British Ice Hockey Celebration Thread

I know it's early but fuck it, get in here lads!

Obviously we're going to beat Germany, but by how many?

we have a hockey team?

Yes. We are among the elite nations in the top tier of the World Championships. Get hyped.

Based, please support our boys. Last year's promotion was amazing.

You have a hockey team?

God damn Britain has more olympic golds than we do

We have and Olympic gold medal and an Ice Hockey league mate. By far the most popular North American sport here, but still basically irrelevant.

bigger than american football?

Our handegg league is literally played on rugby pitches at parks by amateurs.

I'm not sure how you'd quantify the 3/4 NFL London games a season against the Elite League, where teams usually play twice a weekend and clubs like Sheffield and Nottingham get 5000+. My team is in the second tier and still gets 1000+ every game.

I remember when the Nottingham Panthers and the Hamburg Freezers had a fan cooperation. Ice hockey is minimally relevant in Germany but still extremely more than in the UK, but the Freezers don't exist anymore.

Time to add it to the list

wow not as big a crowd as I'd expect. not too many NHLers from UK, which is why I didnt think it was very popular there

>Invent sport
>win gold medal
>make stanley cup
>have domestic league

Still, its only ever been a irrelevant sport here.

Wait. If we have an olympic gold medal in this, how many must a country like Finland have?

very excited to see our boys compete in the top tier, i will be even more happy if we don't get relegated

It's probably the 5th or 6th most popular sport in England, would love for it to become more popular desu. If we could somehow avoid relegation this year then you may see the media taking an interest.

Basketball would be more popular m8.

Nah I've been to Newcastle Eagles games and about 20 people turn up to the gym

IT'S TIME

RULE BRITANNIA

IT'S COMING HOME IT'S COMING HOME IT'S COMING
HOCKEY'S COMING HOME

To be fair, last time I went there there was easily 200. Tickets were being sold half price though.

if you compete as GB you must be shit at it

Yeah. Still 0-0 though.
