why am i like this, /asspee/? i try to enjoy it so hard, but i just have no fucking clue what to focus on most of the time. i'd get so much joy if i could understand it tactically and spot differences in formations and understand which player is doing what, but i literally just see 22 men running after the ball.
please teach a retard how to watch football properly or im going to off myself. i want to enjoy it so bad, i keep up with the news, watch post match analysis, read forums, etc., but when it comes to watching a game live, when im supposed to see things without someone pointing them out, im fucking dogshit.
the teams are divided in 3 different groups, so to say: defenders, midfielders and attackers. the (usually) 4 guys near the goal keeper are the defenders, the 3 or 4 guys you see near the half of the pitch are the midfielders and the guys trying to score some goals are the attackers
Jeremiah Reed
Thanks Mourinho.
Isaac Perry
thanks rodrigo, i understand THOSE kind of basics though. my problem is that when for example, team changes a system, i just cant see it. i know the theory, but i don't know what to focus on when watching it live. if i just focus on the ball, then i miss most of the tactical stuff around it. and if i try to watch everything but the ball, my eyes are all over the fucking screen, not really knowing what to look for.
why am i like this? why cant i just enjoy things in life, instead of making them overly autistic?
you know what would be great, a top down view. with fucking names above every player. we're in 2019, why is there no such thing for the most important matches?
try to watch a game from barcelona, they're probably the team the most sticks to its traditional tactic (4-3-3) and you'll see how it works. try to watch how the players move when they don't have the ball
Asher Evans
I doubt it because matches between the top sides and top managers are essentially like intense games of chess. That's what people enjoy and what people analyse autistically for hours.
Aiden Miller
They can make lots of money without innovating so why bother
Blake Harris
I watch most games as a neutral so i just focus on attacking team and think what I would do in their place as if I am playing Fifa. Defending is boring anyway, let the managers and analysts circlejerk about it.
Zachary Fisher
You just need to relax. Of course football has some tactical things and some Systems you need to know but you are making it more complicated for you than it is. It‘s not 4D chess.
Tyler Morgan
We should literally do that for every team sport t. 200 IQ (not baseball obviously)
Angel Ortiz
This is normal, 99% of football fans, like this very board, don't know any of that, including most professionals in the industry, and so called analysts and pundits too. Only coaches and people who learned proper football theory know the game in depth.
Ethan Edwards
This basically. I remember when r/soccer lost their minds when Kolarov said that fans know nothing about football. I also cringe to myself when my plastic barca friend starts talking about football tactics.
Jacob Moore
I could ask a very simple, fundamental question on football and this board wouldn't know the answer.
it looks random but look at some autists on youtube to help you understand. and those tactical analysis types that discuss what's going on and know your positions. the easiest are the forwards, strikers etc. and go from there I guess. I've been into football for a few seasons and I still don't understand some things but that's only because I don't know the personnel for some teams, but you'll get a hang of it
Joshua Young
Pls ask. I want /sp exposed
Camden James
Most players don't know shit either, they just follow the orders and don't try to understand why. Only with some coaches the players actually know stuff, because they are asked to, but even then..
Hudson Nelson
Alright, what are the 4 phases of the game (a football match)?
Lincoln Davis
Look at where the players move on offense, and where they move on defense. For example, teams score goals, usually you’ll notice that lots of players are in the final third of the field.
Look at where most of the players are on a field and why.
Colton Turner
Do you enjoy it lad ? That's all that counts
Alexander Smith
relax slavoj and keep watching
Adrian Cox
This reminds me of a tv show years ago where they analysed Rooney in extreme detail. One part was to film him watching a game and compare it to a casual fan watching the same game. Casual fan just watched the ball. Rooney's eyes never stopped moving all over the place watching everything
Noah Watson
Just watch the ball if you're confused
Joshua Baker
Kick-off Half time slags Final whistle Seething
Benjamin Young
>too /brainy/ >frog poster "no"
Liam Miller
"no"
Juan Gray
first 45 second 45 ronaldo scores penalty in overtime whistle blows
Jaxon Allen
football is literally the easiest sport to understand. it's why it's popular by primitives of South America and Africa, and Brexiteer areas of the UK; retards can easily understand what's going on.
try watching baseball or NFL; that shit's complex.
Cooper Jones
Well, I just follow my team. I don't watch other games. Play some FIFA and maybe you'll start to learn about football.
