Are football players manchildren?

Is it fair to say that the vast majority of high-level soccer/football players are basically fit, millionaire manchildren?

From an early age till their eventual retirement, their lives are dedicated to the art of football with virtually all of their adult responsibilities being taken care of by managers and such.

Akin to NEETS, they're deprived of experiences that can play a significant role in the development of a young male, such as working a real job, pursuing higher education, or learning a skill/trade, which keeps them in a state of perpetual juvenility. Some of their behavior on the pitch is reminiscent of how rowdy preteen boys behaved in my childhood, which is disturbing considering these men are well into their 20's and even 30's. You can say this is the case with athletes in general, but I think this is especially true for soccer players since this particular sport doesn't really enforce a code of honor or discipline like others do.

At most, they just have to maintain a steady diet and workout regimen to be viable on the pitch (which all athletes do), but they still behave like complete odious children. Thoughts?

Most talented athletes have an iota of autism with a sprinkling of OCD and healthy dose of confidence. To reach the elite level requires hours and hours of practice, usually in isolation, sacrificing typical social activities. The result is an individual who is slightly askew from the norm.

I agree, from top of my head I can only exclude three players who don't adhere to such mindset. Andrea Pirlo, Frank Lampard, and Mikel Arteta.

>but I think this is especially true for soccer players since this particular sport doesn't really enforce a code of honor or discipline like others do.

Honor is an unheard word in Handegg and Floorsquick.
Players will taunt/mock/curse adversaries in their faces, do retarded amerimutt dances when they make a good play, showboat, kneel etc.. Football players are fucking Knights in comparison.

While I think you're right about the whole social isolation thing, I can't help but feel like this issue is worse among pro soccer players than it is with athletes from other sports. High-level soccer players were never really given an opportunity to grow as men, due to the fact they were forced to join academies if they wanted a chance of reaching the pinnacle of the sport. They just behave more like children.

CTE ball doesn't count.

A lot of American Basketball players, wrestlers, and even people in NFL pursue higher education to advance their careers by playing in university teams so that they can get picked up by professional teams. MMA fighters typically work jobs prior to becoming professional to fund their careers and are disciplined because of their martial arts background. I think this is one of the main reasons why there's a difference in behavior between them and the soccer players I mentioned. I like soccer but some soccer players legitimately act like toddlers when they don't get their way.

interesting that OP picks on that partcular sport

i guess its more 'manly' to beat women instead

You have to keep in mind that CTE is rampant in that particular sport. Their brains are completely totaled by the time they're in the mid-twenties, hence why I referred to it as "CTE ball" earlier. That explains why they go Chris Benoit on people sometimes (I.e. Aaron Hernandez). medicalxpress.com/news/2019-02-brain-condition-cte-hs-football.html

their mid-twenties*

CTE doesnt make you beat women.

It makes you more aggressive, impulsive and emotionally stunted but they beat women because they're nigs and high test alpha males.

>muh racism
>muh elite alpha males

shut the fuck up seriously.

It degenerates your brain and makes you more prone to uncontrollable bouts of anger and acting irrationally. Some of them are already meatheads, to begin with, but that sport makes them into meatheads with irrevocable brain injuries. Players fighting and acting like children is far worse in soccer than it is in basketball, baseball, or golf. The fan base is also more hostile, generally speaking. This isn't an attack on your favorite sport, I'm just interested in the psychological effects that such a lifestyle can have on men.

What the fuck are you even talking about? Since when does pursuing higher education constitutes in major behavioral changes when it comes to social interactions in a competitive environment under equal circumstances? Having actual responsibilities and/or real life struggles is the one major common denominator that most people can identify when actually coming to any conclusion on whether or not people of different backgrounds are acting appropriately in a certain social interaction of any kind. Or at least, that's the way most people mature while living their lives indiscriminately. The vast majority of football players start off really young, training and playing under professional clubs' academies, following their rules and norms of interaction from since they're just children with one common objective.

What you're basically saying is that the rules and regulations of the sport are permissive, allowing them to act in a certain way that you often don't see in other sports. It has nothing to do with real character formation.

Not in American Football, I don’t watch it, but can’t you get your team penalized for celebrating in an “obnoxious” way

I'm saying they don't have responsibilities aside from their physical and dietary ones on and off the pitch, they're essentially obedient children from when their 9 or 10 to the point that they retire. Most of them never had the same responsibilities or obligations that normal well-adjusted people in society have (which I think allows for personal growth), which I think reflects in their behavior. The rules are certainly easy to exploit and allow for this type of behavior to slide, but it doesn't change the fact that a lot of these players still engage in extremely child-like behavior and do so on live television on a regular basis.

>being this retarded
So you how every single one of them live their lives off the pitch, how every single one of them handle their personal lives, how every single one of them deal with family problems, how every single one of them acts when they're not competing? You know every single one of them to that extent?

Well that applies to every single player of every sport

I would throw in Christian Eriksen. I've never seen him freak out about anything.

someone like R9 incredibly matured after he left the game. i guess all those injuries taught a lesson in life
