Why is Russia comparatively bad at football compared to other countries? I feel like they've been spending more in recent years and it's the most popular sport, but where's the progress? Is it just climate? I'm from Belarus originally, and we couldn't play a lot out of the year, of course, but that was back in the impoverished '90s. You'd think that with futsal and more spending on indoor stuff, Russia would have gotten better, and yet they just haven't.
>Why is Russia comparatively bad at football compared to other countries? to what? Brazil, Columbia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain?
>I feel like they've been spending more in recent years nowhere near Western Europe
>and it's the most popular sport just like in most European countries
>but where's the progress? its very hard to make a step from being b-tier like poland to a-tier like dutch
>Is it just climate? climate is everything. its a mentality, history, economcis(geography). so of course thats a huge factor. (but iceland in 2016-2018 escaped that, also partly because they are close to UK and coaches-players have UK ties)
Russia is a solid 2nd tier European team. Probably around the same level as the likes of Denmark, Sweden, Ukraine, Wales etc.
Josiah Watson
i have another question: why uk is so bad at football ? last trophies was like 50 years ago lmao

No Communism Soviet Union was top tier in the 60s/70s
Brayden Morales
its too cold
Liam Turner
If you look at those Soviet teams, a ton of the players were from George and especially Ukraine, where it's considerably warmer, which I think supports my climate theory.
Jace King
Not really my Oceania friend, they're C+ at best, Austria and Ireland tier
Christopher Cruz
we are 2nd group in nations league, almost got into 1st even :(
also our league is 6th strongest in europe just above portugal
Charles Howard
They literally got to the quarterfinals and lost on pks that’s pretty good
Nathan Morales
>5-0 Saudi Arabia >3-1 Egypt >0-3 Uruguay >1-1 won in PK Spain >2-2 lost in PK Croatia Russia had an easy run in the WC and they were the hosts, Saudi Arabia lost their best manager and Spain weren't at form at the time too so Russia had some home luck on their side. They're still a high tier european team tho.
Jeremiah Wood
Capitalism. Soviet Union was pretty decent.
Oliver Martinez
>russian league is above portugal 'no' It's not even above the Turkish league and is probably about the same level as the Eredivisie
Julian Gray
Same problem as we have here: no money invested in sports
Nathaniel Baker
well, they have consistent results in europa league so they deserve their 6th place in the uefa ranking
Exposed. Sit down STEVENF THE CANADIAN AUTIST FROM ONTARIO

>Muh corruption Simply the players produced are not good enough. Even in Europe there are times with shit players.

But Ukraine isn't really bad at all at football, you produce some good players for your size
Owen Clark
Russia bad at football? They are not West Yuro good , but really cant say bad. Bad is most arab ,african countries , south asian countries like India. India has bad humans physically, but China is shit too although more potential if PRC government steal some of Hueng min sons semen
I watched most Ru games from 08, they did good in that Euro where they reached semi final and blew Sweden and edged Nederlands. 2014 poor discipline v Algeria and Belgium,2018 Rus was an improvement.
Generally speaking, East Europe teams that are not south like Serbia, rely more on their good survivalist genetics to withstand harsh situations. Tactics and fluidity like german and spanish teams they do not possess. Tough mofos though, if they had warmer climate like Serbia and Hrvaatsk they couldve performed better
Jace Long
I've trained at Krasnodar's center and I'm impressed by the facilities and staff. They're gonna be a top 4 side in Europe in a distant future.

ukraine are okay but georgia aren't that good m8

Country is too big and spread out to have a functioning league with any identity, and it’s cold as fuck 8 months out of the entire year. Hardly leads to playing football. Something every pro players talks about is when they were young they’d spend hours each day of the week all year round kicking a ball around outside in the back garden, street, local parks etc. Just spur of the moment stuff. Good luck doing that in Russia. Also consider the following, all the goat football nations are densely populated. Italy, Germany, England, France etc all have 80 million odd people living in a relatively small country. Brazil is massive BUT, most of the population lives in a handful of urban areas near the coast, and it’s warm as fuck so they play all year round unlike Russia.
William Hill
they were in the Europa League this year right?
Anthony Reed
>and it’s warm as fuck so they play all year round unlike Russia. >warm Kkkkkkkkk It's more like hot, everything in North and close to this line (like Rio were I live, place were increasingly rarely 20 C winter peasant days is rare year to year, is considered so cold, no kidding, some people wear heavy winter clothes like scarfs) of this line is fucking hell, 30 C year around days, in close this line like Rio it's really hell during ouctuber to April (and counting now) only highlands places like São Paulo have decent climate, South Brazil have climate like Australia, they have seasons, pretty cold winter's, but hellish summers, it's funny because people think Australia is warm country, but in reality it's pretty cold to Brazil standards. Seriously is pretty suffering just walking in 30-40 C with incessant sun in you head, now imagine running in hours. I think we are good because 9 in 10 favela niglets just dream about being football star. That's climate stuff explain why football here is more slow than European football, and euros think our league is shit.
Huh, I thought you guys loved the heat and so on That tropical feel la
Isaac Ross
>I've trained at Krasnodar's center Really? As a young player or coach?
>I'm impressed by the facilities and staff Krasnodar have the best academy in terms of infrastructre and desire to deliver, they are really ahead of other teams. They hire young coaches, send them to Europe etc. also their owner is one of few rich people in russia who made billions on anyything aside from gas/oil/gold/diamonds or(and) friendship with Putin's clan
>They're gonna be a top 4 side in Europe in a distant future. not with the current system and mentality. Krasnodar is the only ones who want to be civilized, and the lower half of RFPL is really low quality
Juan Anderson
>literary living in open air sauna >good I know it's media world-wide spread meme, but Australia have same steryope. Maybe only rich people that life near beachs and can't work (well, lot of unemployment here) and people can expend 24 hours in room with AC (like I'm NEET of upper middle class parents) but still shit, different of Australia and USA first world countries, electric bills is so expansive and we not have central AC (only ultra rich people), just go to toilet and SPECIALLY cooking is pure suffering. Brazilian expats that live in Canadá aways relate that severe winters is best to 40 C summers in Brazil especially in Rio, just because in just wear heavy clothes and have calefaction everywhere is better than melting even naked.
Luis James
>a-tier
The correct term is elite-tier, friends.
Luke Butler
>C+ at best, Austria and Ireland tier Nah, they're miles better than those shitters. Honestly the Nations League leagues are probably the best way of ranking teams. Russia are a solid B for sure.
Huh, I lived in Singapore for awhile and loved it, is it different in Brazil then? Tropics are fun
Easton Evans
>comparatively bad Comparatively to what? Italy, Brazil, France, Germany? Well duh. Never said we're an A-team. I wouldn't say it's bad tho and we have some (very slow) progress. But of course it also depends on the money invested in sports and our weather too, we can't play outside all year long. But yes there is progress and new people come to this sport open academias etc. Last year's WC gave a huge boost in popularity of footy here so I hope we see an improvement in the long run.
Surely you spended all of you time in AC covered places and pool or beach.
Elijah Reed
No, I loved the humidity breh I’m white as well Nice change from the freezing cold desu
Logan Evans
And I loved when travelled to cold countries, Argentina in winter include, when I can wear a jacket whitout a die and not get extreme sweated by 5 minutes by slow walking, and simple not get my hair wet for just being in a place without AC.
Kayden Smith
Mate, I spent my holiday in Japan during winter and it was fantastic.
It wasn't that cold but yet, cold enough that I don't sweat the moment I step out.
People who get to live with seasons are the luckiest. Sure, you get terrible heatwaves too but at least you don't get stuck with it year round.
At least we don't get natural disasters so that's a plus.
Noah Martin
this room consts not that much that average gym but looks 3 times better
Jeremiah Sanders
>at least we don't get natural disasters so that's a plus. Funny, it's a meme here a couple of years, but no more. Not even massive storms and floods that kill some people? Here we have 2 in about 3 months. Surely, people die here because third word infrastructure.
Jose Lee
It's the best training base and academia in our country rn. I just picked a random pic of it.
Jayden Walker
But Japan not have snow in winter?
Jacob Howard
>Imagine naming Colombia alongside Brazil, France Germany & Italy in a Football sentence
Alexander Martin
I think Russia is right now Colombia tier, therefore Russia is elite in football right now.
Xavier Myers
>Italy Take out Chiellini and Veratti, and you have Russia
