Big tournament every 2 years except the world cup is considered more fun because you can play that nigger team no one knows or New Zealand while in the Euros you used to know for sure that you would be playing a 1st world team right from the start. The world cup is easier to win, there's no doubt about it. A shit team, from a shit continent, if they have a decent squad and get enough of good results to boost their morale could easily go all the way in the world cup. Croatia last year, Costa Rica was a penalty kick away from being in the semis in 2014, Turkey and Korea in 2002, Uruguay 2010... There are many more "shit teams" having good world cups than euros.

I agree that the 24 team change was awful and that the WC will become even more of a fluke after it goes to 48 teams.

not really la. Not even on the same plane as the teams we won on the knockout rounds. Our success was based on amazing defending fueled by unstoppable momentum(especially after the france victory). Also a lot of luck since we counted exclusively on set pieces to score. Our players were defending like their lives were on the line. I don't know about the other people but after knocking out france I had developed a "it's coming home" mentality, except for the part that it actually came home, contrary to when the English say it.
