How would these prime lads fit in their teams in 2019?

How would these prime lads fit in their teams in 2019?
Could they improve the current squads and actually win major trophies?
Or they would get benched for Ngubus?

Attached: eplel.jpg (768x432, 102K)

they would all start, scholes cdm, lamps cm, gerrard cam, sterling right wing, kanecentre forward, rashford left wing

>would they win major trophies
They had a better supporting cast on the England national team when they didn't win shit.

Having said that, they'd all still be pretty good.

>lamps cm, gerrard cam
Wrong way round brainlet.

scholes would get in purely because the man u midfield is shit

lampard would get in purely because he's better than jorginho

gerrard would get in purely because he's a polished turd, with henderson being just a turd

>scholes cdm
m8 stick to AFL and stop posting your Football Manager fantasies

In a game where pressing high up the pitch and glorified kenyan marathon runners like Kante are praised they would have a very difficult time.

Another valuable asset is vision and passing. Lampard and Gerrard are known only because of their mid range and how many goals they scored.

Gerrard wouldn't start for Liverpool in this system. He doesnt have the pressing to do so. Klopp would have to change the way they play to fit him in therefore changing Liverpool as we know them (to a worst team probably)

Scholes would be the one to fit better in todays game because he never relied on scoring as much as the other two

Lampard/Kante/Jorginho would play for Chelsea. Gerrard/Henderson/Fabinho for Liverpool and Scholes/Pogba/??? for United

Gerrard in the bench

Young Gerrard definitely had the work rate to play for Klopp

Gerrard in his prime is basically a Pogba with more pace.

Declining Gerrard(After 2006) would not get into the team but prime can, so will the others.

City's midfield? No. Gerrard/Lampard wouldn't get in SAF's United as well. Not the way they played.

Nah. Gerrard was an attacking player in his prime

Would Becks start in today's Man U?

Attached: beckham1.jpg (968x647, 44K)

Both were attacking players. It wasn't until Gerrard's physical attributes declined that he was moved to a CM role forcefully. That was after 2006 at the age of 25.

Gerrard had one of the shortest peaks at the top, he could've stayed on top for 5 more years.

Guess that's what happens to every player at Liverpool.

But much less effective than Lampard.

Gerrard was still very much an attacking player while Torres was there, the was the attacking midfielder with Alonso and Mascherano behind him

Scholes is a fraud

I feel like Gerrard is one of those meme players that doesn't actually help his team at all when he plays, like Lukaku or Pogba

Current level of the PL is absurd. Messi probably wouldn't even start in any of the top 6 teams.

Yeah, but not good enough to win anything. I ended by saying 2006 was end of prime Gerrard which was the last year Liverpool won anything.

Rafa was pragmatic and that title challenge was down to Torres and his tactics alone.

Essentially, Liverpool were hamstrung by a player who did not take care of his body.

This feeling is true for post '06 Gerrard. He was carried by Torres and Alonso and their injury/departure exposed him. That's why Liverpool finished 7th in 09-10.

Lampard is the highest scoring midfielder and fourth highest scorer ever in pl history.
Gerrard was more box to box imo

Lmao if you think Gerrard is the reason Liverpool didn't win any trophies during that time I don't know what to say

I do think that. Those 07-10 teams were more than good enough to win something, FA/League cup, something.

If anyone watched Gerrard that time, his decline was staggeringly quick. Constant Hamstring injuries, declining pace meant he had to rely on his skills rather than his physicality. Lampard stayed athis peak far longer.

Depth was the biggest problem that Liverpool squad had, every time someone was injured or they needed a game changer off the bench they had to rely on shite like N'gog and El Zhar

Scholes would just have to ping it long to the pacy niggers, they would score 20 goals a season with him in midfield

Lampard+Hazard with Giroud up top would be a fucking threat

Gerrard would be an improvement over Wijnaldum

Irrelevant. Fucking Macheda won the league for United.

Also, Gerrard's ridiculously high wages hamstrung Liverpool as he did not deserve it during his decline.

>Squad depth is irrelevant
Macheda played 2 games for United that season he's hardly an accurate representation of their squad

>playing Lampard at cam
>playing a player who's main function involved spreading the play from deep and then reacting to the play ahead of him and arriving late in the box, in a position where most of the play would be behind him and he'd need to receive the ball from behind

You've outed yourself as the biggest brainet of all, Ancelotti tried to play Lampard at the tip of a diamond and it failed for exactly this reason.

Becham-Gerrard-Scholes-J.Cole
-----------------Lampard

They could've won 2002/04/06, what the fuck was Sven thinking

Lampard got into City's midfield despite having attacking talent like Silva and Toure and bossed it so much they extended his loan when he was 35 years old.

MUST. PLAY.4-4-2.

>Lampard CAM again

See Is everyone on this board zoomers now? Was nobody here around to watch the 2009/2010 season or what?

Yeah and Liverpool had Robbie Keane for the first half of the season.

They didn't lose the league because some squad players couldn't score goals just like how Liverpool didn't lose the league this year because they didn't have Mahrez on the bench. They choked, both times.

I meant Pep's midfield. It's not a slight on Lampard's quality. It's just Pep's preference for smaller built cam's with a higher quality on the ball.

Yeah, it's the season where Lampard scored the most goal in a season in his entire career

He just wasn't being played at the right position. That's the thing about him. He was so good at so many different roles they never knew where to put him.
If they played him more at AM/even false 9 instead of CM, especially later in his career where he shouldn't have had to been a workhorse, it would have been a lot better. Remember he even outscored Torres the 1 season he was SS

Absolutely this. And he'd dominate. Put Gerrard on this Liverpool team and they'd win everything this season.

>Liverpool had Robbie Keane for the first half of the season.
and which half of the season was it that they were top for?

What's scholes doing here? No trees to hit on the pitch

prime lampard would 100% start for chelsea, probably where they are currently playing kante, and would probably be top scorer. dunno if they'd have got any trophies, but would definitely be a few points closer to the top

gerrard would probably play instead of hendo but wouldn't make much difference to results

scholes would play because united's midfield is pure shit, but they still would have had a failure of a season

i hate that i didnt get to watch lampard in his prime

All 3 would be the best player on their teams by a country mile

Yeah without a doubt

yep, 100% true

Lampard combining with Giroud in the penalty area would be fucking kino

Diabolical comment

>Lampard stayed at his peak far longer
he was so fucking based. scored over 10 pl goals for 10 consecutive seasons from midfield. was rarely injured as well, i think he still has the record for most consecutive appearances for an outfield player - like 3 full seasons without missing a game

Confirmed for not actually watching football. When Gerrard started he was played in centre mid, even used as the defensive partner for Scholes in the England team. He scored the odd blooter, but from extreme range. Later they tried him wide and up front to balance the team; only after that did he move back to where he started - still too dumb to do the job properly.

Would easily start ahead of Henderson or Wijnaldum.

The man was a phenom. The spine of Drogba - Lamps - Terry - Cech is one of the best and performed under multiple managers with different styles. Chelsea have found it very difficult to replace these players.

No solo striker candidates?

lol its just retarderd gerrard fans that doesnt understand that gerrard was pure shit for them ever since he declined at the age of 25

>Ancelotti tried to play Lampard at the tip of a diamond and it failed for exactly this reason
Ancelotti failed in the year Lampard scored 27 goals in 51 games???

Attached: 1530402516677.png (500x500, 24K)

i remember when they trashed wigan 8-0. those players and kits were so kino

The first gif I saved off Yea Forums was Drogba playing the corner flag like a guitar from that game

lampard did not play at the tip of the diamond that year. it was mostly 4-3-3 with drogba leading the line, and malouda/kalou/joe cole/anelka rotating in the wide positions. he did sometimes play the diamond but in those cases it was deco in CAM behind drogba and anelka

yeah all those players got the perfect coaching at a young age from a young aged mourinho. It was a match made in heaven, and even though Mourinho left the players were so good they just kept on winning. The only semi decent manager they had between 2006-2013 was Ancelotti for 1 season. They didnt have a good manager until they hired Mourinho again in 2013.

But man those players were fucking sick. It also helped that every single player the chelsea board bought was almost always based. You had players like Carvalho, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Essien, Makelele, Ballack and Mikel who all did their role and stayed for relatively long times. It was literally the board and the players who were that good they didnt even need a manager.

it was so great. especially because the main criticism of them was lack of stability because of the turnover of managers (mainly from arsenal fans, who were being very stably guided to 4th place and no trophies for about a decade), but it basically just proved you don't need to stick with a manager for stability, just keep your style and your best players

who, specifically, was in charge of player recruitment at chelsea at the time? was it just left to jose?

yeah pretty sure it was jose when he was there - you can see his influence in the portuguese lot like ferreira, carvalho and tiago. at least for the first 2 seasons anyway - the beginning of the end for jose was when abramovich went over his head to bring in shevchenko, jose didn't want him and wouldn't play him and the relationship kinda fell apart over the following year

when he left they brought in emenalo as technical director who was pretty good as well

didnt chelsea have kinda shit signings between 2007-13?

well kinda i guess. the first few years didn't matter too much because the squad held together but other than probably ivanovic the first team didn't really improve. after that was the period where they brought all those great young players - like kdb, lukaku and salah, but we all know what happened there

yeah they failed to renew the squad once jose left

t. butthurt Manure customer who's too ashamed to admit it.

Only until he could get a transfer to a real team.

gerrard was easily the best athlete of all of them before his hip got blown out and he couldn't turn anymore, he would be fine in klopps system

prime gerrard would have won us the league this year, >we dropped points against wet spam etc because our strikers where out of form and our midfielders don't score, gerrard scored plenty and could have won us maybe 1 game from a drawing position and >we would have won the league

Nah m8, the Balon D'or runner up would be benched for Jesse Lingard.

>all these zoomers who think scholars could defend

Pirlo couldn't defend and he did fine there. Just put some N'Ggubus or Scotch people in front of him

>Gerrard wouldn't start for Liverpool in this system. He doesnt have the pressing to do so.

Bullshit, young Gerrard was a machine.

And if you think his work rate is lower than Coutinho's you might be insane

>gerrard would probably play instead of hendo but wouldn't make much difference to results

FUCKING ZOOMERS

Does anyone outside the UK actually rate these niggas? Also for me it's John Terry
