Only Manhattan (below 125th) and Brooklyn (the nice parts) are remotely pleasing to the eye. Everything else is just endless poop brown apartment buildings and shitty bodegas. As a whole it might be one of the ugliest cities in the western world. The skyline doesn't count for shit unless you're in Jersey looking across the river or you happen to live in a pricey high rise with a view.
