC and probably then entire playoffs.

>implying the Bears wouldn’t have gotten bootyblasted by the saints or rams on the road
You can look really good when all of your hard games are at home

Wilson also threw less than 10 times going into the 4th quarter. He would have torn the Cowgirl's horrid secondary to shreds

I'm not implying that, and I'm not at all a bears fan. I don't know what the result would have been in those situations. I could see them beating the rams but losing in the dome.
Anyway, the cowboys were not serious contenders last year, and there's no reason to think they will be this year.

Classic Pete Carroll, overthinking things. Like, MemeVay overthinks things and gets caught up in trying to be fancy, but Carroll goes a step further, full circle back to over-simplicity.

somewhere in the negatives

Lol cowboys secondary is absolutely underrated. They performed well all year

Packers will win the Super Bowl this season. Screen cap this.

>underrated
Look at Wilson's stats for that game in his limited throws.

>iggles
>paper-thin secondary
>stacked O-line
>13-3
>Wentz v Mahomes

Defensively have probably the best LB unit in the league paired with a good secondary and great dlinemen. Offensively they have one of the best RBs and Offensive Linemen plus with Dak and Amari's chemistry, and now Cobb added in they can't bail out to stop Zeke. Cowboys also won their division 2 of the last 3 seasons as well as getting valuable playoff experience last year, I don't think they're going to be an easy team to push around like the memes here suggest.

you are correct

please name me 10 better thats to me is great top 5 is elite

>implying consistently winning games and your division makes you great

When will NFL begin ameribros?

Usually the first week of September is when regular season starts. Pre Season starts first week of August

Will Azerbaijan ever get an NFL team?

Not soon enough

>NYJ: Jets GM targeting McShay for front office job
please do. I'd much rather have this guy fuck off from draft coverage than based Jeremiah

So Jalen and Yannick are gone next year yeah? Jags have fuck all cap space

gib rangy physical corner

>Raiders for hard knocks
kind of wanted 49ers tbqh
stop it bill, >we have enough corners

>best LB unit
LVE is good, but the others are very overrated.
>great dlinemen
Also overrated, and not deep
>best RB
Volume/o-line babby
>Offensive Linemen
Quickly deteriorating
>Dak and Amari's chemistry
Dak is shit, Amari is not elite
>Cobb
He ~was~ good, at one point
>won their division
And did nothing at all in the playoffs. And they got pretty lucky last year that the Eagles got killed by injuries.
In all, they seem pretty mediocre.

Based as fuck. This offensive league is starting to annoy me. Pure faggotry

The NFL made the right choice for a change.

Does anyone actually watch that shit?

I think it's more fun to see all the offense based meme teams die out in the post season.

I'll be checking it out this year

just what antonio brown needs. a camera crew

i watched last years, but none others

who wants to be a raider

Yo
so are the raiders cursed now too?

14 out of 22 playoff performances this year were 20 points or higher
5 out of 22 were 30 points or higher
seems like its balanced between offense and defense

too obvious of a choice
raider drama kept us from seeing the fat pat lions

Keep your fat grubby hands out of our front office you fat fucks

Antonio Brown and Vontaze Burfict

>so are the raiders cursed now too?
Haven't they been cursed for a while? If 16 didn't happen, you guys would be Browns tier in terms of w/l ratio.

Come on user, give Jared Goff more respect than that. He's clearly a top 10 quarterback

yeah, playoffs
But all regular season everyone kept hyping the new offensive era meme

I think they just have the curse of the second round draft to worry about, but I hear hard knocks is just bad luck for a team

You could maybe swap him and Cam, but I couldn't put him above anyone else in the top 10

This.

>implying
absolutely fucking not
that list isn't great but goff is not a top 10 qb

Attached: disdain.jpg (400x462, 26K)

What is his ceiling?

Attached: hockenson.jpg (1000x600, 178K)

Is Jack Kearney still the team Fixer?

this season was the highest in several offense averages. It isnt like we secretly arent in an era of passing
