You were kidding yourself if you thought for a second that Valverde's playstyle is good or pretty. Look at comments either in YouTube or online newspapers after a Barcelona victory; most fans don't like him and think he should step down even if they win the treble. Ter Stegen was the cornerstone of Barça's victory today, and relying on your GK is a very bad sign, but everyone knew that Liverpool was going to pressure hard until the last minute, and that's exactly what Valverde was expecting. Pressuring is very demanding, energy wise, and Barcelona excelled at soaking up pressure and striking back when Liverpool was out of breath. If you see the very last play of the match (Dembele's fluke) you'll see that it originates from a counterattack Liverpool had no way of answering to, because they were desperately looking for an away goal.

It's true that there were some very some calls, namely Milner's point blank shot to the keeper, and Rakitic's save to Salah's post shot. However, Barça missed two arguably easier tap-ins, so I think it balances out.

Finally, a win is a win. It doesn't matter if you had more possession or more shots, that doesn't necessarily mean you're better (which Liverpool was, anyway); that mentality leaves no room for strategies other than all-out offense, which has no more merit than other tactics in and of itself.
