The AJ hype train started rolling because he's an olympic champion. Problem is that Olympic boxing doesn't test a fighter's chin much as the fight are more about volume than power. Bong medias just blindly jump aboard the hype train

I wonder how Breazeale feels right now. During the entire build-up to the Wilder fight he kept going on about how Wilder is nothing compared to AJ, and how AJ is a super competent boxer and that it would be embarassing to lose to someone like Wilder.
Only to then get knocked out in 1 round by Wilder, and two weeks later for AJ to end up getting knocked out by a fat Mexican. He talked so much shit and literally all of it came back to spite him.
unfortunately this wont really hurt AJs stock much yet.
the rematch will be highly anticipated, and no doubt fought in the UK so AJ will have everything stacked in his favour. ruiz needs to heem the bodybuilder a second time to really end the AJ meme.

As we've been saying on Friday Anthony Johnson is a HEARTLET.
Elijah Gonzalez
Joshua looks so fucking lost jesus they should have let him go straight to the hospital after the fight was over.
Jason Gonzalez
fury got dropped in two different rounds, when he outlanded Wilder in 7 of the rounds it was by the VERY thin margin of 1 or 2 punches, and even then couldn't outland Wilder in every round outside of the knockdown rounds.
Henry White

Imagine the britcucks who stayed up until 5am and payed 20$ to see AJ gets sparked out by a fat mexican on Sky PPV
I'm worried about this too, the ref and the cards being stacked against Ruiz, but ultimately it doesn't matter because AJ is a heartlet and a chinlet. No amount of Instagram videos will ever change this
It was a close fight. Taylor would have been stopped if it went another round but I think she won most of the first 3/4 of the fight so she banked a lot of those early rounds before the cop turned the fight in her favor
Just had a moment to watch the fight, random thoughts from a casual;
>He fucking quit. Don't feel it's mentioned enough in the aftermath.
>Joshua looks real awkward, even before he was rocked. It's like a newbie who isn't comfortable shifting his weight when punching. Reminds me of myself the first few months after changing from southpaw to regular stance (right handed, left legged, kickboxing coach had me doing powerleg back)
>Joshua's trainers are trying to make him a lesser version of Klitschko/Lewis. Is it because they know he doesn't take a punch well, or why.
>The lack of fighter spirit is really disturbing throughout the fight and even the acting after the fight. I'd say it's even bad for the sports rep.
>In the rematch the referee will be ordered to break up fights real quick. Ruiz won't get a chance to infight and will rely completely on counters. He will have to finish a second time in order to win. AJ could literally just jab-clinch to a win. Remains to be seen if he is savvy enough to stick to that.
>I like Andy Ruiz Jr. and am really rooting for a cheeky snickers commercial.

Has everyone forgotten how atrocious Wilders resume is? Le flailing arms man has beaten a 50 year old Ortiz and that is literally it. In 12 months time that will still be the case. AJ getting clocked doesn't change the fact Wilder is a bum and can't even sell out elementary school recreation gyms.
Gabriel Gomez
Also, there is no doubt in my mind that AJ is on the spectrum. His eyes never change; knocked down, pressuring, being pressured, he has the exact same look on his face constantly, and the same dead stare.
my advice to AJ: become an Instagram influencer or crossfitter. He ain't made for the fighting game.
Hudson Price
Happy birthday

The funny thing, is that as a wilder fan I'm always prepared for the possibility that he's going to be knocked just from the ultra high risk way he fights. But it looks like no Joshua fan ever expected him to get stopped

It was obviously rigged. Eddie Hearn fixed that shit so hard even the Brits were calling out the robbery, Persoon deserved the W.

I think after Fury-Wilder heavyweight refs are extra careful with giving fighters the benefit of the doubt. Yesterday's fight could've been waved off much sooner

Why did Joshua lose? Was he not prepared because Ruiz was a replacement, was Ruiz a bad style matchup for him, or is he just not as good as advertised?

the fact that you even use this gay abbreviation (which I had to google) shows what a fucking faggot (and by faggot I literally mean gay) are. Holy shit. Go black to playing Tennis.
I didnt watch it but >A lot of observers felt Persoon beat Katie Taylor..... so many observers that even a major UK newspaper jumped the gun and posted a headline "Heartbreak for Taylor as she suffers world title loss to Persoon" - and then quickly changed it after the scores were read. twitter.com/boxingscene/status/1134996528773226496 Sounds very shady to me
Most people who say that most people who say "most people who say 'most people don't know shit about boxing don't know shit about boxing'", don't know shit about boxing.
AJ was up on one of the cards so you know what was going on

complacency never in my life heard a fighter in the corner ask the shit he was asking literally looked like he rolled out of bed for this and didn't train at all

James Bailey
no, a rematch will be in the contract
Jack Walker
Its like he didn't watch tape of ruiz at all. There was a boxingscene article where he says He hopes Ruiz comes to fight like holy shit you retard. I'm pretty sure he thought Ruiz was a can like miller
fuck that if wilder becomes undisputed you can guarantee he will duck fury and joshua forever and continue to fight bums like he did with his first 37 fights
Logan Myers
>was Ruiz a bad style matchup for him in-fighters are generally not a good matchup for him, he doesn't know how to handle them without the ref's help if only there was a good one that wasn't old and busted like Takam and Povetkin, AJ would have been exposed a lot sooner imagine him fighting a prime Tyson or Tua

Wilder's style of punching does not rely on his legs.. besides, he already has more than enough of power. Bigger would worsen his stamina.

Boxing is an artform and a clash of personalities. It is the greatest sport known to mankind for its dual nature of sporting classiness and bestial brutality. It is the oxymoronic nature of elevating violence and putting it on a pedestal. It is simultaneously subhuman and post-human. This athlete stuff can fuck off. I'm so glad AJ's modelling career is almost over
Fury is great, don't tar him with the same brush lad. I don't act like a faggot bashing Wilder because he's great too

He actually does though. People forget AJ knocked Ruiz down before he got concussed. AJ underestimated Ruiz.

"I don't think there is a result for Joshua that won't bring some kind of criticism," says Mike Costello, who will commentate for BBC Radio 5 Live from ringside.
"If he blows Ruiz away in a round, everyone says he is an unworthy opponent. If he takes 12 rounds, people will talk about decline.
"I think this is about Joshua appeasing himself and his team. They have to exist in a tunnel around this fight."
Joshua says he hopes to face Fury next but such a bout is unlikely to take place for 12 months. For now, perhaps becoming the first man to stop Ruiz inside the distance will be enough to win praise.
"There is no sweet spot in this fight and he is not the first heavyweight champion going in there knowing no matter what he does he will be criticised," reckons 5 Live analyst Steve Bunce. "There is no sweet spot, there is just victory and moving on."
Landon King
The road is paved for punished parker Also the other polack can fuck off, i am here
I guarantee you either The Ring or TBRB or both will have their heavyweight rankings be; >1. Tyson Fury >2. Andy Ruiz Jr. >3. Deontay Wilder >4. Anthony Joshua Just to cock block Wilder-Fury 2 as being a fight for their """lineal""" title.
Jack Rogers
I am not whoever you were talking to, I just pointed out what you said, which is that wilder's style of punching does not rely on his legs

Why were the top 3 seen as unbeatable fighters? fury has been knocked down by cunningham before, wilder rocked and nearly tko'd by ortiz and joshua been ko'd in sparring multiple times and by vlad. Any fighter can be beat. Out of the top 3 or should i say 4 now, fury is the best, followed by wilder and then joshua/ruiz
Jason Jones

joshua was doing a job on ruiz when he was jabbing at range and its what opened up the first opportunity when he kd'd ruiz. it was when he leaned in is when he got caught and never truly recovered but during the following rounds he was still having great success at range with the jab and tagging ruiz multiple times with the one-two. again, when he leaned in is when he got caught again in the 7th and it was all over.
Owen Mitchell

It wasn't controversial because it was a close fight, regardless andy did enough to win if the fight was to be scored fairly without hometown advantage. Same thing happened with katie taylor and delfine, it was a very close fight with delfine winning but taylor getting the decision. You can say it was eddie bribing or katie being a bigger name and thus bringing more money but the end result is that boxing is corrupt.

What does rankings have to do with the lineal title? Also, according to the Ring rulings, their belt can still be on the line if the first ranked fighter fights the second ranked boxer
William Scott
I never had one, and I was at a coffee machine in a car dealership waiting for my car, I grabbed a mug and put it under the nozzle and hit espresso, having no clue what I was doing, I thought the machine was broken when a little squirt came out, so I hit it again, same result, playing it cool, I added sugar and milk, then casually sat down, then preceded to take a large gulp of the coffee, immediately I spat it out, luckily the cup was still in front of me and didn't completely embarrass myself.
Jaxon Cruz
When you add up all the ways this is humiliating like that, holy shit.
Ruiz beat AJ so bad, AJ is gonna start watching videos of Mexican guys banging black bitches.
it depends if it was just a fluke or he has been exposed. was this a lucky punch or were all the sparring stories about him being a chinlet with no stamina were true, and if he cant handle people just pressuring him and getting in his face its an easy strategy to follow. we will see if hes on lewis' level, but i doubt it.
Isaiah Nguyen
So who's next Charlo got exposed, Hurd got exposed now Joshua got exposed is Wilder next ???

>Olympian
Schroob took a peak at Ruiz' wikipedia page before making this post
i don't think he's anywhere close to Lewis, no one in this era is. but fans have short memories and winning rectifies every problem. unless he doesn't, of course.
Cameron Walker
Not a lucky punch at all. Ruiz got 4 knockdowns, and while you could argue that the last 3 AJ was already concussed, the first one was clean as fuck. AJ is simply a chinlet, which is manageable in boxing, but unfortunately for him he is also a heartlet and brainlet.
Elijah Reyes

Notice the air quotes around the lineal title. Fury is currently the lineal title either way, but their own personal """lineal""" title is what i'm referring to. In TBRB and The Ring a champion is formed with the #1 and #2 fighter ranked by them fight, so the winner of Wilder-Fury 2 should be recognized as lineal by them if they were sane, but chances are they'll rank Wilder #3 and Ruiz #2 just because they're salty as fuck.
Samuel Perez
What? Dude he is just trying to leech AJ "fans", what has being PC got to do with it? Should he call him a nigger? lel
Eli Rodriguez
Fury is just doing this thing as per usual, acting all sweet now, but he'll start trash talking in a bit.
Luis Parker
Reminds me of Russell Brand. He's trying hard to curb the things which make people like him but causes himself a lot of trouble. Brand was never likeable though
Oliver Ortiz
he did get knocked down 4 times, but he was done by the first one. the fight was over then and there. for the next 3 rounds he went back to his corner and asked what punch dropped him despite being told 3 times. and then round 6 he says 'why am i feeling so dizzy' and the corner just ignores him. the first knockdown just concussed him and he was walking dead since then.
TBRB has nothing to do with it, its the Ring Magazine
Nicholas Allen
I just explained to you that Ring can recognize a champion even if the #1 and #3 fight
Justin Powell
TBRB nowadays is considered more reputable, cazzie.
Ethan Turner
>literally no one gave a fuck about the Pbc card Even pbc fighters were watching Joshua/Ruiz

I said before but can you even blame him for his tweet. Joshua and Hearn had been messing with him for years throwing lowball offers for fights and telling him he needs to accept it before he loses and ruins it. The second he has his own thing going on with Fury they finally get serious and then Joshua implodes on his US debut. He must feel so vindicated especially since they kept sayng he was ducking them
Xavier Gomez
doesn't matter. Ring Magazine belt is what symbolizes the lineal title.

Hahahah those annoying arrogant Uk Fans on here. Haha what just happened ?
Told you.Whenever your glass chin, hyped up boxers step foot on American soil they always get put in their place.
Hamed, Lewis, Hatton, Khan, Bruno, Froch and now you can add Joshua. Wilder would send Joshua to the hospital. All you Hearn ****riders now what ?
I like Joshua, but it’s his nationalistic fans and arrogant promoter that made me cheer tonight and makes me cheer against AJ
Hahha uk sissies. You can have Joshua back now and you can say bye bye to any chance of now becoming a American superstar. You can keep him in the Uk for as long as you like now America is done with him. Keep filling out those cheap stadiums with £20 PPV for your glass chin hyped up sissy.
And as for Eddie Hearn this is just the start. He’ll be put out of business now Arum and Haymon are friends again. Welcome to America limeys...

>NEW YORK – Eddie Hearn is certain Anthony Joshua will be devastated once the reality of his professional defeat sinks in.
>Joshua’s outspoken promoter also senses that the wildly popular superstar is somewhat relieved now that he has lost. Ruiz’s stunning, seventh-round stoppage Saturday night cost Joshua and Hearn’s company, Matchroom Boxing, a lot of money, most notably for a showdown with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
No joke I was pretty surprised people thought Joshua would just steamroll pulev back then I thought it be competitve at least but damn Pulev could've destroyed him.
Noah Scott
matchroom damage control. first they said it wasnt his account, then the claimed he was hacked.
Nathan Smith
Who wins between Ruiz and Fury? I think Ruiz actually might be faster, and Fury could end up in a compromised position from having to bend over the whole fight to hit him. Its also all over for Fury if Ruiz keeps it a close exchange type of fight. Theres a new sheriff in town, lads.
Fury actually use his size advantage and would never let Ruiz get near him tho
Josiah Anderson

No. Fury is even bigger than AJ and is actual backfoot boxer who's more defensively minded. Wilder is fast fuck and he harder time matching fury' speed, ruiz comes up too short

says if aj loses the rematch hes done says ruiz has a higher fight iq, is a veteran and aj isnt (despite being a gold medal amateur) wants the rematch in the uk says aj was acting weird in the post fight because he had a concussion the next fight will be in september ruiz has to accept the rematch or give up the belts if ruiz wins the rematch he will fight wilder says if aj was a pussy he could have fought charr, hunter, bryan but wanted a real opponant says aj was foolish to try and trade with ruiz says the pressure crumbled him mentally, of being undefeated champ etc and the hype weighed on him and hes relieved to lose
Joshua Gray
Size advantage doesnt help if the distance is closed. Size advantage hurts you in close exchanges. Hes defensively minded and moves faster than AJ sure, but can he move his entire 6'8 body faster than Ruiz can move his hands? Fighting against Wilder was actually to Fury's benefit because Wilder's long reach means more time between shots. So the defense we think we would expect out of Fury might not actually be that great against Ruiz. Im not sure Fury could put him down either. And if it goes to points, I dont know that Fury can win on points if Ruiz keeps stepping into his range.
Fury has a lot of different punches he can use effectively, he wouldn't let Ruiz get close to him and it would probably end in like an 8th round TKO. If Ruiz gets a good trainer and works on his slipping and dodging he could be effective though. The guy is a really good counter puncher

They at least tried to get Ortiz, and got Ruiz, the next best guy they could get. They should have fought Hunter though. They fucked up and overestimated themselves by getting Ruiz though.

just like Bellew after the Usyk knockout. also repeating himself. just like Bellew.
Charles Morris
>despite being a gold medal amateur >which he was gifted through a typical british robbery
there was a world where miller didnt fail his test, AJ beat him, then white rhino beats chisora/another middling contender and gets the AJ fight on the back of fans wanting it, and he knocks AJ out like ruiz did
can you imagine living in that world. we were fairly close
There was No rematch clause already confirmed by joshua himself
Adam Jenkins
>I stated watching boxing in the Floyd era and every year I'm realizing just how special he was to remain on top for so long. A true once in a lifetime fighter
I only realised this once he retired. Fury reminds me of Floyd a lot, they both realise that boxing is a game and completely detach their egos from the goal of winning, if that makes sense. They both know how to win and do it well.
Floyd was special to watch. All these guys right now at the top; Lomachenko, Crawford, Inoue, Spence, Usyk, Canelo... They're all going to take L's in their careers going forward. We'll never see a fighter as dominant and seemingly invincible as Floyd in our lifetimes.
tfw no chin (except im froch in the ring) and average beard genetics.
Hudson Smith
he's no Wanheng Menayothin that's for damn sure
Ethan Lewis
bullshit, it was the first thing they asked about after the fight
Leo Thompson
To be the consensus p4p#1 for nearly a decade is so impressive considering we've gone through multiple p4p#1 gusy since he retired and there's not even a definite consensus now.
Nathan Nelson
perhaps, but the top is wide open for him, he has ever reason to be motivated to get in better shape.
kek from being the number 1 heavweight in the world with 3 belts and undefeated to having your game being picked apart by dave fucking allen within 24 hours
LMAO fucking hell
Ethan Ortiz
>They're all going to take L's in their careers going forward. 2 of those names already lost.
Daniel James
Floyd was probably the most successful fighter of all time granted, but him and Fury both are the most professional fighters ever, they treat it like a profession and don't get sucked in to any egotistical nonsense
Dylan Young
How weak is the current HW division?
Jaxon Smith
Floyd was a faggot and ruined the culture of boxing with a focus on protecting his record and putting all value on the '0'
Jack Rodriguez
You Brits move on from one meme to the next instantly
Matthew Morgan
>going forward
Hunter Cox
the Joyceposter has been a pest for months casual
Alexander Campbell
I'd pick Allen to KO Joshua unironically
Andrew Barnes
>hatton fans still seething lol.
Juan Martinez
>ive known and sparred with joshua for 8 years and he hasnt improved as a boxer
holy shit femi is a fucking fraud unironically.
William Cruz
>when you that realise wilder turned 180 before breazeale even hit the ground man that ko was pure kino
James Ortiz
seethe
Elijah Ramirez
the only reason you could think he left the sport in a better state than he found it is if you hate boxing and want to see it die
William Gomez
>fury fans actually believe this fury is a 80 iq dolt
Charles Long
nah, it wasn't the first one. It was the second one, against the ropes, that really did it
Kevin Bailey
Anthony Joshua = The Golden Boy Deontay Wilder = The Beast Tyson Fury = The Outcast Andy Ruiz = ???
Eli Jenkins
>Landing two punches in the same minute = outclassed and special to watch
State of this sad, constant clinching sport
Aaron Rogers
its like seeing a great empire crumble to dust, and the wool being removed from our eyes.
you know how everyone has wanted to say wilder cant box but couldnt because he had never lost, well it turns out they wanted to say the same about joshua
Hunter Evans
Joshua hasnt been active enough to improve, two fights a year doesnt cut it when you're a stiff novice, not everyone is Fury
Benjamin Nguyen
Don't hate the player, hate the game. Boxers aren't in charge of protecting boxing and leaving it in a better state that they found it. It's the rule maker's (aka the federations) job.
Ryder Kelly
let's not get carried away dude got koed by yoka
Isaac Watson
kek
Cameron Nelson
Isn't Andy Ruiz half-white?
Joseph Anderson
Floyd changed the game, he was in a position of completely unparalleled power and ended any chance of boxing ever returning to a 'golden era' with his faggotry
Jose Ross
m8 yoka is a future champ
Nolan Russell
>It's the ... federations job. If this is true, this is why boxing is fucked.
Isaac Foster
lad really
Connor Roberts
Allen really does have a point about how bad for AJ it is that his aura of invincibility has been torn away from him by Ruiz. From now on every opponent Joshua fights is going to be even more game, they're all going to train twice as hard and fight three times as hard. Unless he can somehow prove that his chin isn't weak, that he has bucket loads of hard, and also absolutely destroy Ruiz in the rematch, there's no regaining that invincibility he just lost last night.
Everything for Joshua is in question right now; His durability, his heart, his skill, his power. We know where Fury and Wilder lie in all four of those attributes. Fury has no power but a tremendous amount of skill, heart, and decent durability. Wilder has a limited skillset, but has generational power, a lot of heart, and while he can be hurt he also has enough durability to take a lot of punishment and stay standing.
Josiah Lopez
This is unironically why Wilder beat a parade of bums before stepping up. His team made sure he was a as ready as he could be
Federations have been the main problem in boxing for a while now
Blake Gutierrez
oh for sure b schaub is the greatest mind in the sport 1 hunned
Asher Rodriguez
Didn't he get exposed in his last fight or am I confusing him with someone else?
Jacob Adams
Wilder can fight twice a year now, shit, once a year, and wont lose a step, he is as good as he ever will be, the finished article. Joshua isnt but because Hearn is a faggot who insisted in him boxing only in football stadiums, he stagnated through not getting enough ring time (right after the Wlad fight when this became regular) and now he's toast.
Xavier Roberts
Agree. Not sure how it could be helped, though.
Charles Rogers
>full ya He's 100% right
John Edwards
Gotta feel bad for Usyk. He could beat AJ with handspeed and movement and now he lost his big payday.
Camden Collins
Based Stephen A spitting the truth
William Lopez
Usyk is a bum
Ayden Williams
Nah Joshua is cooked as well. As repeated ad nauseam, joshua tried to change up his style into a more technical boxer style but he just couldn't make the switch. He's 29, it's the same thing as Eubank jr, it's incredibly hard to change now especially as a late starter.
Joshua Perry
Joshua is still in control, weirdly, he can take the rematch if he chooses, and if he prepares properly, he can win it, and its a completely different story. But if he loses, his career is as good as over.
Daniel Gomez
Not saying every other sports' federations are perfect but most sports fans don't spend their time complaining about how their federations work unlike we do in boxing.
Josiah Evans
>disgrace
Eli Reed
Ruiz jr vs Usyk would be a great fight though.
Kevin Lee
is there a /box/ approved list of active fighters that ARENT bums?
Isaiah Peterson
I think the most technical we ever saw him fight was against Wlad, that's still his most complete and competent performance, he never got better, because he never fought often enough to get better.
Kevin Harris
Loma Fury Usyk
Eli Richardson
>Ruiz >Fury >GGG >Pac Man >Loma >Inoue
Basically it
Logan Gomez
He’s too predictable with his jab
Tyler Sanders
Al Haymon probably wants to bring all 4 belts to his side if Ruiz beats AJ again.
hed do best as just a shit klit brother, high guard jab and straight right, big range and use your size to muscle people about. but his trainer bought into the meme and is trying to teach him advanced shit
Asher Ramirez
Ruiz's nickname is fitting. He's a destroyer, a destroyer of career. If you're a top heavyweight and lose against a small fatty, you instantly become a laughing stock and your career is almost immediatly destroyed
Tyler Allen
yeah amazing how cherrypicking can go just right sometimes
That's what they tried to get him to do but joshua has too much trouble with distance and rhythm that boxers need. Even against Parker he was getting confused by parker's triple jabs despite having a 6 inch reach and won that because parker couldn't work on the inside.
