Sometimes you need to drill certain tactics for a fight until they become muscle memory. That takes a while. Sometimes you need to increase conditioning if you think it's going to be a long fight. Sometimes you need to lose fat, get stronger, get faster, all of the above.
Everyone is different. If you're Loma and fight 100x a year it's one thing, but if you're a champ fighting once or twice a year that doesn't box at his natural weight, it'll take longer.
