I believe that we will win
If they made it into the last world cup, then it might have. Not qualifying seriously hurt the growth of the sport in the US, and most athletic men go for football, basketball, baseball, hockey, lacross, track over soccer.
You will NEVER win a WC
All you can, at the very most, is dream about being on Mexico's level, and they also suck
American sports don't share a talent pool with soccer, and soccer isn't about having the most athletic but the smartest and most skilled ones
Why would anyone pick lacross or track over soccer? Soccer is the sport that pays the most in the world
Yes. 2022 and 2026 confirmed coming home.
only if we redirect our military budget into our soccer budget
In what?
you don't know what you're talking about m8. you have no clue how things work here, and you shouldn't comment on it. also, obviously athleticism clearly isn't sufficient to be elite at the sport, but the fact that there are no elite players how are over 35 years old is an irrefutable demonstration that the "smartest and most skilled ones" also aren't sufficient.
So what you're saying is that we need to bomb other countries until we're the best in the world at soccer.
no, but its going to be our best team ever
No other country can be better at use than soccer if there aren't any other countries.
not even slightly
fuck berhalter and SUMmafia
biggest crime is canada got a fucking spot for free
yeah i know the US fucked up hard the last WC qualifying and was a joke, but canada is even less than a joke. it is nothing
wholesome and based: canadian premier league
cringe and yikes: major ponzi league
>caring about the purity of a sports league
lol kys user
it's literally a ponzi scheme. i'm not gonna care about it because they'll just flop.
im sorry..
do you guys genuinely seriously believe the US wont win at least 3 in the next 40 years?
do you guys know anything about money?
>but canada is even less than a joke.
Losing 8-1 to Honduras prior to the 2014 world cup.
>at least 3 in the next 40 years?
Probably won't even reach a semi-final
Huebros are poor as fuck and yet never failed to qualify
That's not true, it's basketball and it isn't even particularly close. A decent basketball player can stay in the league for 10 years and get paid 10 mil a year.
How the fuck is money supposed to help us grow a good national team?
Yes I think we can win.
China unironically can win it in 2030
>do you guys know anything about money?
I know money didn't manage to put ManCity, PSG, Madrid or Barcelona in this year's CL final.
>caring about sports
Sad!
Yeah because they're playing teams with the same amount of money in the CL. Money has helped them get to the CL for the past entire history of the CL
for a 25yo average team winning the WC in 2026 you'd have to have all your GOATs already trained and developed at around age 18, you have nothing of that right now
No but quarter or even semi-final should be possible
Home nations are always a threat. Getting to the semis would be enough of a leap for me. We'll also have the heat in our favor. Those frail euros will die in the heat. If we don't win it, Brazil or Mexico will.
Absolutely.
Pulisic will be in his prime then,
home nations usually make deep runs (see minnows S. Korea and Russia)
USA is better at soccer than both those countries.
We can surprise a lot of people.
Pulisic = Cro-American, represent!!!!
>Soccer is the sport pays most in the world
I don't know if you've noticed, but Americans for better or worse, don't care about what goes on in the rest of the world
>Why would anyone choose X sport over soccer
I don't think you understand just how little respect soccer gets in America/Canada.
That's not true, as our country becomes more diverse and international, we are starting to care more.
Soccer is about twice as big now as it was 10 years ago, and 10 years ago it was twice as big as it was 20 years ago.
We're more international looking than the Brits for sure, for whom the EPL is the end all for soccer, fuck the Continent.
Fucking retard. Money can't buy shit in the world cup.
Brazil, a third world country, has never failed to qualify. Meanwhile, we lose to some fucking nogs who have nothing to play for while complaining about a waterlogged pitch
We have a shot at, maybe one in 20 years time, at best.
Unless Pulisic literally becomes the new messi and drags the entire team to a final, I doubt it.
This
Retard, we need homegrown players.
>Those frail euros will die in the heat
Which is why Africans are a bonus when it comes to the world cup and why they're used in non-African teams. If the world cup was held somewhere it was overcast and raining constantly then England would be favourites, purely because it's "their kind of weather", and they wouldn't bother with the blacks (except for (((diversity))) reasons obviously).
Why do you think America couldn't beat the the Vietnamese or any of these shithole desert countries in combat? Protip: Because they're at the advantageous position and you're not. It's the same reason you never see Ghana represented in the winter Olympics.
this
>but the smartest and most skilled ones
The best footy players are dumb as rocks
Wrong.
Messi is autistic but not a retard, he concentrates on his craft. Ronaldo is narcissist but again, not retarded
every single footballer in europe speaks 20 languages, even the dumbest ones, give me a break. except for bale
>being multilingual means you aren’t retarded
Go to /int/ for five minutes
Why do Euro's speak so many languages?
I just want a knockout game between the US and England just for the memes, alone.
>see minnows S. Korea and Russia
I'll translate this from retardish
>see two countries known for sports corruption and match fixing
Argentina will win 2026, being the first WC after Messi retires.
Imagine if the US would win that game.
nice argument for a winter world cup
i would guess because they're surrounded by so many different languages in neighboring countries.
you wouldn't see a limey on Yea Forums for weeks.
As a sports business guy, I think this is the most accurate post in the thread.
You guys need to use your brains a bit. The league, the MLS youth leagues (that are now beating the best in the world), world coaches, facilities, sponsors, POPULATION, consistent production of world class athletes, etc etc.
The US will be a top 3 team for probably 30 out of the next 50 years, and im being conservative.
there would be an increase in posters from Scotland
Probably Ireland too.
>The US will be a top 3 team for probably 30 out of the next 50 years, and im being conservative.
No you're being delusional lol
In non-English language majority countries an education in English starts very early in school comparatively. I know that the Benelux countries put a huge amount of emphasis on this which is why most Dutchmen are like trilingual by their graduation. Also if you live in a country like Belgium which is the size of Connecticut but has five native ethno-linguistic groups you're either going to pick some up over time or choose to learn it to further your career.
If I'm not mistaken, football teams can/do provide 1-to-1 language classes to players and also the fact that their job depends on them mastering a foreign language incentivizes them to get better.
Also Romance languages are very similar to each other. French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian are very alike because they all descend from Latin. Germanic languages (English, German, Dutch, Scandinavian languages) are also very closely related, which means it's easier for them to learn. Take a look at these charts to see how similar they are.

lol lmao lol
Yeah man and MLS wont ever be anything either
>The league, the MLS youth leagues (that are now beating the best in the world)
I have sincere doubts that any MLS team, youth or otherwise, can beat Barcelona/Real Madrid and their respective youth teams. And no players are doing that either. Hell, our best player plays at dirtmund and got knocked out by spuds this year in the Champions League, blew their lead in the Bundesliga and played EL football last year. Weah is on loan away from PSG as well.
>world coaches, facilities, sponsors, POPULATION, consistent production of world class athletes
We have sponsors because they can make money here. You can make the argument for the facilities as well, but Fuck no we don't have world class coaching in soccer. The only world class coach we had was Tata Martino, who left to coach Mexico in their quest to get passed the RO16. And we do produce world class athletes, for basketball or something, because that's not the case for soccer. And population doesn't matter if they aren't playing the sport. Thankfully that's changing, but we'd need more time to have a fully grown, grassroots system. Money can give us the equipment but can't buy the talent. Ask PSG and Man City, they'll be the first to tell you that.
>The US will be a top 3 team for probably 30 out of the next 50 years, and im being conservative.
I can believe you in 50 years, but 30 is being very generous. Baby steps, first we have to be better than the best team in our confederation, which to be fair is an admittedly low bar, but still
Right now, Berhalter needs to focus on winning the gold cup in order to get that confederations cup spot in 2021 and also win back some national pride in the process. Just don't let Mexico win.
If PSG and Man City are so rich, they're academies must be other worldly and full of talent right?
>Be US
>Spend 10 months looking for a coach.
>Lopetgui is interested
>Turn him down
>later on just higher some meme MLS Coach
The USSF is the biggest pile of fecal matter and beta cucks who now down to the MLS.
Oh yeah, clearly. They have the European silverware to pr-
Oh wait...
MLStards are on another level good lord
*bow down to the MLS
What do you view as evidence that it will? Because they signed up a geriatric 75 year old Zlatan?
There is not a single world class MLS Player, foreign or otherwise. Not even in the academies are there kids who look to be it. As long as our clubs and NT keep hiring college soccer morons like Berhalter with zero tactical awareness or game plan beyond "give it your all and never give up!", you won't see any changes soon.
This, unironically
We had klinnsman who had a plan to fix everything, even the shitty college system (which we need to drop because the draft DOES NOT WORK FOR SOCCER) but got fired.
The MLS has the USSF in their pockets, is a joke and will continue to be a joke for decades to come.
you're 6 years late with this assessment and completely clueless. we've already switched to the academy system and it's already working.
>It's already working
We barely started sending players overseas to save themselves from staying in the MLS.
We still need to address the bigger issue of the USSF kissing the MLS's ass and the fact that we had a chance sof acquiring a decent manager and instead stuck with another meme MLS Coach.
why teams play 500x better when playing in their own house? this shit will always amaze me
our whole national team will soon be mls academy products who play overseas
And will we have a world class manager to make sure they win something? Or will it be some literal who?
Nah that's our year.
Most of the teams wont make it past the TSA so yea you got a fair chance at winning
> flag checks out.
Mexico has a better chance in winning than the US
no
>tripadvisor and trivago
i have no idea. wcq hasn't even started yet.
your goalposts are moving at an alarming rate tho
even in a group of 3 system you will probably be out by group stage cause youll get some shit like :
>US-Germany-Argentina
or somehow make it out then lose to ghana
Amerisharts are dreadful at most sports.
They have more boys playing regulated youth football than any country in Europe. They just have little athletic talent
The US women's team are world champions and world beaters, though. I just that kind of success would've rubbed off on the guys by now.
>It's already working
How many top prospects are we developing then? The only top prospects we have are Pulisic, McKennie, and Weah, all of whom were trained and coached outside of the MLS/college system because they had the money to do so.
Soccer girls are to busy rubbing each other off to rub off on our lads :/
They're bad at football because football is a cultural thing in most of Europe while in America it simply isn't.
Same reason basketball is essentially non-existent in Britain while the US is world domination tier.
Speaking of which, the women's world cup is next month, right? alongside the gold cup, the copa America and the Africa cup, we've got a lit of international football to watch next month.
Summer's always for international tournaments, footy never ends.
No. Quarterfinals should be possible with a bit of luck and the right development, but nothing more. You'll improve during the next years for sure, but actually reaching the European level will be very hard.
Yes. It's coming home, bros.
You are in no position to speak about football(soccer).
That was our semi-final, Hans ;_;
Baseball pay their most elite athletes about the same yearly as Soccer. Michael Jordan made more out of his basketball career in terms of reinvestments and is richer than any footballer that ever existed in the world.
>The more you know *
This, but unironically.
Canada is going to be better than the US at soccer once their youth development starts to pick up. The groundwork has been laid down.
Sorry guys.
Luckily for you, >we're on our way to being as shit as back then.
>Shit as back then
Your version of 'shit' is still better than our best
Football is the one sport 99% of the country is interested in. Handball for example is popular, too, but it's nothing compared to football/soccer. We've got multiple nice niche sports >we're decent or good at though. Some are growing nicely, but they'll never catch up.
However, the DFB really tried hard to oversleep all necessary changes and they succeeded. Now >we lack good young players, the only future GOAT is Havertz, but what can he do alone? The 2002 team was pretty much Kahn, Ballack, Klose, Frings and a bunch of literal whos. When focusing so much on a single sport, you're bound to produce class players on the regular. 2006-2014, everything was great, but now it isn't.
Start playing rugby.
Tell the Russians and Poles to increase their interest in it as well, so as we can have kino Ireland vs England vs France vs Germany vs Poland vs Russia games all the time.
PLEASE lend us your coaches, europe
we need a Low or Zidane or SOMEONE to help, we have no tactical depth at all
terrible post.
Here you go, lad.
kids still say represent?
sure here you go bro :)
still better than bruce arena
The real question is how come China is so shit? They have over a billion people.
Because it's not about money or population size, it's about a culturally engrained belief in your ability to play soccer. Some countries just see themselves, from the earliest age, as soccer playing countries. That's why america is richest and has not been successful, you can't just throw money at it.
There is almost a spiritual side to it, very hard to grasp this on a meaningful level.
More than any other sport, soccer is fluid, free, creative and unrestrained. Contrast that to NFL and mlb which are wrapped in layers of rules and laws so specific that you need a ton of time to just know what you can and can't do, while soccer you just kick run and create.
>England will go into the US World Cup as holders
Kino
>Is victory in 2026 realistic for >US?
Depends on how much we're willing to spend to bribe FIFA and the refs.
Not with My Little Sawker players, that's for sure.
God this argument is shit. Why doesn't the UK produce any handegg linebackers, I mean it has 10s of millions of people omg.
stupid post about MJ and his investments that has nothing to do with his actual salary.
you have to start using your mind a bit more
AYO GIVE US OLE
>as our country becomes more diverse
eg as we fill our country with spics
We literally care so little about soccer that we renamed football to soccer and use football for a game only we play.
Also, ice hockey is something I wish we were better at
>we've already switched to the academy system and it's already working.
It's barely working. You can count the number of "successful" academy products playing overseas in a relevant league on one hand. Unless you want to include MLS kids playing for their teams, then that's even more retarded.
mckennie is from fc dallas. weah was at red bulls academy. Tyler adams was red bulls through and through. Miazga red bulls. Carlos Salcedo RSL. Palmer Brown SKC. If your argument is that these guys aren't as good as the academies in the best countires, thanks for the input. No shit. It's the very first graduates since the system was put in place, and the results aren't meaningless.
how many should there be for something that just started sending kids to senior teams? You zoomers really don't know what the fuck you're talking about. even if we concede that it's coming along slowly, the central point that the college system needs to be scrapped is fucking plainly stupid
>do you guys genuinely seriously believe the US wont win at least 3 in the next 40 years?
There will be 10 WCs in the next 40 years. Winning 3/10? Only Brazil and Germany have ever pulled that off.
Mourinho would be based because he can work with shitters to make a nice counterattacking defensive team. For the first time our team's attack looks weaker than our defense since we have Ream, Brooks, Miazga, and Hedges stepping up for us along with some youth. We have two left footed CB's who can play in a back 3. Mourinho would be based
>only qualified once to the world cup
>out by group stage after :
>0-1 against France
>0-2 against Hungary
>0-2 against Soviets
actually they were world champions once
thats going Uruguay tier there , its best to never go Uruguay tier when talking about titles
we will never be good at divegrass
im already cringing at this wc because all the npcs and normies will be pretending they give a shit, out in force cheering for our shit tier mlels shitters. traffic horrible with third worlders everywhere. it will be greaat to see us lose early. hope we get a group with belgium, ghana, and t&t
