I support my local collegiate summer baseball team, we used to have a AAA team, but they got kicked out for fucking soccer.. There's been rumors about us maybe getting an MLB team, and, while I won't believe it until I see it, I'll likely be a fan from day one if it happens.
I really should try to go to most Junior Hockey Games.
Hell I went to some of our fucking Arena football games when that was a thing.
The Timbers being good will not get me to bandwagon enough to get me to care about soccer, especially when I am still salty about losing the Beavers to them.

My team is in tier 1 but we've been battling relegation since 2015 due to lack of financial support and the rest of the Pro League getting money from England and Spain (Al Jazira's basically Man City's sister club and Shabab Al Ahli players have trained in Spain) so it was a difficult ride for us and add with the fact that refs are against us and you have a recipe for one of the hardest relegation fights ever, but we're the only small team to have not been relegated for a while unlike Fujairah and Ajman and we're proud of that

The US and UK are also different countries. The US is a relatively younger country so the ties with your local community don't go back hundreds of years (like they do in the UK I'm presuming) and there's a lot of much movement/relocation between cities
Also we have an aspirational culture where you may identify more with people with a common personality/temperament rather than location.
