yesterday stage 3:

Another slow paced stage with a Viviani win, unless he's shook from yesterday

At least it'll tire the peloton for te upcoming hills

Ewan wins.

The fever for the Giro is growing on us
youtube.com/watch?v=E0a1lZWoMu8

Attached: Sinaloa.jpg (902x960, 103K)

doubt viviania will get to sprinting with the last 2km averaging at 4 percent with parts at 7 percent.

Does anyone explain me why has been Viviani disqualified yesterday?

Attached: Fernando Gaviria.jpg (670x435, 53K)

Kek, missed that last bump at the end.

He broke his lane

still torn between sprinters and gc riders for my fantasy league today though. not sure whether sprinters will survive the bump

None. Sagan would ace this, but he's in Cali

GC will not do anything for the first week, and not many sprinters will be able to follow up on the climb. Maybe a lightweight sprinter?

This. If it's a bit steeper than it looks like probably someone like Ulissi or Battaglin

Battaglin was down yesterday. He might be a bit hurt.. he took a long time to get up on the bike again

yeah i could see ewan and demare surviving this but im not sure about guys like viviani and ackermann. it depends on how nervous the gc guys are though, i heard the final km is narrow af so theyll naturally be holding top pace just to hold position. i could see guys like landa and hart and carapaz (who have already lost some time) placing little attacks just to gain time back, in which case the sprinters would hundred percent be done and we get a top10 full of gc riders. also seems like a stage for the ulissi, battaglin-types, maybe madouas. im torn mang

Oh yeah, I forgot

basically lol it's athletics but with bikes instead. you just have to imagine the white outline of your lane on a fucking ROAD

Too subjective for pelotons

THEY ROBBED MY BOY

FUCK YOU UCI

The BIG question today: will the brave anime warrior make it before the time limit y/n

It's gonna be Formolo, Simon Mohammed Yates or Roglic today btw.

Nibbles as an outsider.

Gaviria is a Chad, so he deserves the win IMO

There were anons asking about both the Canyon Ultimate and Wahoo ELEMNT. I couldn't post yesterday so doing it now in case they're here now.

I've got the current Ultimate CF SLX and it's an amazing bike, have had it for two seasons now and have done about ~15 000 km on it. Haven't regretted buying it even for a second. Would definitely recommend. Climbs great but with a nice deep set of wheels doesn't feel too out of place in a fast paceline. Has a normal 27.2 mm seatpost so you aren't forced to a proprietary one, the one that comes with the bike is great though. In fact my next road bike will most likely be a disc version of the Ultimate, however I'll probably ride my current bike for 2 - 3 more seasons.

The only negative I have to say about it is that packing bikes into a bike box with integrated stem/handlebar combo is a pain in the ass. And that really isn't the bikes fault but something you have to take into account if you buy a bike with one piece stem/bars. It's still doable but much harder than with a separate handlebar.

I've also had the ELEMNT BOLT for two seasons now and it's been working great. Also recommended. Super clear display and good battery life. Haven't had any problems with dropping sensors. The navigation isn't it's strongest point. It works well when you stay on the route but it won't recalculate the route in case you deviate. That isn't much of a problem when you're riding outside of cities but in some cities with obscure street plan and lots of small alleys it can get a bit difficult (looking at you Palma and few other smaller Majorcan villages).

Pic very much related

TOTALLY UNEXPECTED

That was me. I'm deliberating between the ultimate CF sl8 and ultimate CF sl8 disc. Were you able to test ride the bike? Did you have a proper bike fit or order it from their website. Did you find the geometry accurate to your specifications?

I'm also still thinking about the Endurace, although I already have a Diverge which is already in that "comfortable roadie and still fast but still noticeably slower" gamma

>what do you think of my new bike, user?
>just kidding :3, i bought it for you! :)

Attached: puck new bike.jpg (960x960, 192K)

thats not a track bike

oh ffs, Gaviria's leadout is fucked - maybe that's why he looked so unhappy at the podium?

>using gears

Attached: Oo.jpg (640x800, 96K)

I didn't get to test ride it, I got mine pretty soon after they released the new version of the Ultimate iirc. The geometry was accurate to what their tables said. I only needed a new frame and transferred the components from an older frame. I had a properly fitting bike already so I just took the measurements and looked at the geometry table.

>"After the jury’s decision, I really thought about going home but it’s one of those thoughts that goes away almost as soon as you think of it. I’ve decided to stay but now I’m curious to see if other riders will be punished in the next sprints," Viviani told La Gazzetta dello Sport late on Monday night.
>Viviani was especially angry about being docked 50 points. He won the cyclamen-coloured points jersey in 2018 but is now racing with a 50-point handicap and may opt to quit the Giro d’Italia before the mountains and save himself for the Tour de France rather than fighting for the points jersey all the way to Verona.

What a faggot he would have won anyway even if he diddnt close the door, maybe try to have more confidence in your own abilities then

Would you drink her dehydrated pee after a hard stage?

This race is ded.

Yesterday's stage was super boring and predictable.
Today's breakaway is filled with literal whos with a 7 min gap. Will there ever be any excitement?

So here we have the breakaway with a seven minute advantage. Now why can't they just match the peloton speed and get to the finish first.

I really have bad stamina, my legs feel a bit tired after only 50km yesterday.
How the fuck do people recover so fast?

Same with hiking, how can you continuously hike for many days with just the night as recovery window?

Attached: Jestem zmieszany.png (645x773, 23K)

Just don't be a bitch. Did 3 times 80k from friday to Sunday. It sucks on monday but just bite through the pain and stiffness.

where's team sky?

Fuck, breakaway already losing time on the peloton. Ride faster you breakaway bastards.

>complaining about nothing happening with 130 km to go
Ameriburgers everybody

Attached: 1521377999396.jpg (196x258, 9K)

You need to do it more often.

Breakaway must of heard me, they are gaining time now.

Yesterday's stage was quite entertaining in the last couple of hours when everyone went full gas.

I am sure on the 3rd day 80k, you didn't perform as well as your first one.

What's the point of torturing yourself if there is no improvement?

He also knocked down moschetti.

Almost*

No excitement until the last race week user

Next weekend i will perform better and be able to ride those three 80k's harder?

You get better eveytime

Danebros.. Matti is out :(

San Marino TT is undervalued

Doubtful, I have started riding my bike more regularly this year.

Starting in March, I have ridden over 600km so far, and I don't feel stronger at all.

Not in my case.
I just have no talent obviously.
I am sure there are people out there, who aren't even pros, but have pro level talent, who improve very fast.

Again, You have a weak mind. Push yourself to the limit on some parts (intervals). If you just ride easy pace there won't be a big improvement.

>It has been ultra windy for more than 3 weeks straight
>Riding with front wind is an absolute torture even in the countryside
That fucking region lads

Attached: 1341333499783.jpg (320x287, 22K)

Nord pas de Calais?

Normandy

I'm in a coastal province as well, winds from the north sea are just brutal. T-they make me stronger r-right.

Why would you need talent for that? Like every other exercise, do it consistently and regularly. You'll build stamina eventually. Commuting to work for example helps quite a bit, or just 30-60 minutes on turbo trainer every evening. You'll feel improvements on your rides after a while.

gotta love going at 20 on the flat

I try to never dip beneath 30, even with a headwind. A great mental stimulus...

this is a literal trademark giro stage

Damn you're in good shape
I'm kinda out of shape and starting to get back in shape by riding my mountain bike

Lol, how do you do that?

Let me guess, you have proper cycling clothes, and ride a road bike in aero position.

Visible tattoos on cyclist are fucking cringe. Is it popular or unpopular opinion?

Attached: Untitled.png (1920x1080, 3.03M)

The rate of improvement depending on your input is a talent.
Some adapt fast, some only slowly and have a low ceiling.

This Roglic is a freak for example, only a few years of riding and already among the very best.

tattoos are cringe whatever and whoever

Pushing too hard means you will get cramps eventually.
Meaning more time needed for me to recover.

Yes, but you can buy clothes and shoes for a not too expensive price as well. My bike was 700 euros. I'm not one of those middleaged cunts with a beer gut who are riding 10000 euro aero bikes.

Don't cycle if you are afraid of pain dude

Tattoos are cringe.

Sometimes extra cringe. Sagan obviously lives in society.

It's just like any other fashion trend like clothes or haircuts. But obviously you are stuck with the tattoos. Tattoo removal will be big business in a few years.

Cool. My current bike is too big for me.(always has been but the discomfort only becomes unbearable on long rides which I'm doing more of) I've almost put 20.000k on it so high time for a new one. Think I'm going to get the canyon cf ultimate disc. Hope that'll fit me better

don't get disc brakes unless it's really wet where you live, it's less aerodynamic and up to 500 grams heavier

why they still show this ad with Kittel?

It's more wet than hilly where I live (west Flanders)

I was looking at this bike just the other day (the Canyon). I have a Giant Defy right now. I'm stuck in the middle of LA for my PhD and don't have time enough for serious biking to justify a second bike, but I really want one.

Once again im pretty surprised how Roglic could only hold wheels in the end. He might fade in the last week considering hes in-form the whole spring

Yep

Little aero manlet like Cavendish

or he's not on form this week and will only get stronger?

Idiot had Carapaz' wheel, dunno why he let him go

He could have won, no point wasting energy bro
Remember what yates did for two weeks last year!!!! and then crashed his form

I thought all the sprinters must be quite heavy, as they need to generate massive power (over 1400kW) to be competitive.

It was Scott who caused it I think. Might even have been Yates

>le Team Ineos only bring young inexperienced riders to the Giro to cause crashes

delete this and never post it again

You are dumb if you think he isn't on form yet. He's just conserving his peak by not wasting energy

He has no reasons to go now, he just needs to hold his advantage.

Fuck Simon Yates, I fear the brits will win this gt too - making it the 7th in a row or sumthin

True chads dont support Israel or choke away their GT wins you guilable idiot.

apparently there was a 2nd crash not shown which explaines the small front group now

I've seen footage of the second crash; not clear tho, a second or even less

Dumoulin 4:30 down on the leader wow. He should literally just quit the race or use it for training and focus on the tdf, no way can he come back from this, only a special certain athlete can overturn such a large deficit in a grand tour

Dumoulin needs to play like a ski jumper to win this Giro

>El puto Yates, que es un retrasado y va como un loco. Me tiró en una rotonda.
>Es una mierda cuando pasan cosas que no dependen de ti

Yikes, it is normal for spanish people to talk like that in interviews?

Yes

can the jury neutralize the time gaps?

they should penalize Yates and Team Ineos instead

>take a look at the thermometer
>12°C/7°C in sun/shade
>put on shorts and long shirt
>avg temp 5°C for 2h 45min
Felt slightly chilly by the end desu lads. Also what the fuck is this weather? It's mid May and it's this fucking cold with clear skis and sunshine.

LAUGH UNTIL MY HEAD COMES OFF

Do you like the Wahoo? Just ordered an elemnt.

>It was another nervous final with dangerous corners and narrow roads. In a moment I heard a sound of a crash and just in the last moment I could pass the dangerous place and to come in front. I was up there in the leading group, but in a roundabout another crash left me and some other riders behind. When the road started coming up I just gave my best to take some seconds back and I succeed. Yeah, in the end of the day I lost 18 seconds, but, in general, I saved this day. The team did a very good job today, and I am really sorry for my teammates, who were caught by the crash, - said Miguel Angel Lopez.

Eternal anglos responsible for both crashs, Yates held up all other favourites except Caracas and Roglic.

Yeah, I wrote a about it here since someone, you?, asked about it yesterday.

You can't blame Ineos for taking out GC contenders, it's only fair because Bernal is out injured

That was me indeed. Thanks a ton! Navigation appears to be the big thing that everyone mentions, but I guess like you, it's not my main motivation for owning it so that's great news. The screen, the zoom in/out mechanism, the connectedness, openness and on-phone configuration are major draws for me.

I have a Polar V650 which I've enjoyed, but especially the screen annoys me a bit. That and some minor issues with syncing, having to use a cable etc (there is phone-based syncing but it's more unreliable than using a cable which already isn't great). It's also even worse at navigation than Wahoo, though it does have a colour screen which probably makes the map a bit more readable.

Oh also, for some reason on the Polar, if you make a screen that shows only 2 datapoints, the font isn't made larger to fit the empty space! Still tiny. Drives me nuts.

based informative finfriend. I've given it some more soul searching and I'm going to get the Ultimate CF 8.0 SL disc (stealth). Such a nice looking bike.

Do you do all your own maintenance or have you found a local dealer to work on your bike?

Landa claimed that Yates had caused him to fall at a roundabout, with the Basque injured and losing 42 seconds on race leader Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) and 26 seconds on other top GC contenders, including Yates.

Asked by Spanish sports daily AS afterwards what had happened, Landa told the newspaper, "That fucking Yates. He’s mentally retarded. He rides like a madman and he made me fall."

Landa later apologized "in particular to Simon Yates" and fans on Twitter, saying his words had been "taken out of context." Yates later accepted the apology on Twitter, writing, "No worries, I understand what it’s like to say something in the heat of the moment."

kek

I do all my own maintenance, got new set of cables and BB bearings coming in the mail so I can change them. I have the space and tools for it so it's easier to just do it myself. Though I have two good shops around me that I would trust to work on my bikes. And I use them for some tasks like wheelbuilding and for one off jobs that I don't have the tools for and won't most likely be needing them in the future.

If anyone still has the thread open. Just got back from work, what happened today?

Absolute chaos. Ineos crashed the race with no survivors. Literally this time.

Poomoulin is kill, lost like 5 minutes. All favourites except Roglic lost time, though mostly less than a minute I think.

ineos rider crashed, tom lost 4 min
second crash (possibly because of yates) all gc rider lost 20sec on roglic

It's on Eurosport 2 right now if you have it btw - 11 km left - it's just about to get good, sorry about the spoilers.

Fuug. Watching on Eurosport now.
Getting ready

Anyone here watching Tour of California? Cavagna is maybe the worst descender in history.

>Alessandro Petacchi has denied being involved in the German Aderlass blood doping investigation centred around Dr. Mark Schmidt, after a joint investigation by the French Le Mondeand ItalianCorriere della Sera newspapers alleged he was a client of the former Team Milram doctor who has worked with a number of cross-country skiers in recent years.

I always knew Petacchi was a fucking doper, this guy is lying through his teeth!

By the way, he was banned for lower concetration of salbutamol than Vroome got away with. Lost the appeal too. Too bad Alessandro wasn't a symbol of new clean cycling and didn't have some exotic parasites.
