>Messi/Maradona/Baresi GOAT in their positions >No Zidane/Iniesta/Laudrup because Xavi was better >No Cristiano/Best/Garrincha because Cruyff was better >No Gerd Muller/Pele/Eusebio/van Basten because prime R9 (1996-1999) was better >No Buquets/Makelele/Mattheus because Beckenbauer was better >No Cafu because Dani Alves had an amazing chemistry with Messi >No Zanetti/R. Carlos because Maldini was better >No "Manletnnavaro"/Moore/Elis Figueroa because Nesta was better >Haven't seen Yashin, so Gigi starts
your taste in players is ok but the team wouldn't function.
Caleb Roberts
Lahm is a good call, but Cafu is also a good choice. I picked Dani because of his 40 trophies won and his chemistry with Messi while at Barcelona.
Christopher Johnson
>he thinks boomer footballers can be compared to today's footballers lmao they were all garbage. number of ballon d'or if prime maradona time traveled to messi/ronaldo era: ronaldo: 5 messi: 5 maradona: 0 nominations
Ian Smith
the problem with guys like buffon is the goalkeeper's position has changed so much recently, now that gk's are expected to contribute much more to the build up than previously.
guys like ederson and allison are superior for their technical ability and distribution
Ryder Bailey
> No Zidane/Iniesta/Laudrup because Xavi was better
ie you would get less out of almost every player in that lineup than you'd expect if they were to play together in that formation this guy has found a very obvious flaw
Leo Ortiz
But the thinking man isn't thinking hard enough if he put Xavi together with Maradona and Beckenbauer in midfield.
Jack Nguyen
By this logic Valdes is better than Banks, Zoff or Schmeichel. He isn't.
Gigi is better than Neuer/Allison/Ederson or whatever recent GK you want to name.
Isaac Jackson
Beckenbauer at DM (better than Busi, Mattheus or Makelele) Xavi at CM (better than Iniesta, Gullit or Zizou) Maradona at AM (better than anyone else)
What is a more balanced combination?
Dominic Price
Buffon in his prime certainly wouldn't be better in one of Pep's teams, although he might be better in a side from his time. A lot of it is really up to the system and what you intend for the player to do. That's why these "best teams ever" will always just remain either a mere pastime, or a way of giving credit to eleven great players.
Xavier Wilson
No one knows who the best GK of all time is. I'd put Cafu over Dani Alves. The rest is fine.
Jose Wood
Holy fuck, how can you even dare to compare Xavi and Iniesta. The whole Iniesta > Xavi is a huge meme, you have to be completely and utterly daft to say that Xavi isn't the best of the two (and, in all honesty, the best of all those who could claim to even compete with him).
Cr7 instead of R9 Ramos instead of Baresi Fellaini instead of Xavi Matthaus instead of Beckenbauer
Wew i just made your team better and more aggresive
Julian Bailey
>Cruyff lost stamina in 2nd half because of flat foot >Xavi Instead of Ruud Gullit >Dani Alves Light build. Arguing Alves has an amazing chemistry with Messi, but putting two individualistics: Messi and Maradona in the same team
Best one of these threads I saw in a long time. Personally I would only play Iniesta instead of Xavi
Aiden Foster
nice time machine faggot
Luke Bailey
Something that would work together. Busi-Xavi-Iniesta would dominate that midfield, especially if they had defenders and a keeper behind them that were elite with the ball and wanted to play the same style.
I'd bet my life that the best of Peps Barcelona (with Pedro in the line-up) would crush your team.
Ian Allen
>Find a flaw Messi and Xavi are the only ones who actually deserve their place.
Getting bit tired of this "overrate players from when I was young" meme.
Jack Davis
Maradona was nowhere near the level of Messi or C.Ronaldo even when compared to the players of his time. Have to wonder why le fat guy who does tricks and cocaine and had like two actually good seasons is rated in the first place.
Carter Reed
maybe adding Ter Stegen, Alba and fat Ronaldo to that team and you would have a team with no flaw.
If you want to have Xavi in the team you should build it so it suits his style, same with Messi - Maldini and Cruyff wouldn't be ideal for his passes, Messi would be better off with at least one runner from the left.
Dylan Anderson
here you have it give me a team that would beat this team
