>What now for Tottenham Hotspur, who must return to the drawing board following their defeat at the hands of Liverpool in Saturday’s Champions League final in Madrid. While they were away, somebody sketched portraits of Real Betis’s central midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, his Lyon counterpart Tanguy Ndombélé, Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gómez and Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon, whose collective price-tag of well over £140m could send a chill down the spine of the club’s thrifty chairman Daniel Levy.
Meanwhile at Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku‘s mooted £60m move to Inter has hit a snag. Reports in assorted English tabloids suggest the Serie A side need to raise £40m by the end of this month in order to comply with financial fair play rules and will therefore be unable to make any big name signings unless they can offload a couple of players first. Asked by the BBC World Service if he was hoping to sign Lukaku, new Inter manager Antonio Conte was non-committal(ish). “I think now it’s very difficult to talk about this,” he said. “For sure, we have a plan to try to improve the team but it will be very important for the players, it will be very important to have a great will and great ambition, me, the players and the club, to try to reduce this gap.”
>United are interested in a right-back, but are believed to have baulked at the £30m Tottenham Hotspur are asking for Kieran Trippier, who looks to have have played his last game for the club. Crystal Palace whelp Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also the subject of interest at Old Trafford, but may prefer to join their local rivals Manchester City, who are also keen on securing his services.

Roma winger Cengiz Ünder is wanted at Everton, who have had an initial bid of almost £25m for the Turkish winger turned down by the Italian club. The 21-year-old has also turned heads at Arsenal. Having been linked with a move to Manchester United, Everton’s Brazilian winger Richarlison has told FourFourTwo he’s happy where he is. “It’s a nice feeling when you get praise for your good work, but I’m not thinking about a transfer at the moment,” he said. “I’ve just arrived at Everton. I’m happy here.” Bless.
>No shortage of uncertainty remains over the future ownership of Newcastle United and the reign of Rafael Benítez as the club’s manager. The Express claims the Spaniard has decided that if the Bin Zayed Group are successful in their takeover bid, he’ll treat himself to Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and Jan Hurtado, a 19-year-old Venezuelan striker with Argentinian side Gimnasia.
And finally, unwanted at PSG, where his contract expires at the end of this month, Adrien Rabiot has been offered £175,000 per week and a £4.5m signing on fee by Manchester United, but would prefer to keep his Thursday nights free and is angling for a move to Liverpool instead. Previously a target of Tottenham, Juventus and Barcelona, the French midfielder is reported to have priced himself out of a move in January.
it's confirmed in Argentina that Santiago Sosa is getting bought by Everton for 15 millions (I think dollars, not Euros, all contracts here are in dollars) he is in the U20 world cup in Poland, and won't play another match in Argentina. His parents confirmed it. He is a defensive midfielder from River Plate. Now they just have to work out the work permit. If he does good there he could go to the world cup in Quatar, because there is low competition for that position in Argentina. Only Paredes, who is a very different style of midfielder.

West Ham fear they will miss out on André Gomes to Everton despite lodging a £20m bid for the Barcelona midfielder. The London Stadium club have already had an £18m bid for the Portugal player knocked back and have returned to Barcelona with a new offer. It is thought the Spanish champions want at least £25m for the 25-year-old. [The Guardian]
>Aston Villa are chasing Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge and have already had a bid knocked back. WalesOnline understands Villa saw a bid of around £8m rejected by the Bluebirds , who aren't interested in selling one of their star performers unless a "generous offer" is made for his services. [WalesOnline]
A number of Premier League clubs are interested in offering West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez a route back to the top tier. His hometown club Burnley, who made a £16m bid to re-sign their academy product last summer, could also return for the versatile forward although Bournemouth is also said to be interested. [Express and Star]
>Manchester United have moved into pole position to sign Leicester City's James Maddison this summer. United have made the 22-year-old their new priority, and he is likely to cost close to £60million if he leaves the King Power this summer. No official bid has been made yet, and this is still the early stage of enquiries and discussions about the transfer. [Independent]
MAIN STORY: Juventus are interested in signing Paul Pogba back from Manchester United, according to Sky in Italy. Lo Celso and N'Dombele would be amazing. Spurs also need to realize that Kane can't play every fucking match down to FA cup matches in Cambridge. Let Son and Lucas run the show in those matches at striker. It was ok two seasons ago and it should be ok now considering he keeps fucking his ankle up. Either that or get a capable second striker to let him rest for important matches.
this. too error-prone in possession. would be excusable if he was a teenager. the last thing united need is another loose cannon. it'll be hilarious though
theoretically.. the yorobeat highlights I watchef of him he seems like he's more of a passer than a shooter
Jacob Diaz
Nah he plays either the Trequartista role, or the pure centrocampista. He's played some regista but isn't strong defensively
Samuel Miller
he is a midfielder that scores a lot for a midfielder, similar to Di Maria when he plays as a midfielder instead of a winger. he does defend more than Di Maria. I guess he could play as a striker, as in, play behind the 9 in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1 or something like that, but it would be more like AM than striker
Daniel Peterson
Ahh, Javi, or some say Javi Martinez… Do you hear our prayers? No, us scousers will not abandon the dream. No one can catch us, no one can stop us now!

just read Sosa will have an EU passport before year's end, must have recent Spanish/Italian ancestors, so, work permit would only be an issue for a few months I don't know if Brexit will change any of this, if people with EU passports will continue to be able to play in the UK as if they werent foreigners
I like how South Americans typically return to their boyhood club, wish Europeans would do that more often

iirc they wanted to buy Di Maria a couple of years before but they couldnt because of a contract he signed with RM that would have made him extremely expensive. they had to wait 5 years to pass since Di Maria left RM. It's something RM begun to do to make sure their explayers don't go to Barcelona.

Lemar isn't doing very good, which makes sense because I think they play him out of position. Simeone keeps buying wingers, makes them play as midfielders in a 442, and also wants them to defend a lot. Perhaps he has finally learned you cant have a midfield made of 4 Busquets.

Can I get a rundown on the meme position names i.e. trequarista, regista, madonna, lampana, etc?
Matthew Turner
Regista is a midfielder that plays in the position of the defensive midfielder, but doesn't defend, he just makes many excellent passes, especially long distance ones. A creative midfielder that plays very deep. The most famous one is Pirlo, but there are some active ones, like Ever Banega in Sevilla. They tend to be the free kick specialists of the team too. It wouldnt be impossible for an old 38 years old Messi to end up playing in that position.
Matthew Scott
>sign 3 wingers when they play a 3-5-2 genius
David Sanders
Trequarista is a "three-quarter forward" somewhere between an attacking midfielder and a striker, basically a second striker, expected to provide chances as well but more specialised in finishing moves than a normal #10
Dominic Powell
Gotze can play Right Wing or AMC/CAM. Ziyech can play Left Wing or AMC/CAM. These are two positions that Arsenal need to fix. Robben can play on either wing but predominately Left Wing. So it'd be like this

Not really. Gotze has been constantly linked to Arsenal. Robben is free. Ziyech is £25m. I don't see the issue with it. Kannemann is cheap and linked with Arsenal. Your autism about spelling is weird but whatever. It's not beyond reason especially when they're probably within the price range. Robben isn't a step down in quality to fucking Iwobi. He wouldn't go to Arsenal, sure, but he could improve the team if he went.
Lucas Ortiz

Hudson Perry
Thing is, I'm going on what Arsenal can get and buy. Kannemann is £10m and whether he's good or not, he is a new player they could probably afford that isn't too bad. Ziyech is the same. Who do they play in the Ramsey position now? Xhaka? Ozil? Robben on a single year contract isn't bad, he's 37 and I don't see any CL clubs going for him. I dunno mate, just thinking.

i think it depends on how you get the wage bill. if you sign players on low wages then give them big contracts to keep them around once theyve earned them thats fine, but signing players for 250k plus a week when you dont even know if theyll be worth it or not is a no no
Elijah Jackson
>United, Liverpool, Chelsea and City are the only clubs who have ever spent over £100m netspend in a season >people will say they're not money clubs Spurs are truly the only good team in the league, followed by Arsenal and Burnley.
They’re buying every single u18 promising player rather than spending 50m on them 3 years later Nicky Butt is having a great transfer window
Jack Price
Well, Liverpool's players are all on £200k+, which makes them the 2nd highest wage bill in the league behind only Manchester 'We Can Sign Anybody' United. It goes
1. United 2. Liverpool 3. City 4. Chelsea 5. Arsenal 6. Spurs
And Arsenal will be even lower now because they lost Welbeck, Ramsey and Cech's £100k odd each.

I'm worried about Mane leaving. He didn't look very happy on the parade bus. Rumour has it he lost his CL medal though.
But besides that he was furious with Salah for not passing yet again.
Liverpool are preparing for signing Mbappe...again. But may have missed the golden opportunity, as they should have signed him before PSG shackled him. FSG said that it won't happen again and the next time a world class talent comes up, they will have the funds ready.

Logan Reed
Because you know that Woodward won't end this transfer window without one or two big signings for Ole? Because you know they'll happily fire Ole in December if you're not in Top 4. Because you're not worse than Arsenal who won't do any of that and could lose their best player?

Realistically, how do you fix United? Buying players like Rabiot and Bale has been a failed strategy so far, they are basically clones of Pogba and Sanchez and will only be there to earn huge wages while not meeting expectations. Other teams have realized how desperate they are so signing British players like Maguire, Wan Bissaka and Maddison who might not be top tier but will care enough to show up will cost as much as buying your Griezmanns, your Dybalas, etc.
Is there a rational solution to this?

Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has expressed his desire for Jurgen Klopp to become Bayern Munich manager in the future after his incredible feat with Liverpool.
"I want nothing more than to see Klopp come to Bayern one day, it would be a good fit," Beckenbauer, who won five German titles with Bayern as a player and coach, told German newspaper Bild.
"Jurgen brought a new type of football to Germany... what he began in Dortmund, he has refined in Liverpool. He is the worlds best."
He added: "I think that a job in England robs you of energy. As a manager in the Premier League, you have more responsibility than as a coach in the Bundesliga.

If Origi was smart he'd hand in a transfer request now. He'll never get more than back-up minutes at Liverpool and his 2 goals in the CL semi and one in the final should be enough to get him a decent move somewhere.
Zachary Rodriguez
I will never understand why bringing up net spend triggers some retards. Like it's a bad thing that a club balances the books and doesn't go into debt.
Michael Smith
Trippier-Dybala swap
Andrew Edwards

Would somebody please buy Boateng? He is a diverse pro dabbing ex world champion ready to give all for his new club.
Smalling is a perfectly fine squad player. He’s fast, strong, and the only defender they have with any ability in the air. Jones and Young needed to leave years ago.
Jack Jenkins
It does matter for clubs that aren't playthings of foreign slavers so I can understand that it's an unknown concept for supporters of english clubs.

Why don't Liverpool go for De Ligt? It'd be a bit harsh on Gomez and Matip, sure, but with him they'd arguably have the best CB pairing in the world. It'd be a proper statement
Liam King
net spend is the only metric that makes liverpool look good
Levi Edwards
To be honest with you lads, I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool have the highest wage bill excluding bonuses soon, FSG have hueg wage bills in America.
He'd take up their budget for the year. They need a midfielder who can create and better backups for the front three way more than that. I agree it would be insane to have both man mountains though. The Twin Towers
Aaron Green

They are convinced that De Ligt is even considering their club and it’s not just a ploy by Raiola to get higher wages and agent fee from Barca.
Julian Hernandez
You didn't hear? Due to the recent scandal, SC Chad now want to offload Stacy and Becky's signing with Brads United was called off at the last minute. Even user FC have cooled their interest in both prospects.
John Davis
So he's staying at Ajax after all?
Nathan Robinson

Can £250m finally buy you another Premier league title?
Klopp doesn’t need creative midfielders. They “create” by pressing like spastics and winning the ball high up the pitch with the opponent disorganized.
Christopher Murphy
Doesn't work against bus parkers like Everton and Man U, they need to convert to 0-0 draws into wins
