Based Owen scored a hat trick as well

Unironically a better centre-back pairing than Jones and Smalling desu

What a fucking stacked team.
Best game I ever watched live (on tv)

>losing to diving scousers
they were the better team

>team so strong Rui Costa is in the bench

all top 3 in the world in each position for the time. Jheez

I miss someone as passionate as gattuso on the field

What would be the modern day equivalent of that team, if you had to replace every player?

I actually tried to do it but most of these players are miles better than what we can pick from today's players, the backline specially

>the better team lost

GK: Oblak
RB: Dani Alves maybe I don't know
CB: Most of them are shit, Pepe comes to mind in his prime as a proper centre back
CB: most of them are shit, Even Ramos is considered good nowadays
LB: God knows who they've all turned shit since Roberto Carlos retired
RM: Messi
CM: Maybe someone like Kante or Casemiro if you're more defense orientated
LM: Ronaldo
CAM: No fucking clue here tbqh
ST: Ibrahimovic :^)

I saw your first one and thought you were being serious but then you wen't too far with Ronaldo and Ibra.

not even the same positions

for CAM I would put Pogba there. Replace the ST for Kane and LB 2017 Marcos Alonso and you have a great squad who would more than likely beat that Milan team.

It's difficult to name some players of today that are equivalent relatively to the old Milan squad.

I can name some names in la Liga at the time of that Milan squad that could have been considered equal or at least getting close to it with

Casillas in in his prime
Hierro as a centre back
Helguera as a libero
Roberto Carlos as left back
Figo somewhere on the midfield
Redondo in the centre midfield
Raul and Ronaldo up front

All of these I'd consider equal to the players in the Milan squad at the time and that was just real Madrid, even Valencia had an amazing team back then

>Pogba equal to kaka in his prime
>Kane equal to inzaghi or shevchenko

Zoomers out

lol idiot

GK: Oblak, Ter Stegen, Alisson would all be ok
RB: This is the tricky one, many options, all pretty meh, the best one is Sergi Roberto
CB: Pique, Chiellini, Umtiti are all fine, implying they are fit
CB: VVD memes aside, you may hate him because >liverpool but he is a top cb
LB: Robertson, Jordi Alba
RM: Messi
CM: Kante, Busquets
LM: Cristiano, Mane
CAM: Firmino, Eriksen, Arthur, KDB, Hazard
ST: Lewandowski, Kane, Suarez, Cristiano (and put someone else at LM)

kane is at least the same type of player as inzaghi, clinical poacher.

How do I explain to my kids that this team lost to Djimi Troare?

Inzaghi was a meme

And Steve "fucking" Finnan

Mate even odriozola is doing better than sergi at the RB position. Sergi is a midfielder you can see it.

Busquets is genuinely good though,

>Arthur in the same list is hazard
>Umtiti even above Ramos or Pepe in his prime
>Pique

I can somewhat agree to that

Alfonso detected

The most kino lineup was 4-3-2-1 with him instead of Inzaghi. 5 playmakers, FIVE.

i put lucas hernandez in because he's probably the most similar to maldini (defensive fullback who could play centreback).
saul is probably the most similar player to gattuso - a DM who was competent on the wing. the only other similar players were mousa dembele (who's completely past it) and moussa sissoko (lol)
rest should be obvious

*be the jobbest team ever*

If you want someone who can be mean when he needs to and passionate choose Raul Garcia during his time at Atletico. Such a fucking asshole but he was very important for them.

i'm not sure de Bruyne is the best choice to emulate Kaka, he's not nearly as fast.

>even Valencia had an amazing team back then
Deportivo La Coruña knocked out that Milan squad in the previous season desu (5-4)

I remember, makaay up front who later went to Feyenoord.

I miss the Times when Real still had players like morientes, hierro, Redondo, Raul etc.

there aren't that many pacey AMCs who could be labelled world class. perhaps pogba, but i personally don't rate him

Nevermind makaay was there in the late 90s, was confused a bit which time period you meant sorry fren

Basically Legends XI on FIFA

>Man United replaces Ronaldo with Owen
>*wins*
>Liverpool replaces Suarez with Lambert
>*loses*

>black goalkeepers

The only good black GK I can name now is Onana

Something like Modric Kante midfieldbfrees up Messi and Donaldo to do damage on each side. Would be actually impossible to defend.

Pique is a legit top 3 CB for his generation, offensively strong too.

>polddit

Vermeer

Yikes

>Arthur in the same list is hazard
Yes. Watch some football ffs
>Umtiti even above Ramos or Pepe in his prime
Ramos is not a top CB. He loses his mind easily, too many yellow and red cards, and to be honest he just makes too many mistakes. Normies seem to forget this because muh spirit and because he scores the occasional header

Also
>Pepe
We are talking about today m8, not about 2010, and he was still a shit defender back then

Based Depor, wished they won instead of Mouyes bus park bus

Lloris
Alves-Van Dijk-Godin-Pique
Wijnaldum-Kroos-Can
Hazard
Ronaldo-Immobile

I watch every game of the Spanish league so I'm quite confident when I say Arthur isn't as good as hazard. Not even close.

Pepe was great at real Madrid after his incident with a player from getafe IIRC which resulted in a long ban. He was by far, defensively, the best defender at real Madrid even up to the point when he got sent away by Perez.

I agree in Ramos making too many stupid mistakes but so does Pique.

This has to be a joke, although Godin is genuinely amazing as a CB.
Also
>Pique as a left back

>lloris
>hazard playing centrally
>mediocre liverpool midfield with guest appearance toni kroos as DM
>pique at leftback
