What is the point of having this country in a confederation where no one else can actually beat them?

I understand they probably like having to win a grand total of one series to qualify for the world cup, but their presence renders the OFC completely meaningless.
Why hasn't FIFA made them fuck off to AFC or something by now?

it's not like if they leave the ofc will suddenly become meaningful

>New Zealand transfers to Asia
>Oceania becomes more competitive
>Carribean forms their own federation
>playoff between the two for a WC spot
>remaining CONCACAF nations merge with CONMEBOL
>split AFC into Orient (East), Central and Arabic (West)

Two points.

First, we don't want to be in the OFC. Nobody wants to be in the OFC. It's literally the left-overs after all the other confederations were formed. (Australia keeps trying to escape to Asia, the AFC keep pushing them back.)

Secondly, it's nice that you think the All Whites are thrashing the island teams all the time but we didn't even make the final of the OFC Nations Cup in 2012 and only beat PNG on penalties in 2016.

Is there a Norf v Souf rivalry in NZ?

>Australia keeps trying to escape to Asia, the AFC keep pushing them back.
Australia have been in AFC for a while now

not really, there's sort of a rest of nz v auckland rivalry but it seems to have settled down in recent years

It would. Not to the rest of the world, of course, but at least to the other OFC countries

Right, but I've got to imagine it's kind of like when they have the world cup of american football or shit like that, where occasionally some team "beats" us but it's only because we don't give a shit about it and send college players no one cares about
You can't tell me any of your players are real stoked to go play in the fucking OFC Nations Cup, if they even show up at all.

Town v. Country is a bigger divide. Townies are effete latte-sipping wankers, Country boys are beer-swilling sheepfuckers.

Australia formed the OFC in '66, then left in '72 to try getting into Asia, then came back to the OFC in '78, They finally got into Asia in '06, but there have been bids to remove them (most prominently when the West Asian federations had a tilt in 2015).

You're very kind but our Nations Cup squads rarely miss more than a few of our top players.

>most prominently when the West Asian federations had a tilt in 2015

AFC probably needs to split up for the sake of travel, but that's another issue for another thread

Thaiti beaten they few years ago.

So what when we stop being as good we go back to OFC?
Fucking brainlets man...

nah going to asia is where we should be. Being in OFC is a waste of everyone's time.

Asia and Oceania combined and then split into east-west would work. But then again Oceania is getting a spot in the 48 team finals, and has a confederation vote, so it might be better to status quo. In rugby, Oceania is very strong.

>In rugby, Oceania is very strong.
Their players make up 30% of all the national teams, but the grand total of 15 people that live in the pacific mean those nations get shit all to say.

Oceania Rugby Federation members include Australia and New Zealand.

>when they gave the Spanish players handmade necklaces as a gift
Soul.

they already do this for the champions league, and the east beats the west in the final for like 10 years in a row

The perfect confederations:
>Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, South America
>East Asia, Oceania, USA and Canada join a Trans-Pacific Confederation
>West Asia, Turkey, Central Asia, and North Africa
>Subsaharan Africa
>UEFA as it is minus Turkey

the orient is west asia you retard

>East Asia, Oceania, USA and Canada join a Trans-Pacific Confederation
honestly believe between japan, sk and nz under this configuration the usa never make a WC again

I'm sure that WC allocations would be restructured.

Japan is in the West?

You've got to have at least one decent team from OFC that is worthy of playing in the world cup. And think in NZ's perspective, they have a very good chance of playing in the biggest football event in the world despite having a very amateur league and average team. They would want to stay in OFC.

bretty based 2bh

What does the nz accent sound like? Is it just australian?

Imagine an Australian pinching his nose.

>East Asia, Oceania, USA and Canada join a Trans-Pacific Confederation
>you in charge of realizing how fucking big the Pacific Ocean is

Why the absolute fuck would the US agree to fly half way around the fucking earth just for an international friendly.

>where no one else can actually beat them?
AHEM !

Tahiti didn't beat NZ when they won 2012 OFC Nations Cup. NZ has been beat by New Caledonia in semifinal, but New Caledonia has been beat by Tahiti in final.

leave out america and canada and you're golden
