Parents get obsessed with their kids’ teams or their alma mater and follow religiously. It’s pretty cringe in my opinion, considering the vast majority of those kids will not play in college and never, ever professionally. Football sucks below the college level. Occasionally some prodigy comes through but that is incredibly rare and then he just gets badly concussed or tears an ACL senior year
