I was actually curious. I just googled “best soccer game”. In the first 1:30 there was roughly 20 seconds of ball advancement. So in a 90 minute match about 20 minutes of action. Equivalent to 13 minutes in american football. Which is only 2 minutes more than an average regular season game

In basketball you almost never have a guy miss a pass under pressure. It's simply too easy to just pass the ball and dribble for 5 minutes if you can use your hands. In football ball is always easy to intercept if you are in right place under right time. That makes keeping the ball a skill in its own right and controlling the field a vital part of the match. The refs always aim for 50~60% minimum of action in football games, at least in Brasileirao, and there is stoppage time for refs to ensure that.

Football, in this country at least isnt just about entertainment. Its about community and history, a super league would take that all away.
