Pirlo was a great player but he still is massively overrated.
Even his passing skills, while great, were not on the same level as others of that generation (for example Totti even though he played in a completely different position) and he was a very one trick pony kind of player. You weren't going to get more than good passes and good free kicks from Pirlo.

He could put the ball on your foot while you were sprinting from all distances, with both feet and both on first touch and after controlling it.
