Joshua wanted to call off the fight but Hearn forced him to fight. Thoughts?
Bentley Cruz
What was with that scar on Joshua's chest? And what about the facial damage he had prior to the Ruiz fight? Did he get in a street brawl?! Was it the Push? >That was just physio stuff really. No-one really does that to me in sparring and stuff like that. So that was just more physio stuff, like rehabilitation, recovery. Is obvious bullshit.

No he's not. He literally said on the Graham Norton show that he wasn't knocked down by klitschko, he was hit and then purposefully dropped to avoid further damage. When asked why he weighed more against Takam when he publicly said he was going to cut weight for the fight, he said "ive been running a lot that must be why". Not only that but it would only benefit him and Hearn so there would be no reason for Eddie to discourage Joshua. In fact Eddie would want Joshua to have an a reasonable excuse, to save face

He said the shit about running and gaining weight before he fought Takam at the weigh in. I remember because people mocked it hard. This is also the same guy who predicted he would knockout parker then asked why didn't in the post fight interview, he said playing it safe was the plan all along.

We all are. I don't even normally care about women's boxing, but to see two of Eddie Hearn's golden geese get beat in the same night, on the same card, in their first American bouts would have been amazing. It does seem like a massive excuse. People get bashed up in sparring before big fights all the time. On the night itself, AJ looked like he usually does for the first couple of rounds (tentative and trying to time him) until Ruiz caught him coming in for the finish with a monster counter. AJ looked out of it from that point onwards.
There's no conspiracy, AJ just left himself wide open after he knocked Ruiz down and paid the price for it.

Friendly reminder that the kingpins of the HW division naturally fall at the upper and lower extremeties of weight. Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller and Oleksandr Usyk will take over the division in 2020.
He forgot #4; Any fight there happens to be a lot of money around, even if there's no general American interest in it. For example your average joe doesn't care about Canelo vs Golovkin, but Canelo makes a lot of money thanks to Mexican-Americans, so mainstream media reports on it.
Mayweather's claim to fame was the bragging and boasting about how much money he makes, and the amount of money he made came directly as a result of exploiting the Mexican-American market, flat out mocking them to get them to elevate him to a PPV star. Once he started making an extreme amount of $$$ and he started to really flaunt that fact, mainstream American media started to take notice and reported on every single one of his fights.
Camden Myers
I think so, boxing is nonexistent for most of America
This is a very good point. DAZN got a lot a publicity anyway and more casual people will know that Canelo has a 365M$ deal with them. This will undoubtely make them appear as a great sporting platform. They probably lost money on AJ but overall I think it still was a success with them. AJ knocking Ruiz out in a boring fight would have never had the same impact

Povetkin was applying pressure the way Ruiz was. If you watch the fight, povetkin jumps inside lands single shots(usually countering Joshua's lazy jab and then moves back out of range. So Joshua would try to catch him coming in and then eventually did when Povetkin's defense slipped and he didn't duck to avoid Joshua's right hand( he barely landed any straight rights in that fight previously)
The difference with Ruiz is that he stood in mid range(which is Joshua's prefered range) and threw multi punch combos at joshua and punched while joshua was punching( instead of waiting to counter) Povetkin actually had a better defense because Ruiz ate some shots.
webm related. Look how joshua just pauses after they exchange hooks. Povetkin would have jumped back out range, which I think Joshua expected but Ruiz stays in range and launches a combination Joshua is not ready for
Povetkin was a 40 year old can crusher at the time
Jayden Anderson

That too. A younger povetkin might not have slipped up like he did and get caught.
No idea really although I would say the signs aren't that good. His fight against both Povetkin and Ruiz are weird because it both fights it looks like he's totally surprised by how they fight even though those guys always fight the same. Like fucking Povetkin always comes in, duck his head and throws good overhand rights.
I really expected Joshua to follow Parker's gameplan and just jab off the backfoot and throw rights but apparently not. He's going to have to go full Klitschko to beat ruiz but that depends on having a good jab and watching the povetkin fight, you can see him throw a ton of lazy jabs that povetkin capitalized on.
Jackson Robinson
tell me about dem texas boys
Owen Hernandez
I agree, I think he needs to take the center of the ring and keep Ruiz at range, not move on the outside and let him dictate the area of the fight, that doesn't work for him, not with his body, not with Ruiz' hand and foot speed. Also should exclusively spar smaller guys, not Bakole and Okolie.
Hunter James
70/30 josh takes it he rocked Ruiz multiple times IF he brushes up on his jab and defense and he’s fine. And I say this as a Mexican American and someone who dislikes Joshua and was proud of Ruiz.
joshua was having sucess against povetkin and ruiz when he kept then at long distance, some jabs and 1-2s with the ocasional bodyshot, which is what rob mccracken told him in the corner btw

Yeah but much less success than Klitschko had. It was weird because it looked like he had watched no tape of Povetkin. Granted Klitschko had to clinch like over 200 times but that should clued them into thinking, neutralizing povetkin on the inside is a priority. But joshua would just sort of shell up when ever povetkin did make inside.
And then we run into the same problem with following klitschko too much. Joshua is just not as good of an outboxer as Klitschko so not only did he follow only half of klits approach but he wasn't even as effective carrying out that plan. Povetkin landed a ton of counter rights over joshua's jab.
So either he gets good enough to fully emulate Klitschko or reverts his older style and figures a way to bully these guys with his size like he used to before. Either way, he's too hittable so his defense needs to improve if he's this chinny
Nathaniel Scott

Ruiz had the perfect gameplan, and it shows in that webm. He just wails away at Joshua the moment Joshua gets the sense to punch, completely overwhelming him.
I don't think AJ has a chance at winning in the rematch. This wasn't a fluke, Ruiz had AJ's number.
Wilder is also vulnerable to Ruiz, I think. If he gets matched up with Ruiz he has to be told in no uncertain terms not to windmill with Ruiz. It was relatively safe to windmill with everyone else, but Ruiz will slip punches when he's hurt and will punch back with fast short combinations that Wilder is way too long and wiry to do anything about. If Breazeale, Fury, and Ortiz were able to punish Wilder for windmilling, Ruiz most certainly will do worse than those did to him if he tries that.
If Wilder jabs from the outside and tries to land a knockout shot from long range, given he is the quickest Heavyweight in the sport when it comes to long range punches, then he should win that matchup. If he mixes it up on the inside with Ruiz then he'll go the way of Joshua and get knocked on his ass.
Logan Turner
Casual poster begone

Ruiz small size helps him in the pocket, he's a very compact target, his hands dont have to travel far to the target, and he's naturally very quick, going to be very tough for anyone to handle him there

LOL Imagine being down on the scorecards against a waaaaaaaaaaay over the hill Chisora going into the 11th round. Imagine cheating so hard against Parker and still just barely edging out a victory, one that he only edged out because of an illegal headbutt mixed with hometown judging.
Diilian Shyte would get mopped by any top 5 Heavyweight.
Wow, that's actually a solid card. Redpill me, how shot is Perez at this stage of his career? I haven't seen Egorov as a pro, only know him for knocking out Wilder in the ammies, will Perez be able to handle him?
Wilder doesn't windmill against serious opponents. He's unironically improved a lot since his windmilling days.
I think Wilder has better matchup against Ruiz for a couple reasons. Wilder is nowhere near as gunshy as Joshua is. He has better survival instincts as well. Look at round 3 of Joshua Ruiz and the round where Ortiz hurt wilder, wilder knows enough to clinch for dear life the entire rest of the round while Joshua gives up clinching and drops his fucking guard 30 seconds after getting knocked down. Even Wilder was smart enough that for second half of the Fury fight, he fought with his gloves up in a high guard most of the rest of that fight because he knew he was getting hit and might as well block whatever he could. Joshua kept dropping his hands against ruiz and povetkin. He's also just faster and better fighting on the outside not to mention more experienced fighting shorter guys who fight like ruiz.
Daniel Rivera
Perez is still live I think but I would expect Egorov to come through
Blake Cook

Jacob Butler

Aaron Kelly
Yeah, exactly. He can exchange far quicker in the mid-short range than any of these tall Heavies, so it's basically a dead-zone for them. If he gets in there they need to clinch, which Wilder is capable of doing very easily compared to Joshua who doesn't seem to know how to clinch properly. Problem with Wilder is that it seems second nature for him to windmill if he gets his opponent hurt, we saw where that got AJ Saturday night though.
That's absolutely not true. He windmilled against Ortiz, he windmilled against Fury, and he Windmilled against Breazeale. Ortiz didn't quite manage to punish Wilder for it, he was too dazed. Fury stunned Wilder and fought his way back into the 12th round when Wilder windmilled at him, narrowly avoiding getting knocked down a third time or stopped, and Breazeale also stunned Wilder and prompted him to clinch to recover.
It's something Wilder does literally anytime he has an opponent hurt, it's a blessing and a curse, since it helps him force KOs but at the same time leaves him very vulnerable to short punches when his opponent is still lucid enough to fire back.
>Wilder is nowhere near as gunshy as Joshua is. That's not necessarily a good thing though. Wilder also will trade with guys if they get aggressive enough. Ortiz in like the 5th or 6th round walked Wilder down and Wilder's instinct was to stand in the pocket and start trading, he came out on top in the exchange, but Ruiz clearly is a much better fighter in those type of exchanges.

Ruiz said before the fight he watches Tyson vids to prepare for Joshua. Why not pay Kevin Rooney a visit and train with him. Why is no big name training with Rooney anyway.
>He windmilled against Ortiz To be honest I didn't think it was the same as the windmilling he did before. Look at the windmill he threw against washington, super wild and every one of them missed. He was more composed against ortiz and was throwing his shots with more purpose, he was slapping his shot but he wasn't going crazy like before
Maybe I should say, he still windmills but he's gotten better at throwing more effective shots while windmilling.
>That's not necessarily a good thing though. It's a good thing in this matchup. He would need to keep Ruiz off of him and not fold to the pressure like Joshua did. Wilder is either easily knocking guys out or is in a war and he's not afraid of getting hit.
Andre Ward was asked in an interview how he would approach a ggg fight(this was back when that was still a thing) and he basically said that he get inside and bully him. There are certain fighters who bully guys with their size and strength but once they fight someone who's not afraid of their power, they fall apart because they never had to deal with pressure. That's what happened kovalev and that's what happened with joshua as well. He just could not fight someone who would trade with him like that.
The thing is, wilder has already fought guys like that namely szpilka, duhaupas and ortiz. He had a rough time with szpilka and duhaupas but you can see the experience he got because he fought the ortiz fight with more restraint.
As an aside, Joshua himself admitted hating fighting shorter guys and said he wanted to find taller opponents

>It's a good thing in this matchup. He would need to keep Ruiz off of him and not fold to the pressure like Joshua did It definitely isn't. Wilder needs to keep range against Ruiz. Joshua's problem wasn't folding to pressure, he had moments where he tried to trade with Ruiz, but he got fucked up because Ruiz's punches are too compact as a consequence of his size.
Wilder needs to know to box from the outside and attempt to land the big shot from there, something he's very capable of doing. If it ever ends up close he needs to immediately clinch, another thing that Wilder is good at doing when he has to, but Joshua seems incapable of.
>World Boxing News can reveal Anthony Joshua was indeed knocked out in sparring after being informed of happenings from the event.
Chase Perez
It is though. Wilder is also a long range fighter so Ruiz will have a harder time getting into range. Not saying it's impossible for ruiz to win, I'm saying Wilder won't have as bad of a matchup against ruiz than joshua did.
Wilder has a sturdier chin too. Ruiz wasn't exactly known as a super hard knockout puncher before this.

This webm is a clear win for AJ. 10-8 on my scorecard desu
James Richardson
I'm betting AJ doesn't exercise the rematch clause and takes a tune up. Even if he did have a concussion, Joey Dawejko knocking him out in sparring is incredibly troubling and if didn't get knocked out in sparring, ruiz knocking around joshua is still bad. No way they put Joshua back in and potentially ruin his career forever. They're going to see if his chin is still salvageable
Jackson Stewart
it was a good stoppage, in the 5th it even looked like AJ can comeback and win the fight.
I'm just wondering why ruiz didn't try to finish him off in the 6th round, at the end he was just backing off without fighting back at all
Aiden Sanders
BASEADO
Jeremiah Cook
Canelo moves up to heavyweight and sparks anthony joshua
Joshua Baker
Joshua is bad but not that bad and not nearly as big a fraud as Canelo is
Kayden Evans
His team should have thrown in the towel by the 3rd kd. The fact that he kept going back to his corner to ask what shot put him down and "Why do i feel like this" should have been massive red flags.
Easton Flores
Andre Ward could have actually gone up to heavyweight and beat Joshua. Think about that
Colton Hernandez
Canelo beats everyone in the 154, 160, 168 division and there’s nothing you can do about it
Connor Martin
I’m glad the heavyweight division is getting talk about again. Those klitschko brothers ruined the heavyweight division.
Christopher Cox
AJ's corner men probably didn't want to endorse the responsibility of making Anthony "Superior Black Race" Joshua, the british media's superstar take his first loss
Evan Hall
BJS 12-0's that cunt
Jose Rogers
I met nery and was sitting literally directly in front of him at the rungvisai V Estrada fight in April, super nice guy and had some interesting analysis. Said he would want to fight either one in the near future
> was gonna post pic but cant upload files from IP range cause banned or something
Josiah Edwards
Why are people now pretending Joshua is a bum? neither Fury nor Wilder would have taken the earshots of Ruiz any better.
Anthony Joshua had a panic attack before his ringwalk which is why it was delayed and why his dad asked Eddie to call off the fight.
Dylan Howard
Hell no! Honestly Ruiz got lucky he connected on joshua and concussed him or would have been lights out. Aj will be back.
Adrian Reed
none of that involves losing he still would have made the 20M plus more if he had won the fight in short, cope
Leo Morris
I thought that last fight had a lot of parallels to Klitschko Sanders
Tyler Young
Fury and Wilder wouldn't be taking earshots from Ruiz in the first place.
Sebastian Kelly
Wtf a panic attack? How? He’s fought in a bigger stadium with a larger audience.
Adam Rodriguez
by being too good?
Julian Cruz
True, but it shows poor fundamentals and intelligence, and experience too. Even if you are tired you can still try to survive by running around the ring while keeping your hands up. I think the stoppage was fine, in that segment he was still in the fight, maybe fatigued. Now maybe after the third it was kinda akward the way he reacted but you have to give him the benefit of the doubt
Benjamin Young
mate just because AJ got upset don't get carried away he is miles better at boxing than Wilder
Easton Powell
what a sissy
Joseph White
Wilder would drop that big stiff BUM easy.
Samuel Brooks
cope harder you grief deluded schnook
Adrian Hughes
it was just a slump in the division: no vibrant fighters, no real diversity in technique, no big name contenders.
you guys have gone too far in the other direction just because AJ got stopped by a fat cunt probably not in the top 10 does not erase wilders performances against Molina, Stiverne 1, Szpilka etc his skill level is terrible and inferior to not only Joshua's but the majority of heavyweights doesn't change the fact he sparks them all out but to say he won't be taking earshots from Ruiz because he's just that much better than him is retarded
Sebastian Lewis
they were good boys that made a promise to mama to never fight
Wilder's technique his horrendous but for some reason I can't explain he doesn't give off the same aura of being a fraud as AJ does
Mason Carter
It's the retard strength he packs despite being a lanklet fuck which gives him a good chance in any fight
Blake Diaz
Because his "bad" technique still works. He does things you're not supposed to do. He breaks the "meta" of boxing and it makes him more unpredictable like RJJ and Prince Naseem.
Nathan Walker
Second fight was a legit draw. Triple G won the first by 4 rounds
Mason White
>ruiz would never clock fury that cleanly cause fury was never "clocked" before? >and wilder would actually finish the job after getting a knockdown The ref finishes the job for Wilder at least as much as for Joshua.
Matthew James
Tyson Fury?
Samuel Lewis
youre as deluded a retard as britBUM AJ
remind me again how many losses Wilder has? and juicy j g string?
Ryan Cruz
AJ just turned out to be another british hypejob like Hamed, Khan and Price. UK babies just can't accept it. Fuck he's even worse, Khan has never quit before
Kevin Cox
>khan has never quit before lol
Austin Flores
if you're going to /int/ post can you at least increase the quality of your bait
Jaxson Taylor
Khan quit over getting hit in the thigh
Carson Young
they have 1 each, Wilder lost to Fury and was gifted a draw by corrupt American judges, the same ones that robbed GGG
Jayden Sanchez
Holy shit, imagine if AJ gassed this hard and had his hands down against Wilder. He would have literally had his head taken off.
tyson furys little bro dabbed on the fake chads in love island. big dick gyppo energy
Mason Lewis

Elijah Hill
I didn't realize getting hit in the groin was ok for you ladies Am I wrong? First fight outside of the UK and he gets his ass beaten. He thought the ref would be on his side like always
Wtf? He windmilled like crazy against Ortiz and Fury
Elijah Rodriguez
Shit, our meme magic is as powerful as /pol/'s now
David Russell
It was a fucking thigh punch you idiot
Gavin Bell
The biggest upset in recent history was choc getting beat by Rungvisai. Prove me wrong.
Joshua Brooks
We also memed the Ruiz fight into being and the subsequent AJ loss.
Easton Williams
AJ losing to Ruiz without anything happening in camp is possibly the worst. It's flat out humiliating if nothing actually happened to him to cause him to underperform and he really did get his ass beat by a 260lb fat Mexican guy. Imagine that, your car mechanic can probably beat the shit out of Anthony Joshua.
>whats a warmup fight clearly ruiz the way you were talking shit to wilder in the pre fight shill
Carson Mitchell
Suicide watch
Tyler Peterson
still shook up
Isaiah Hughes
THE PUSH by miller THE FLUSH by ruiz
g string is pushed and flushed
Jacob Miller
>has nightmares >has panic attacks >concussed multiple times within a short period >probably has CTE >his roid use will give him cancer >all of that 'muscle' will turn into fat when he gets old (if he even lives that long) >0 belts is it over for anthony johnson?
Ethan Cooper
Joshua-Ruiz is worse. Chocolatito-Rungvisai was a pretty big one, #1 P4P fighter getting upset by a guy only the hardcore of hardcore Boxing fans knew about.
But those who knew who Rungvisai was, were actually giving him really good chances of pulling the upset. For one, unlike Ruiz he actually was a world champion prior to facing Chocolatito. Second, he had actual top level KO wins against Sato and Salgado and was in a competitive fight with Cuadras and was getting the better of it before the cut caused a Technical Decision. Cuadras, who arguably beat Chocolatito only months before Rungvisai took a stab at him and pulled off the upset.
Meanwhile Joshua was a 3 title Heavyweight champion whose hardest fight was against an ATG Heavyweight fighting a fat Mexican whose best praise from every pundit was "He maybe deserved a narrow decision over a guy Joshua decisively beat." Ruiz came in fatter than ever, had been pretty inactive until recently, and no one really would have placed him on the elite level, even the hardcores who had seem him fight plenty.
So for that I think Joshua-Ruiz is the bigger upset, even if Chocolatito-Rungvisai was pretty big.
He must’ve been extremely concussed lmao why did his trainer send him out for so many rounds?
Jaxon Robinson
hes gonna either take the slimpill like wilder or the gutpull and become fat for next fight.
Gavin Lewis
23:05 in London, AJ can't stop crying into his bodypillow over the FLUSHING
Kevin Mitchell
Man, Joshua getting upset is one thing, but the real thing that satisfies me is that he got dropped 4 times and quit in his first fight in the USA against a major underdog. Especially after all that arrogant talk about taking over the USA. Now he and Eddie Hearn are ATM absolutely BEGGING Ruiz and Al Haymon to let them take the fight back to the UK.
So much for the British takeover. Welcome to America, G-String.
>publicly stated >no source except a dumb fan page
Christian Miller
Rolls will beat GGG I feel
Brody Rogers
/box/ singlehandedly meme'd AJ's first loss into reality. based
Dylan Garcia
KO'D in sparring AGAIN
by that bum kabayel lmao
Adrian Bennett
I like how much bullshit is being spread around about AJ's reasons for losing the fight. And I mean that unironically. So many people are rushing to craft up stories about why AJ got his ass beat in such a humiliating fashion, all creative and hilarious stories like getting knocked out by some 19-7-2 overweight White American Heavyweight named Dawejko while at the same time also losing to an overweight refugee Kabayel and having a panic attack at the same time.
Mason Thomas
I'm not a fan of the bodybuilder but >sparring stories You're smarter than this aren't you /box/? Just seems like people are trying to find excuses for him. Joshua just fought a guy with a good chin who wanted to bang with him
this nathan gorman looking nigga says wilder ducked him.
Dominic Baker
the kabayel bit seems way too detailed to be fake tho
Aaron Rivera
why release it though it makes him look even worse. getting knocked out left and right in sparring etc. the aura of invincibility is well and truly gone
Camden Morgan
Getting knocked out by dawejko and having a panic attack is not an excuse lmao. Getting knocked out by someone dawejko in sparring should literally never happen to a champion. All these "excuses" only make AJ look like a bigger bitch
Gavin Edwards
this desu. guy had hard hands, good chin and a lot of heart. after that knockdown most of joshuas opponants would have taken the easy way out but this guy was like fuck it im gonna go out swinging and he pulled it out.
Julian Peterson
punished AJ arc now boys
Christopher James
>the kabayel bit its been retracted and people are saying it was dawejko instead. Makes more sense since Dawejko was in Joshua's camp and has a similar style to ruiz
Easton King
Why didn't AJ just juice more?
Jaxon Robinson
gonna enjoy AJ-price, AJ-allen, AJ chisora 2 on the joyce title fight undercard
James Bell
>Hard Hands Ruiz has never been thought of as that hard of a puncher. Even his record reflects it.
Lucas Davis
The nightmares got to him
Leo Martin
Nothing. Its pseudoscience.
Kevin Kelly
What an absolute chinlet. A light breeze could make him see stars.

‘The difference is Fury, Wilder and Ruiz are BORN fighters, whereas Joshua is a MADE fighter’ - Teddy Atlas
A great night for boxing over marketing.

>implying its possible to juice more than AJ they dont call him juicy j for nothin
Leo Ramirez
*physically dominates englands national heavyweight boxing hero*
>had a panic attack before the fight lol he should of have his fight in faggot ass los angeles. he obviously couldn't handle the nyc pressure. not many can.
Connor Johnson
>everyone is bumming Fury now that Joshua got exposed You all will be denouncing him soon, moving onto the true consensus contender
What the hell? Atlas always seemed to like AJ and hated Wilder and kind of disliked Fury. Where the hell did this sudden spite for AJ come, acting like he was always aware of what a fraud G-string Josh was.
I fucking hate Teddy Atlas.
Adrian Sanchez

What actually happens is they take the winner of Price and Allen then wait for the IBF to get stripped from Ruiz, fight Charles Martin again for the vacant belt and milk it on PPV til Joshua is 40.
Jace Campbell
I hope he loses weight and fucks up the welterweight division
