I think eccentricity is basically the "tendency to rush out" attribute. if you have a guy with 1, he's going to pretty much stay on his line even if you set him as sweeper-keeper(attack)

lost the final 2-2 as Distillery (via penalties) and then realised it's rather boring. Had I won, I would have been in the Euro Cup despite being bottom division Northern Ireland team. This is because the difference between bottom and top is really fucking minor. So I quit. It was made easier due to the shit Brexit rules and how all my good regens I signed were fucking off. Not to mention, it'd take me 30-40 years in game to get any good infrastructure up.
So, back to my Telstar game. With 100% league performance. I have no idea how to improve this team any more, but my free signings are doing OK.

Eh he'll improve enough to be worth it if your coaches are good.
Daniel Phillips
These are the two regens I signed. Striker is decent already while AMC is eh. But hopefully will improve. Interestingly when I signed them they auto went into my Reserves, so I put them in U19 and will keep them there. All my U19 players are currently random made up fillers, hopefully when my intake comes in they're good enough.
Just realised my Youth Team has better quality training than my main one or reserves. So I need to keep them there. Unless there is an advantage for them being in Reserve? Youth Team wise I have minimum 3* training in every area.

>player has featured in 12/13 league games plus 7 cup games and started almost all of them >"I'm going to leave the club if I don't get more first-team playing time" Is this a bug or did SI just turn the bitchiness of everyone in 19 up to max level?
Christopher Hall

The issue? This:
>Below Average Youth Training Facilities >Below Average Training Facilities
However it also says >Excellent Junior Coaching >Extensive Youth Recruitment
Then what the fuck did I improve with Junior Budget? My U19 team is literally two regens I signed and the rest are generic shit. So, how does this work? I'm just making sure my Junior Coaching remains Excellent or can it go higher? I honestly don't play big teams so I dunno what the highest is.
David Parker
why are my 2 CB's in such terrible positions? Is it just a consequence of using a Half-Back? (#9)

Spot playing risky football. It worked because the opposition was more open to being countered. Now they're likely playing more conservatively, and your gegenpress is getting exposed.

The AMR will have a penalty in his Decisions. Most of the time it doesn't matter unless he's terminally retarded... but then he's a winger so they're all idiots anyway.
There's actually a shitton of variables iirc, varying from no Brexit, through soft stuff like no permits needed, to full-on hard 'permits for everybody' My Brexit was on the harder side, with everyone requiring permits including players prolonging contracts, excluding the Irish
Oliver Morales
1. No change, Contineentuools are still allowed 2. No permits needed. 3. Limits, min 8k per non-UK lads (I think Ireland is also included under UK) 4. Permits for everybody, including the Irish
I think Miles said there is 'thousands' of Brexit variations in FM18 so I assume the same in FM19 with some on the more common side. I have, so far, mostly seen the '£8k minimum per non-UK/Irish players'
Brayden Rodriguez
do midfielders only pass back to the CBs if they're ball playing defenders or something? I swear half the time I get scored on it's a meme counter because my DM keeps recoiling back and back until he gives up possession instead of passing 5 fucking meters back to the open CB
Caleb Russell
Well there's also the .1% chances of other UK countries not following the same rules, including Scotland breaking off. But these are really around the .1% mark, so they never happen. In the first FM they introduced Brexit in, Scotland was at something like 3% chances of not following the ruling, so while rare it was still feasible once every thousands saves or so.
FM's ME is absolute garbage at recycling possession. Defenders under pressure almost never pass to the keeper as well, which makes zero sense. That's why having a decent DLP (either duty) in the DM slot solves so many issues... and allows you to recycle possession infinitely since STs barely ever press the DMs unless STs are instructed to man-mark their DM.
Caleb Brooks

Jose Edwards
Can I also be a club owner in this game? It is it just manager related like the fifa career modes
Landon Hall
It's called Football Manager, not Football Chairman. People keep suggesting that SI should consider that, but it's so fucking boring since the board does nothing aside from trying to screw the manager up, so there's no point.
Jacob Torres
In fairness, you do get pretty significant influence in managing the finances of the club, pushing the board to improve facilities, youth intake, etc.
Why you'd want to be any more involved at the board level is beyond me, though.
Jaxson Anderson
>Why you'd want to be any more involved at the board level is beyond me, though I do have a thing in mind.
you could turn FM into "board liaison simulator 19" I guess >turn all training/tactics over to your assman >turn all transfer/contract work to your DoF >focus on appealing to the board for better facilities, and pressing the spacebar
Samuel Ward
that's pretty much Zidane minus the facilities thing
Nolan Hernandez
That would be an extremely dull mode on its own. If anything they should just include that functionality, maybe involve the manager's own funds somehow since your salary is meaningless
Jackson Martinez
>since your salary is meaningless job security is a factor for managers, I imagine higher salaries and bigger contracts make it harder for the board to fire you
Is it? I always take the lowest possible salary and I've never been fired because of it, though I've also never managed below 3 tiers down so maybe it's different. If you're at a top club you can be making $100k/wk+ and if investing in other clubs was an option it would actually give people a reason to negotiate higher pay instead of taking peanuts and putting that money towards other staff
Eli Wright
Various games really, JRPGs though been playing less because of lack of time, some platformers, Dynasty Warriors type games but wary of the grind, and visual novels like in the picture. I actually haven't played FM for some time since packing for moving home and after moving home. Not sure whether to install FM2010 and/or 2011, start a new FM13 save after the Spanish Hero achievement failed to unlock, continue my Scottish Hero FM16 save, or start a new FM16 save with Afrika (Iceland) recruiting only Africans as league rules allow.
the biggest problem with the game is when the game becomes 90% regens and they all have the same attribute allocation and positions. advanced forward, winger, central defender, full back. no treqs/f9s/inside forwards/attacking full backs.
Cameron Brooks
under board confidence or something there's a job security factor, mine is low and it says something like 'your salary isn't too high so you're very easy to fire'
Luis Hill
it's Board > confidence > club issues > job value
Julian Rogers
Sure, I've just never experienced and can't imagine a situation where you'd get fired for having a low salary despite good results or get saved by having a high salary despite shit results

Henry Hill
Errr, lads. I've not done it yet in this game, but is it possible for individual players to tutor other ones? There is a Mentoring section in the Training but it seems like I have to put players into squads and shit... My regen is similar to one of my senior players and that usually means good tutoring shit but can't find it any more.
Leo Miller
You'll never get fired for having a low salary, but depending on the club's financial state, they absolutely will be quicker to fire you if they can afford to pay off the rest of your contract.
does the golden shoe take in account cups and european competitions? My belgian wonderkid is ahead of Belotti, CR7, Lewa etc so far but most of his goals came against farmers in the EL groups
Parker Turner
That's the thing, the regen I signed is 16 and since he isn't in the senior squad, I cannot get him signed. Even if I put him in the senior squad and make him available for other games (and I don't want to do this as U19 has better training than First Team) he doesn't appear in the list or the auto.
It really sucks.
Nathaniel Johnson
The way the editor knocks attributes down is kind of vague. If you put in attributes for a 190 CA player but you set him to 120 CA, he'll just be a 120 CA player in the game and no one who's playing would be able to tell. But if you only set a few attributes and everything else is zeroed out it builds everything else around that, no matter how dumb the attributes are.
Christopher Sanders
What triggers you the most when you see someones shit tactic? For me, it's when I see over 10 instructions and wingers with normal wing-backs.
>high defensive line >no DM, most """defensive"""-minded CM is a BWM-s >"why do my players keep getting sent off?"
Xavier Miller
nothing wrong with a high defensive line my man.
Joshua James
The only thing correct about this is BWMs getting sent off. Neither the high line or having a DM have anything to do with players getting booked.
Jaxon Morales
the usual answer is "somebody on the database team sneaked it in and nobody noticed"
it used to happen a lot up until something like fm14-ish - basically a researcher would min-max the CA system, typically at some shitty level, and nobody would find out until it was too late and even then maybe not. the short description of how CA maps over to attributes is that each attribute is weighted depending on a player's position, and each point costs a certain number of points of CA
so basically you'd do a few of a number of things: a) stack all the points into attributes that would have a disproportionate effect at low levels once you get past a certain threshold (usually acceleration and pace) b) take away points from high-cost areas that don't matter as much (usually technicals) c) put a ton of points into 'free'/cheap areas as far as CA is concerned, which was generally either 1) something like e.g. a defender with great passing ability or 2) set pieces
these guys were super-common back then, the thread term for them (because everyone was doing lower-league management back then) was just 'cheese players'. Omar Koroma and Jamil Adam were two of the more notable ones
they've cracked down hard on it in general since someone exposed how the attribute weighting system worked publically (and hence exposed how you could do something like this). but there are e.g. still guys in the database with weird stat distributions that mean they punch above their weight, and set pieces are often that. like this guy from fm17, has 20 CA (i.e. complete trash) and is an amateur for instance. but look at his attributes (his 'recommended CA' is 99 in the editor so i think his stats would immediately drop like a rock in-game but still)
i don't know exactly what happened in your case though, he looks normal on 17 and 19 (and seems pretty standard on my save). so it might be some bad reaction with an editor file (default or otherwise) or it might be the game straight-out glitching

Connor Ramirez
Just absolutely bottled promotion. Let a 8 point lead with 6 matches left slip and lost out by a point. I think I have to delete this save in order to get the taste out of my mouth.
Parker Perry
To be fair, people do this because tactics don't matter 90% of the time because your squad is either too god to fail or the AI underestimates your reputation and stops trying to play football. Rarely in FM do tactics actually matter.
Bentley Morales
It's just an indescribably great feeling when your players perfectly follow your tactical instructions and score a goal just the way you envisioned or planned it. I hope it happens to me some day

Here are the two options how VAR works in FM19 when goals are scored:
A) Goal is scored, players start tracking back to the positions to restart the game after the goal, "what's this, the referee is going for a VAR review!!" - ref spends about 30 seconds reviewing then gives the goal, always
B) Goal is scored, "VAR review" happens, goal is overturned after literally 5-10 seconds
So predictable, it is clear to me that FM19's implementation of VAR is not a real thing it's just an animation added on top of the game
Ethan Gomez
This is such a pointless addition, I guess it's good for flavour but unlike irl, the game can't make a wrong decision that rerunning the algorithm will fix - it'll always be as accurate as possible because it's a computer program running numbers, and not a living, not-omnipotent ref with fallible eyes
Parker Clark
I know what you mean but it was always gonna be a silly addition, the game obviously knows if it was actually a goal or not the second the ball goes in as opposed to real life where it does require review before anyone can be absolutely certain. By definition of the fact that it is a virtual simulation it was always going to be merely cosmetic.
David Clark
Well, technically the game can make a wrong decision on purpose, and then use the VAR mechanic to 'overturn' it - just like there are all those 'controversial decisions' like penalties and whatnot that you get asked about during press conferences. It would be absolutely dumb, because it would introduce a purely RNG factor into the whole thing, especially in non-VAR leagues, but it is a possibility, and without access to the source code we can't know for certain. (there was a manager game in early 2000s that had a bribe system, buying the CL final from ManU for $10M - now that's realism)
Angel Nguyen
The only way to have VAR around is by making it random. A bit like how occasionally a goal is scored then ruled out for offside afterwards.
the problem is that from my point of view and experience playing the game the outcome can always be guessed from the animations or the duration of the check. If the VAR would, after reviewing the goal as the players walk back, occasionally rule the goal out I'd be fine with it.
In my experience whenever a goal is scored, players walk back, the ref occasionally does a VAR check at the middle line - every time 100% guaranteed the goal is allowed to stand. If it was like random where sometimes VAR rules it out and sometimes it stands (like real life) that'd be fine, with me
Gavin Brown
Tbf FM has always had issues with tipping its hand on disallowed goals like that even going back to CM days. I remember when it was text commentary only, no visible match engine, I think CM 00/01, and the text for a goal scored just wouldn't flash when the goal was going to be disallowed shortly after.

In hindsight, this could have easily ended 5 or 6 to nothing. Their goalkeeper was amazing, saving a penalty and all (my players always seem to miss penalties, despite having 18 finishing and 15 in PKs)
While Eden is on the verge of being knocked out, his brother scored two goals, bringing Gladbach closer to the final.

If having 19 heading meant you'd get the header on target/in the goal most of the time, then it'd work for free kicks and finishing etc. Sadly it's not worth it. The player is Carl Valeri btw. There are several others I know that.

Fuck's sake that drives me crazy
Henry Sanders
Depends how good his Off The Ball and Pace/Acc are. OTOH, I had an unit with 19 Finishing, 19 JR but 14 Heading (after years of trying to improve it). Not only FM has that weird winger to winger connection going on where your wingers always cross at the far post; but considering he also has absurd Strength, it was a lot more worth it to put the ball in his feet than trying to get him to score goals. However, even with "decent" Heading, being tall and strong allows you to win the hoofs from your keepers or defenders and move up the pitch quickly. Just not good enough to actually score headers.
Connor Price
I personally have always rated having high jumping + heading from CM/DM/AMC's because hoofs from GK and defenders can be won in the midfield and headed onto wingers/FW's or safely back into possession. It's very rare to find a tall midfield with good jumping and heading. If you find one, nice. Add speed into it and you're golden but those are usually 2025+ regens from the first French/Brazil/Argentina lads.
Lucas Garcia
Is it wrong to put a worse freekick taker to do Deep/Wide when your main freekick taker is likely more use in their normal position to receive the ball? I also put the worse taker on the opposite side to their feet because who cares. I think it allows my players who play further up the pitch to have for of an effect on the game. Whilst this person is used further back down the pitch and has good passing anyway to combine with the worse freekick, so if the ball is lost they might get it back and so on.
Parker Sanders
Anyone ever buy a shitter from a low division club for a ton of money just to see how they do?
Daniel Barnes
yeah, I usually do something like that, unless I have an outrageously good set piece specialist that I want in charge of everything. I also like to try to have guys with decent crossing take corners/wide FKs since the ball gets passed back to them fairly often, like when the ME decides to execute one of its braindead short free kick routines

For some reasons I don't score many corners now to actual headers. All that stat is bad. Aiming at Best Header also doesn't work because it doesn't do it anyway and if it did I'm sure it'd ignore height and jump, bravery and aggression an just put it to your best header (and you hope that it just so happens to be a good header).

So now I'm just going through a wiki page of "Companies in Carmarthenshire" and making advertising hoardings for the Carmarthen Journal and Evan Evans Brewery
Elijah Fisher
sounds comfy >tfw you go through all that effort and then your save corrupts or you just lose interest

Would have finished third anyway on goal difference, but shithole Poland equalizing in the last minute to bump me down to fourth really spoils my mojo.
One obvious suggestion is a 3 centre back formation.
What roles are your other midfielders? If you're playing with wingbacks there should be two in the middle on defensive roles. You want to try and make a box of 4 with your CBs and DMs. One DM on D, one on S, but a defensive role; he shouldn't be doing anything too attacking, just providing numbers during attacks.
Grayson Perez
This is actually pretty cool, I wish I had that much creativity.
Joshua Ward
I play a 4-3-3. 1 anchor man, 1 bbm and 1 apm

It means nothing without your tactis. Post them when you're home so that we can ridicule your choices.

Hate how taxes and shareholder payouts force you to spend high every season. $140m went out the window this season just because I offloaded some older players

Let's take a moment to remember the true GOAT of FM regens.
why does pep do so badly, and mouyes so well, in FM19? pep's already been sacked from the city job in season 2, meanwhile man u are top of the league and mou just signed hazard and is now going after kane???
Charles Davis
Very impressive, user. Glad you are enjoying yourself
Jackson Moore
I play fighting games, but I also go to school now so I don't have a lot of time for games anymore in general; fm is still pretty much the only game that I play
Brody Moore
FM is made primarily for man utd and arsenal supporters
Lincoln Kelly
how the fuck do I avoid this crap? I'm tiredof these faggots
is this 17? I recall it being an absolute ballache in that version. there's no good answer, but keeping good relationships with your players in general will help smooth out the bumps. that way you can afford to let a couple of players remain S E E T H I N G for a few months until they chill out without your whole team falling apart in 19 it's less painful since about 60% of the time the player either won't make a big deal of it or can be talked down by your captain bonus round: only use u20s as backup players so if they bitch they'll likely agree to going out on loan for a year
Caleb Reyes
I don't know, in my FM2018 save he actually won the league and the champions league which surprised me since he's almost always fired.
Joshua Hill
Why are my clubs finances so shit? I've just been given a big transfer budget and my wages are in control by a big margin. But for some reason the overall balance is horrific, I can't go on coaching courses, upgrade my poor facilities. But I can sign 4 new star players for my team on £500/week if need be. Explain please as on finances nothing is out of the ordinary.
He's not unsettled, and I just bought him because I was bored. I'm waiting for Kane's retirement before starting a new career in the same save.
Lincoln Davis
>tfw when i buy Luka Jovic for 20 mil cause no one knows who the fuck he is at the moment
Joseph Butler
whats the best way to counter a bus parking team?
Jack Hill
there's probably a few different approaches, but I'd say maximum width and make sure you have a good corner kick taker on the field I usually favour somewhat short passing at a moderate tempo so that we can keep the ball and tire them out/draw bookings, rather than hoofing it into the box. having a fast midfielder in a holding role and/or fast CBs helps too since basically all of their attacks will be counterattacks
Angel Taylor
>enraged and refusing to talk to me for the better part of a year because I wouldn't let him join [insert flavour of the month big english club here] >forgets about it during a lull in transfer activity >trick him into signing a new contract with no release clause I have no doubt he'll refuse to speak to me for the next 3 years starting with the next transfer deadline day, but he keeps performing so maybe it doesn't matter
Extremely high tempo, extremely high pressing, tons of rotational movement, and high risk passing.
Just slow possession football does not work because a good team will always be able to shift to their defensive position before an opening can be played through, that's why the key is to force space to be created by off the ball movement. When that space is created, you want to attack it as fast and as effective as you possibly can. If you attack too slow the opposition team will be able to recover to their optimal positions before you can actually start to utilize it.
This is a good video that shows well how effective off the ball movement can create space. The principles are the same when you are facing a side on it's own penalty box, generally the space is smaller at that position though which is why you want to already be quick on the ball earlier.
You cannot really do this in FM though which is shit.
Jace Carter
If coaching staff, with badges. If other staff, they don't anymore; or at the very least at snail's pace. SI broke it circa FM17 or something.
Jack Powell
And Messi won the Ballon d'Or, Ronaldo had a bad year all around
Whats up with teams getting relegated faster than usual? Liverpool in my save went from champions to going down within 6 years. They went down after finishing 7th previous season. Same happened with Crystal Palace, they won the europa league then went down in 4 years after finishing 7th too. Is it just bad contracts and management accelerated by fm?
Has anyone actually experienced a player gotten a 6+game ban for hitting an official( think it was either that or violent conduct that bans a player for that long). Never had more that the normal 3 game ban in my 20+ seasons playing.
I recall a couple of years back seeing Miles saying it was very rare now because previously it happened a little too much and I'd certainly bet they have hardcoded it to only happen for regens since Miles forever seems to fear litigation from real players acting up even slightly in a simulation but yeah I haven't seen it since about FM13.
Michael Butler
I think it's time miles introduce us to women's football

I find it funny how Mike / SI are always virtue signalling and adding useless "progressive" things like gay regens and rainbow flags but won't bother with women's football as it would cost too much time, effort and money.
Lucas Ramirez
that would require actual effort, whereas gay regens is super easy
Luke Thomas
It's a simple Jewish trick: making more money with virtue signalling while chickening out of other issues that would require a lot of expenses.
I don't think its insane at all. rainbow flags and gay regens takes maybe a few days at most if you including testing and looks good PR wise while researching and coding in at least a dozen women's leagues to actually make a halfway decent women's db is months of work for something 90% of player's won't give a fuck about. Simply not cost beneficial.
Also Mike has said something before about women's leagues mostly not being profitable in real life so the finances for the women's leagues would have to be fucky in game and just get frequent random sugar daddying/over inflated prizes which (he didn't say this bit) would lack realism and probably cause people to kick off because you know how dickheads get upset about prize money in women's football as it is. So you can imagine the shitstorm Mike would be brewing if his simulation which he boasts has fantastic realism is suddenly pretending women's prize money is much more than it actually is. It'd make the introduction of women's football backfire rapidly on him as well as being expensive to introduce in the first place.
Aaron Rogers
17 is a shit show :(
Charles Cruz
What does this mean? He wants to leave and and they want him
>months of work for something 90% of player's won't give a fuck about. Simply not cost beneficial. To be fair, 90% of the playerbase don't give a fuck about any of the leagues outside of the EPL.
Isaiah Taylor
This lad has barely clocked in under 9.0 in the training reports with multiple tens, how good is he gonna be lads?
Knocking ball past opponents isn't that great for good dribblers right?
Jeremiah Diaz
Sure but there the hardwork has already been done so now they just have to maintain it. They just have to scout new players coming in to the leagues and even then they can afford to get them vastly wrong because 99% of people won't know any better since the players are almost certain to be virtual unknowns either due to being very young or being from/moving in to a tiny league. With women's football they'll have to scout every single player across a number of leagues and will defintiely get called out if they get the big ones wrong in NWSL and so on because it'd be virtually the women's equivalent of getting entire teams of players in La Liga or EPL rated so incorrectly as to make it worthless.
Joshua Green
Not too useful if they're competent at dribbling, but if he's a pacey boi he'll make it work anyway.
Brandon Ortiz
Help me pick lads, Nice or Saint-Etienne for a Ligue1 save?
Ryder Smith
Lyon is a more relevant rival to St-Étienne than Marseille or Monaco are to Nice.
Justin Nguyen
They have already made a perfectly fine match engine for women's football. The question is whether they can make a decent men's football match engine.
Adrian Wilson
I might be going brainlet mode but how is that meant to help my decision?
James Allen
Thanks bros. I lost to Inter when they parked the bus in the champions. It seems by the end of the season teams figured out my slow possession game and my old team really couldnt deal with fast counters.
Sebastian Hall
>umtiti wants to leave >dont let him >teammates hate that i didnt let him leave >let him leave >teammates are pissed i let him leave
how do i make it right lads?
Michael Hughes
St-Étienne has an interesting rivalry with another Ligue 1 club, Nice doesn't.
Adrian Cox
You don't. You tell players to go fuck themselves, you decide who stays and who leaves.
Jason Howard
does anyone on this earth actually consistently use a Segundo Volante?
Benjamin Robinson
>Segundo Volante I did use on fm16. It was a 5-3-2 (2 Volantes and 1 CM). I was very successful on the brasileirao.
Liam Thomas
yeah, it's probably a good idea to have at least one tictac set up to play at a reasonably high (but not ultra-high) tempo. just make sure your players are familiar with it before deploying in a big game, otherwise you'll probably get a lot of stupid passes and losses of possession.
>he easiest team we could have gotten You mean FM's Tottenham isn't prone to bottling?
Dominic Carter
I guess they're more powerful the farther they are from a final. they'd be a great draw for the semis or final where they'll inevitably fold
Adrian Jenkins
Lads, lads, LADS. I'm currently STILL 100% win record for my Telstar game, I just won the Semi-Final by Gioda, the guy I signed on a free amateur contract scoring a 10 yard header against Utrecht. My best striker, I signed on a free, is currently on 35 goals and 10 assists in 32 games (granted, 7 were penalties). Hilarious thing is Dick Advocatt said I was lucky in his press conference, only to go on and say I fully deserved to win and shit. Weird shit. Anyway, I'm likely to play Az Alkmaar in the Final, any advice on what player I should look out for? Their best player is RB, performance wise, plus DM. They should easily beat me but this is the first final Telstar have ever got to so I'd like to win it.
Because I want some advice on how to meme a win. I beat FC Utrecht via a lucky 84th min goal.... granted I was all over them statistically (22 shots, 11 on target vs 13 shots, 6 on target) but still relied on that to win. They're 5th in the Eredivise. Whilst Az (likely team) is 3rd. Ado Den Haag are the other possibility and they're 13th. I'd like to win it, so just any players I should watch out for?
Adrian Torres
Literally change nothing.
Justin Price
Okay, it's obviously a few games away. If I lose, I'm going to come say uncomplimentary things to you.
If only you left the EU too, mon amie. We could form the Anglo-French Union like one of your politicians wanted to in 1956. But we were fools.. or more specifically, the Yanks and put a puppet in charge and we rejected it...
Bentley Powell
Also is it me or has in box shooting basically turned into pinball: the game? Sick of players hitting other players.
Leo Kelly
Been like that for a couple of releases... even though FM players aren't that good at finishing as you would never have that many shots; nevermind that many shots stopped by the keeper IRL. But honestly if you're going to Work Ball Into Box, you need to play a bit faster. It would make sense that there would be a defender countering you if you're playing slow and they're looking to just soak up the pressure.
Asher Murphy
lost track of the number of times a 0-0 with the opponent parking the bus has been turned into a blowout when the first goal was a deflected shot or own goal stemming from a chance at the top of the box
Cooper Wood
Still 100% win record in the league.
Yeah, I do WBIB on highest tempo. It works but still annoying.
I scored an amazing goal like that. Ricochetted like a dozen times, then came into the air at one point, player overhead kicked it into the opposite corner from outside the 6 yard box. Wish I could have recorded it.
Kevin Green
Annoying Thing No.ILostCount. You hit the ball, it is parried by GK, it trickles out wide, there is a player nearby but he doesn't run for it. Or, GK parries it, there is no player near the ball to attempt a shot from this series of events. Or the ultimate shit. Player has ball, player is tackled, ball is dislodged and is free, your player is 5 yards away from it and instead of going for it, continues to run back towards his goal because the AI is dumb, despite having 'Press' and 'Counter' on, you'd hope, pray, they'd grab this lose ball miles away from any opposition player and go for it. You can almost see the AI clicking going 'Nah, won't start a counter attack, msut defend lol, must ignore tactics lol'. Goes alone list of 'I have asked you to always press why the fuck are you letting their best passer time on the ball'. Etc.
Justin Wilson
>win game 4-1 >my striker gets a hattrick......! >of disallowed goals >including a half volley from 10 yards out because one of my players was 'offside' Oh well my 40 year old CM I signed for £1k got his hattrick, two long range shots and a customary hattrick penalty. Winger got the other.
Kayden Brown
Finaly thing before I go to bed. If you slag off the officials for disallowed goals and they remain silent; is there any benefit in even slagging them off? Does it decrease the chances of disallowed goals by the ME if you judge it right? Same regarding sending off and appealing? I slagged them off, got the silent event (which is surprisingly rare, I only did it because I thought the volley was legit) and I was gonna turn off to go to bed anyway. Just wondering if there is a benefit to doing it over not?
Adam Morris
There's no benefit as far as I can see.The media either calls you a pussy nigga if you say nothing or agrees with the ref. Or you get fined which has no consequence because money is useless or they just say nothing. It's pretty dumb but I guess that's "realistic"
Eli Ortiz
That sucks. I'll just go 'well them's the breaks' because cest la vie. Miles needs to make you calling them out on it give some benefit if you get it right. Perhaps rep boost or something for various obvious unfair treatment? Or confirmation that the ref has been demoted for failure to get correct calls. Or something.
Kayden Clark
>striker gets game winning goal but its called offside >the replay shows he is onside when the ball was kicked initially >show hes offside as the ball is hitting his head
has this happened to anyone else?
Joseph Jones
I think so. My main announce is not being sure what colour represented my player. I think it's red for your player and yellow for the offside line? Either way, I've seen very clear offsides not given and very clear onsides been given as off. Football for ya. Just play in a league with VAR :^). Lots of issues though, yeah. ''''Realism''' Aka poor coding k e k.
I need somebody to tell Miles to add a proper Infrastructure system. So I can request certain levels of facility. In fact, fuck it, give me Total Club Manager/FIFA Manager level shit. Let me build everything from training pitches, to Youth Camps, to Boarding Schools, PR Studios and all that shit to boost my team. Allow me to do something with my fucking wage I earn. Let me invest it, or let me buy fucking clubs out. Let me become a Player/Manager. Let me become a Chairman/Manager.
Colton Hughes
>player shoots from narrow angle >misses badly, it's going to go out wide of the far post >there's a player there who could easily collect it, it would basically be a perfect cross >he lets it run out for a goal kick because the ME has declared it a shot rather than a pass
Levi Harris

You meant you beat AZ 4-1?
Jonathan Baker
You have to listen through the entire "Cotton Eye Joe" before the start menu appears.

Nope, was fellow lower league team. Ironically Jong AZ. Tactic is 4-2-3-1. It works.
Robert Parker
i think he meant roles, duties, shouts, that kinda thing your idea of 4-2-3-1 might look very different to mine
Ian Baker
Pretty meme. FB(D). CM(A). CM(D). IF(A). W(S). AF. AM(S). NCB(D). CD(Co). Etc. Play through the middle. Somehow it werks. Nothing but wins.

I'm tired and cba taking an image mate. I'll do it later and you guys booli me even if I'm doing well. I have a few games left to win (which I probably won't). Got board to give me some more coaches and give me more budget for them. Signed a Portuguese regen and I have some good youths via by intake. Which is great as bar the two regens I signed before that, were all generics. Hopefully I can rape now. I hate doing this, got 100% win rate and if you lose or draw you feel like shit so I'm not bothering to rush it.
Blake Stewart
what the actual fuck is this retardo doing
Lucas Campbell
Why can't I place any player at the far post when I do corners this side of the field?
I don't understand. it looks like your DCL is on the far post. what happens when you select another non-taker, like your MCL? there should be "stand on far post" and "attack far post" options, I think you can have one player in each
Jayden Robinson
No the "stand at far post" was the only position available in this area which was what I meant
Isaiah Howard
that'd just set a precedent for playing off the field, they'll never do it even though that's the most realistic thing in a football simulator. We all know big teams loan hundreds of players around so small teams gift them points
Hunter Allen
Can somebody quickly inform me how i can scam the transfer system with Bilbao? Can i really only sign basque players, or is there a way to get 16/17 years old, and make them homegrown or whatever?
Andrew Hill
Why do my players always want to leave after they get one bid even though we regularly win the league and Champions League?
Thomas Butler
artificial difficulty
Juan Johnson
small team?
Carter Young
It doesn't really add difficulty though, seems more like a way for the game to tell you to quit and start a new save. Eventually you reach a cycle of >win everything >chelsea, city, madrid, psg arrive in june and make nonstop offers on everyone >forced to offload a third of your starting 11 if you're lucky >spend the half a billion in transfer income to buy every decent regen in the game for super inflated prices >repeat
Third highest rep according to the global list which apparently means nothing after a certain point
John Campbell
Somehow my club is in massive debt, current -850k balance, but I have loads of transfer funds and wages and we are making FFP. We might not survive the furpuck shitposting senpai
What I've found in this game when I was a noob playing as a strong team in the league (like jong az are in eredivisie 2 I believe) There is a priority list on what helps you win matches and it goes like: player quality>morale>tactics So with bad tactics but good players, as long as you win some early season games, you can keep winning and moraleball your way to success. My roles and instructions looking back were horrific even though I was doing 'well' in the game. I could have been doing so much better with proper understanding. Don't be afraid to lose 100% win rate fren :) you doing good anyways
Gavin Smith
looks great. good long shots, dribbling and vision with no glaring flaws apart from bad stamina and off the ball.
Evan Carter
Absolutely fucking pathetic. I don't care if Schalke are 2 leagues above us. You don't concede 3 against 10 men. Every single one of these cunts can have fun playing in the reserves from now on.
Is it often such an unrealistic thing happens in the game? they beat Pooventus, Real MAD and Liverpoo in the final.
Owen Clark
What version? Mourinho is extremely OP in 17 and 18, causing his United to win almost everything every season.
Nolan Carter
how do you guys approach moving to a new team? do you bring your favorite players along with you, selling them for 0 moneys to your upcoming club? or do you keep it respectable?
Daniel Russell
that's a little unusual, but they won the PL in 2022/3 and are always a threat in my save. a lot of their players are overrated, but in particular FM thinks pogba and milinkovic-savic (who they always seem to sign) are two of the greatest players of all time
Jason Cooper
>milinkovic-savic Yeah he's the best midfielder in the game for some reason
Caleb Bennett
Pogba in 18 is what, 180 CA? It's insane how overrated he is. I don't think Xavi or Modric ever had that much
Brody Myers
im playing 19. shit was wild. They also just bought Hazard and this OP regen turkish player who is supposed to be the next coming of Messi.
Carson Watson
>in the middle of a run of league games, generally 2/week >have to travel to albania to get flattened by real madrid in 34 degree heat >it's basically a meaningless friendly >next league game is in 2 days oh well, fuck it. they're playing their best team so I will too
Just a heads up: You can get FM19 + shittons of other games for $1 if you buy the Xbox Game Pass for PC ($5 every following month)
Xavier Garcia
So tired of this shit game
>both goalkeepers get injured TWICE before BOTH CL knockout games >every second game we either have a red card awarded or a penalty, despite my instructions not listing as so >have to play my CL knockout games with an U18 keeper

Remember: asking the players not to tackle hard essentially tells them to do more elbows and shirt pulls if they can't defend otherwise. Another misnomer from SI; get used ot it.

Josiah Carter
FM12. Maybe. Ah, sliders...
Ian Gomez
probably any up until about 16
Jose Davis
Also, why does my striker who has 18 finishing and 15 PKs misses 9/10 of penalties? what the fuck
Austin Martinez
Ever since a few weeks I'm starting to miss a lot more penalties for some reason
Anthony Miller
Again i am filling up the club with potential goats that i cant give enough playing time.
what's his composure? anyway for some reason I never have luck getting strikers to take pens. probably coincidence but I usually end up giving them to an experienced midfielder or something
Ian Roberts
How bad can it be if I ignore the fact that my players hate to train strength.
My taktik revolves around A high line, an absolute shit load of pressure and essentially max intensity, so i’m essentially filling up 2-3 slots a week with endurance and 2-3 slots with other physical training (not including rest/recovery)
Andrew Robinson
I don't know exactly how it works, but I'm pretty sure you can create an unhappy-->poor training performances-->poor game performances feedback loop. if your tictac is good enough you'll probably get away with it though, just keep slowly improving the overall professionalism of the squad
Hello lads. Telstar update. Just about won my last game 3-2. Got a few injuries. Some disicpline suspensions. A few games left. Four or so left, plus the Final. 100% win rate.
What was the injury, how long was he out, how old is he?
Colton Johnson
Twisted Knee 6 days 25 Poor Ricky
William Wood
That doesn't make much sense. Sounds like a bug. If it was a broken leg or something and he was 28 then I could see that happening. But a simple twisted knee that leads to that drop in speed sounds like a bug. Worst I had is general all round drops that don't seem to make sense.
Adam Brooks
Thats a bummer.
Levi Anderson
>winning 4-0 at half time >opponents nearly always bang in multiple goals, leading to close losses, draws or wins with clean sheet ending I hate this shit. I've also never gotten the '2-0 down at half time but gone on to win' achievement ever. I always draw or lose from that 2-0 down.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT. I said this RIGHT before Half-Time, saying to myself 'Oh I say this on /trb/ but it totally won't happen now and I'll feel silly'. They get a goal as I'm writing and go on to think 'Well, surely not, it's 4-1 now...'. Then this proceeds to fucking happen. I'm sick of it. If it wasn't for a 25 yard blooter from a 40 year old, this would have been a draw at best and 100% rate destroyed. This game is doing my tits in regards to that. Both 3rd and 4th goal were GK falling over and balls going through both their hands and general shit defending. Is this a bug or is SI making this happen for some reason?
I once had a Perfectionist losing 3 points of determination for no reason.
Jaxon Stewart
ThisBuy 4, loan 3. After two years, sell 2 or 3 depending on the needs. I recently bought a Spanish striker for 3.9m, loaned him for three years straight (Villarreal two times and Barcelona) then sold him 90m to United.
Ryan Miller
Is it a bug? Like, if you say 'Don't get complacent out there' is taking the morale hit worth it in terms of... like, I mean, does saying that prevent the collapses? I'm starting to worry saying 'good job' makes them collapse every fucking time.
So lets say I win 1-0 or 2-1 or something, do I say guard against? I usually say good job if it was away, bad job if it was at home. If it's a much better team I beat (and I have done in my Telstar run) then I'll say good job.
Also, forgot to say, the weaker Eredivese team won so I have a 'weaker' opponent in the final, rather than 3rd place... I have 14th.
Julian Peterson
>So lets say I win 1-0 or 2-1 or something, do I say guard against? Hairdryer most of the time regardless. Home or away doesn'ty matter, only the strength of the opposition does. If they're underdogs, I'd say to keep working hard. Only leading by a goal. Initially they will react poorly to hairdryers when leading... then they get used to it. It also gives you an opportunity to weed out the mental hacks who can't handle the pressure and will inevitably complain.
Andrew Howard
there's no really good answer. personally I've absolutely never had a problem praising players for merely-decent performances, but clearly others have, so try it and see what works. I think the more important route is figuring out a way to alter your tactics for when you're 2 or 3 up and just want to kill the game. find ways to condense midfield and keep possession, to waste time, and to be ready for counterattacks without forcing the play too often and losing the ball.
Oliver Russell
As I said, I'm on a 100% run and haven't done anything of this shit. As is, I'll carry on. Not lost a game (yet) and this seems to be working. I just got mad that going 'good job' when you're 4-1 up at half time results in nearly losing. Like there is a retarded fucking bug that makes you praise players for leading resulting in your fucking up. I'll stop it. See what happens.
Dylan Green
FM just really likes to do that. It's a screwy thing with the way motivation works. You'll see the same thing happen if you blow out an equivalent-talent team in the first game of a two-legged tie, your players will play the second leg as if they're hungover. You can mitigate the effect by shouting/not shouting at the right times, but you just have to expect it will happen to some extent, and plan for it tactically.
Robert Hernandez
who /onlyhiresfemalephysios/ here??
Nathan Thomas
The other thing I've noticed, tho this is probably sods law, is making attacking changes to force a win after 65-70 mins, then getting it in the 80th or 85th or whatever and making super defensive changes, putting 5 at the back, all that jazz. Before the effect takes place, they score. I hate that shit. Have to cancel the order and hope you grab another (or are hopefully 2 up by this point).
John Williams
More like mostly female staff... but honestly it's just because i hate the regen staff look. Most female staff bar a couple of exceptions (
The thing is, if you're winning, they haven't made a change and you're still somewhat dominating, you have no reason to make a change. Of course you can get the /trb/ treatment, but you have no real incentive to actually change anything: you're winning!
Aaron Garcia
>Most female staff bar a couple of exceptions ( Heh, forgot to type the examples. I'm thinking of Hannah Herbert (reserve data anaylist for Bottleham HotSpuds) or Vasiliki Pappa (scout, usually free). Aside from that most of them suck, in a way that doesn't even make them somewhat serviceable.
Julian Diaz
Thing is, I usually win 95% of the game. It usually me playing minor teams in minor leagues and signing one or two players that suddenly make me unstoppable. Sign a single regen and boom. Done. Also really weird shit happened in this Telstar game. Suddenly got hundreds of Iranians in my scouting pool and staff pool, I didn't have a single person who could have unlocked that bar an Omani who I guess could have? Anyway. Load up, free agents, sign a good looking regen.
I need to load up a game where I lose a lot more.

I know what you mean. I find using the "demand more" shout IMMEDIATELY after scoring, cranking up timewasting, but doing basically nothing else usually works. at least you have less to undo if they score right away.

The thing is, I usually always shouting Demand More whatever results in improvement. What I hate is 'Push Forward' seems to always 'Frustrate' or 'Confuse' people when it's 0-0 at 80min or we're losing.

any of you mad lads like to do challenges? for me, it's the Youth Academy challenge

Is it worth buying Football Manager 2019 if I wanna play as a deep lower league English amateur team?

New: Depends how low. Beyond something like 8th or 10th tier, players are so shit they're indistinguishable. They're all very crap, and there's no difference between a player from a top club in 10th division and a decent squad member two divisions above.
