First off, V6 sucks and doesn't give nearly enough design liberty. Teams should be able to design whatever engine they want, as long as it fits inside a predefined box (both minimum and maximum dimensions), weighs a predefined amount and has a maximum output of 1000hp in qualy trim and 800hp in race trim, 200 hp of which can be electric and possibly even AWD. To fix aero, the main problem is that cars will always make dirty aero no matter how you make the rules for the front wings and such, so you just have to give the car behind a decisive advantage to counter. That means two stage DRS: one part is completely driver controlled from a 2 second gap, no matter the track position, and the other is an automated part on certain long straights as is used right now (but obviously less extreme).
As someone who has done design work on a CF monocoque before, who has seen F1 monocoques, and the kind of abuse they have stood up to with the driver just strolling out: they can already handle pedestrian impacts at 200+kph.

you have 0 (zero) evidence for the straight line advantage/power meme. there are no dyno figures for either engine. merc has dominated on every track so far including power tracks, and only slipped up on bahrain due to a bad setup. the incidente suspension and lack of downforce also suggests that the ferrari is down on power, as theyre doing everything they can to reduce drag. downforce=drag. the merc has more downforce and is still noticeably faster on every track. suggests to me that merc has more power. but now they show up with a new pu and the gap got smaller. i think they were pulling too much bullshit with their pu even for the fiamg to turn a blind eye, and got quietly nerfed
